This is a 1994 mercury Capri convertible The 1994 had the lowest production numbers and is one of the best years for the Capri it has Duel airbags 4 wheel disc brakes , this car has a one year only color of Cobalt blue this color was only offered in 1994 in a bright sunlight it has a purple hue to it  real rich color . This car runs real nice has good oil pressure and the engine is real peppy,It has an automatic transmission  but I think it needs work or a rebuild as it hesitates to shift from 2nd to 3rd it is still drive able but the tranny will need service the car has had a previous repaint but it was a low end job as there is runs in the paint. The body is rust free but does have dings and some minor dents , the interior is solid and clean not bad for a 20 year old car  all the gauges work as well as the windows the A/C does not work it turns on but is not cold un-like the early model capris the 1994 has the new R134 Freon so its a cheap fix to repair.it has an aftermarket radio C/D player the radio works but I could not get the c/d to work  The convertible top is a couple years old and is nice and solid these cars are excellent on gas and real fun to drive the 1994 year is the most collectible year .The car has a clear title it is Not registered at this time if you are a California resident I am selling this car without a California smog cert. I have not had it smog but I am sure it would pass as it is totally original and intact I am selling this car cheap AS-IS buyer needs to pick up in San Diego Calif.

Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?

Fri, May 27 2016

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Capri

Mon, Sep 19 2016

Ford has gotten a lot of use out of the Capri name in the United States. First, there was the Lincoln Capri in the 1950s, followed by the Ford Capri Mk1 (which was sold by Mercury dealers in the USA but never actually badged as a Mercury). Then came the 1979-1986 Mercury Capri, built on the very successful Fox Platform and essentially a clone of the Mustang. Finally, in 1991, the Australian Ford Capri came to the United States. Here is an example of this rare car that I spotted in a Northern California self-service yard not long ago. Mechanically speaking, the 1991-1994 Capri was a Mazda 323 under the skin, complete with a member of the same B-series engine family that went into such cars as the Miata and Ford Escort. So, for a few years in the early 1990s, car shoppers who wanted a sporty Mazda convertible could choose between a Miata and a Capri. The Capri had front-wheel-drive, but could be had with factory turbocharging. These cars were reliable and fun, but had a tough time competing with the Miata in the showroom battles. You'll see the occasional example now and then, but most of the 1991-1994 Capris have met the same fate that awaits this one. Related Video:
