1951 Mercury; 4 Suicide Door Sedan; 50's Kustom Hot Rod Lead Sled Custom Cruiser on 2040-cars
Camptonville, California, United States
I am listing this car for a friend who does not have internet access for selling on eBay.
This car is a done, registered / insured / daily driver, having a modern drive train that is very dependable to drive anywhere. The photos show this car is basically a very cherry bone stock original, having a modern upgraded drive train; stock 350 Chevy V-8 having custom added on engine accessories; aluminum intake, Edelbrock carburator, Air Conditioning, etc, Turbo 350 automatic transmission, power steering, 9" Ford differential, dual exhaust, etc. This listing only allows no more than 24 photos, but I have plenty more to show of great detail including those of some very simple, minor, repairable flaws, such as; paint bubble/lifted just below the gas tank door, driver side door glass has a hairline crack [any automotive glass shop could cut & replace with a new one, original dome light lens is missing, etc. very simple things like that can be done a little at a time later on while still enjoying the car as it is now. We used a tow truck only to lift the car up high enough for taking photos showing the under carriage is very clean & original, never any rust out, no damage, never ever been repaired that I can tell or see, along with having very nice original chrome bumpers & trim moldings, etc We, [the car] is located in California about a 2 hour drive from both either the Sacramento, or the Reno, Nevada airport. You can fly out for us to meet you at the airport of your choice, complete the final sale transaction to then drive it home. Email your phone number I will call you, or for any more photos/questions way ahead of time, such as your plans on transporting, air travel, etc. . |

Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls
Tue, 04 Nov 2014
Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey
Wed, 09 Jan 2013The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.
NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue
Tue, 07 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.
