1974 Cougar XR-7. This car is one of one of the 92,670 Cougars sold in 74. I have a Marti Report that I purchased last year. I just don't have time for the car and my extra money if any goes to a couple of other cars I have. This car came with all the reg options plus a Factory 460 4BBL Engine with C-6 and 3:25 Posi. It also has Tilt, Cruise, Power Everything including Seats, Windows, Door Locks, has Factory Tach, Gauge Package instead of lights, Clock, AM FM Stereo with 8 Track Tape Deck, Delayed Wipers, Rear Window Defrost, and Trailer Tow Package Class II. Need to sell as it is getting a lot of Rust Problems in the lower doors and quarters. I rebuilt the Engine years ago just before I parked it with New Pistons and the whole 9 yards so to speak. The block had no wear so I was able to keep it standard but still put in new pistons. The block must be a High Nickel Truck Block due to the Tow Package to have Zero Wear with around 126,000 miles or more. Would like to sell for $2,500. just so I don't have to crush a One of One Car with a Rebuilt 460. I have too many engines now and no room. I have about 30 engines and other parts. It is a deal. You can't pull the engine, do a professional rebuild and reinstall the engine for less than $5,000. The car also has Black Leather interior although it needs new front covers. Mike. 704-516-8033. Another Donor Car from 1974 to 1976 Cougars, Montego, or Gran Torino Elite parts work. This would make a nice awesome car. Plus if you have a Street Strip or all out Drag Car you can use this Trailer Tow Package Cougar as the Tow Vehicle to Haul your Drag Cougar or other car to the track. Due to the car sitting for so long I cannot warranty anything about the car. I did however remove the gas tankseveral years ago, flush it and the fuel lines, rebuild the carb and with new gas the engine fired up without any problems at all. Call with any questions. Mike, 704-516-8033.

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.

Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes

Mon, 18 Jul 2011

Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement.
