As a car, truck and tractor collector for over 45 years, I feel that I am very fortunate to be living in Montana which is one of the driest parts of our country. This semi-arid climate is relative easy on vehicles, especially if they have been kept inside and out of the sun and weather as this vehicle has. Die-cast zinc or "pot metal" trim parts do not pit or corrode nearly as bad as they do in the wetter climates. The unpainted sheet metal parts up under the dash of vehicles in most parts of the country get a red rust coating on them but not normally here in Montana. I have a local friend who is an auctioneer and he claims that even when it rains here, the wind blows the vehicles dry shortly after the rain stops. So here is your chance to own a "blow dried" vehicle. If you have never treated yourself to a nearly rust free and basically un-corroded vehicle so far in your life, here is your chance to do so now.

This listing is for an exquisite and totally un-restored low mile original "survivor" 1970 Mercury Monterey station wagon. I bought this car 3 years ago in Amadon North Dakota which is in the relatively dry western part of the state. It was for sale by the local sheriff whose father bought it new from the Dvorak Motor Company in Dickinson North Dakota. This car was purchased on April 21, 1970 according to the plastic Ford Power Train Warranty Card that is included with the original owner's manual and other documentation shown in one of the photos of this listing.

This car is equipped with the original Ford 390 2 barrel V8 engine, the Ford C6 Cruise-O-Matic three speed automatic transmission, power steering, power front disc brakes, remote outside driver's side rear view mirror, original Ford push button AM radio, power rear gate window and full wheel covers. I will be adding more information and photos soon. Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls

Tue, 04 Nov 2014

Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.

Does Lincoln Zephyr trademark mean a return to real names?

Wed, May 25 2016

Lincoln's long history includes many legendary names, and despite its short life, Zephyr retains a spot in that pantheon. Perhaps its will return once again: Ford Motor Co. applied to trademark Zephyr on May 11. Trademark filings can have ambiguous meanings, and often they're legal plays to get or keep the rights to a name. But in the last year, we've seen signs Lincoln is looking to use real names on its vehicles again. Obviously, it's keeping Navigator for its flagship sport-utility vehicle with a new model due next year. Reprising Continental for the MKS replacement was also well received. That said, Lincoln still uses the MKX and MKC "names" for its crossovers. Zephyr is a dustier moniker. It was used in the 1930s and '40s on a mid-level model spearheaded by Edsel Ford. The stylishly aerodynamic model was set between the Ford V8 De Luxe and more expensive Lincolns. It returned in 2006 as the Lincoln version of the Ford Fusion before that model was renamed MKZ. Mercury also used Zephyr on its version of the Ford Fairmont in the late 1970s and early '80s. Ford last held a trademark on the Zephyr name in 2013. The filing says Ford seeks to use Zephyr for "motor vehicles and parts and accessories therefor." That could mean a new car — or just parts. Putting the Zephyr badge back on the MKZ is the most likely bet. Meanwhile, Ford also moved to get the Thunderbird trademark on May 11 for the same vehicles and parts purpose, and it filed for the Mustang trademark for shampoo and lotions on May 4. A Lincoln spokesman said, "In the normal course of our business, we file trademarks for names," but had no further information. Related Video:

Ford Announces Free Brake-Pad Offer If Customers Stop By Dealers

Mon, Aug 4 2014

These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers. "We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts. Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1. "This program reflects our commitment to providing customers with an excellent ownership experience regardless of the age of their vehicle," said Frederiek Toney, President of Ford Customer Service, in the company's announcement of the offer.
