Welcome to a great opportunity. Every once is a while we get that "Little Old Lady, or Little Old Man owned, low mileage Florida creampuff" and we LOVE passing it along to our wonderful eBay clientele. And this is just such that occasion. You are viewing a very nice, extremely low mileage, Florida-kept and driven 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis Premium Luxury Touring Sedan. When we saw this car, in this condition, we knew we had to have it! You simply do not see them around this nice, very often, if at all. This Grand Marquis GS is extra-clean and priced thousands below what your local Ford Mercury dealership would want for the same vehicle, assuming they could find one! Certainly an attractive color combination for this sedan. It has a wonderful neutral Arizona Beige Clearcoat Metallic exterior over a Medium Beige deluxe cloth interior. With a careful, mature previous owner, super-low, original Sunny South Florida miles, this beauty certainly stand outs. For all intensive purposes, we could call this beautiful Grand Marquis a one-owner car. But truth told, the previous owner bought it from Maroone Lincoln Mercury of West Palm Beach in 2001 and upon his passing, his son took over possession in February of this year. Prior to that, he has been this Mercury's only owner and has remained in Florida since then, being pampered and enjoyed the entire time. With only 19,000 original miles, this Mercury runs and drives perfectly. This Luxury Sedan is impressive. Don't wait too long, we simply do not see these cars in this condition, upkeep and mileage all too often. This was certainly someone's pride and joy. Most of our cars end with a simple click of the Buy-It-Now, or a call to our sales associate. Don't make the mistake of missing out on this rare find! This Grand Marquis is an absolute pleasure to drive. Completely loaded with full power options, this sedan has a 220-horsepower 4.6 liter V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with Overdrive. In addition to seating capacity for up to six adult passengers, this Grand Marquis comes nicely equipped with driver's side power seat, air conditioning, cruise control, power controls, an adjustable steering wheel, a remote trunk release, AM/FM/CD audio system, rear window defogger/defroster, intermittent wipers and heated exterior mirrors. Safety equipment includes driver and passenger-side airbags, ABS, Traction Control, factory security system and keyless remote entry. Either by remote, or door keypad. The Medium Beige cloth interior is in outstanding condition. As close to new as you could possibly ever ask for. It is roomy and impressive interior cabin for the Grand Marquis, with the light interior accented distinctively by the rich, wood trim. And the beautiful high-gloss Arizona Beige exterior finish (with thin Carmel pinstripe) is in excellent condition, and is ding and dent free. No unsightly parking lot mishaps here! The previous owner lived in West Palm Beach and this car didn't see much Interstate travel at all. There are no rock or pebble nicks on the front of this car, and the finish is 100% original from the factory. This car has not been painted or had any paintwork done to it--quite a rarity these days! (Remember folks, only 19,000 original, documented miles). It was a garaged vehicle--and it shows. This Mercury Grand Marquis is in the type of condition that you never see at all! The pictures we have taken of the car are how we received the car. No professional detailing, no cleaning of the engine compartment and then jazzing it up with Armor All...nothing! This is how it came in, and this is how you see it. You can eat off the engine and motor compartment, and you can eat off the undercarriage of this car. The finish is beautiful, and the interior looks as if it has hardly been sat in. At this point, we would like to point out that the car will get professionally detailed by us for the successful new buyer, making it look near showroom. There is a small. light 2" scratch on the lower front right fender that we will order the correct paint from Ford and touch it up, and the original wheels covers do have some light oxidation on them that most likely will polish out. After the first year, when the car was new and driven 4,000 miles, this car was used to the tune of about 1,000 miles per year. A seasonal vehicle by the previous owner, they serviced their car exclusively at SEARS. It has a new Die Hard Battery (with warranty) and new Oil change as well as filter and wiper blades replaced. The upkeep has been great, and this is one of those cars that you can't believe is available. Loaded and it runs and drives superbly. No rattles, shakes, squeaks, bumps or bruises. Everything works perfectly and properly, and all it needs now is a new home. The top-of-the-line Michelin premium speed and heat rated performance radials are original, and as you would expect, have 19,000 miles on them. They are evenly worn, with approximately 50% treadlife remaining. But because of age, I would probably exchange them for a new set. We can get the same Michelin's for this car for $600 (our cost), or a comparable set of Goodyear, Bridgestone or Kelly radials for around $450) Just let us know after the auction if you would like that done. The upkeep on this Grand Marquis has been second to none. You should be starting to get the picture here folks. Outstanding appearance and regular maintenance of this luxury sedan. Who will be the lucky, and I do mean very lucky, new owner. Very clean interior and the wood accents really define this ultra-luxurious interior. This is a great car! With a 220 hp V8 this luxury sedan really moves! And, if you live in the North East, don't worry about it. This Grand Marquis GS is equipped for any driving condition. With Traction Control and heated mirrors, winter driving is a breeze! We have this attractive and low mileage 2001 Mercury priced incredibly for a fast sale. Lowest priced in the country for this year and mileage. All this beauty needs is a new home. Being a local Palm Beach, Florida vehicle its entire life make a BIG difference. Clean, corrosion-free undercarriage, smooth, flat roads with no hills and potholes in this Sunny and Warm climate--your suspension will thank you for that, as will the transmission. All these things add up to a better vehicle. No disappointments here. Additionally, this car has never been smoked in. If you hit the Buy-It-Now, we will assist with transport within the Continental US. We list our vehicles to sell, and many sell with just a simple phone call to our sales associate. Don't miss out on this one. Among one of the best $6,000 cars you can buy on the market today. I know this would be my choice. The mileage is incredibly low for the model year at only 19,000 documented miles. And remember, these were Florida miles, and a bonus with the reasons mentioned above. Buy and Bid with confidence on this completely serviced vehicle. Please feel free to call or e-mail us and enjoy a wonderful buying experience. 561.283.9511 and ask for Steve. I am also including both sets or original laser-cut keys, as well as factory remote. Also, a complete set of the factory carpeted floor mats. They are still in excellent condition, and as you can imagine, the vehicle carpets are still like new. Crystal clean CarFax and AutoCheck reports with absolutely no accidents or any kind. Please feel free to call 561.283.9511 for more details or a walk around the vehicle. We have the clean Florida title in-hand ready for immediate transfer to the new lucky owner. Clean trade-in value is slightly below our attractive Buy-It-Now price, so, this is truly a no-brainer for those of you that want a full-size premium luxury touring sedan and an exclusive Florida owned-and-driven pedigree (and a huge trunk good enough for 4 full-size suitcases, 4 golf bags, etc. Don't make this mistake of missing out on this one. We do charge a nominal $299 dealer fee to each purchase. Good Luck to everyone bidding. Bid with confidence and Bid to win!

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.

Car Stories: Owning the SHO station wagon that could've been

Fri, Oct 30 2015

A little over a year ago, I bought what could be the most interesting car I will ever own. It was a 1987 Mercury Sable LS station wagon. Don't worry – there's much more to this story. I've always had a soft spot for wagons, and I still remember just how revolutionary the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable were back in the mid-1980s. As a teenager, I fell especially hard for the 220-horsepower 1989 Ford Taurus SHO – so much so that I'd go on to own a dozen over the next 20 years. And like many other quirky enthusiasts, I always wondered what a SHO station wagon would be like. That changed last year when I bought the aforementioned Sable LS wagon, festooned with the high-revving DOHC 3.0-liter V6 engine and five-speed manual transmission from a 1989 Taurus SHO. In addition, the wagon had SHO front seats, a SHO center console, and the 140-mph instrument cluster with mileage that matched the engine. When I bought it, that number was just under 60,000 – barely broken in for the overachieving Yamaha-sourced mill. The engine and transmission weren't the only upgrades. It wore dual-piston PBR brakes with the choice Eibach/Tokico suspension combo in front. The rear featured SHO disc brakes with MOOG cargo coils and Tokico shocks, resulting in a wagon that handled ridiculously well while still retaining a decent level of comfort and five-door functionality. I could attack the local switchbacks while rowing gears to a 7,000-rpm soundtrack just as easily as loading up on lumber at the hardware store. Over time I added a front tower brace to stiffen things a bit as well as a bigger, 73-mm mass airflow sensor for better breathing, and I sourced some inexpensive 2004 Taurus 16-inch five-spoke wheels, refinished in gunmetal to match the two-tone white/gunmetal finish on the car. That, along with some minor paint and body work, had me winning trophies at every car show in town. And yet, what I loved most about the car wasn't its looks or performance, but rather its history. And here's where things also get a little philosophical, because I absolutely, positively love old used cars. Don't get me wrong – new cars are great. Designers can sculpt a timeless automotive shape, and engineers can construct systems and subsystems to create an exquisite chassis with superb handling and plenty of horsepower. But it's the age and mileage that turn machines into something more than the sum of their parts.

Ford recalling 126,000 Fusions and Milans over wheel separation concern

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

Ford has announced a recall of certain Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A total of 128,616 2010 and 2011 models equipped with steel wheels may have been manufactured with wheel studs that could crack and split over time. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a wheel separation.
According to The Detroit News, the company is aware of a total of 30 wheel separation incidents, one of which occurred on the front of the vehicle. Even so, no injuries have been reported as a result of the defect.
The problem apparently stems from the fact that the mounting pads on the vehicles' steel wheels may have been faulty from the factory. In addition, the wheel mounting face on rear disc brakes may not have been installed properly. Ford will inspect the rear disc face and replace them as necessary. In addition, the company will replace all of the vehicle's wheel studs free of charge. Head to the NHTSA website for more information, and click past the jump to view the full recall notice.
