Tons of storage compartments and very easy to drive. Don't let the size fool you, my wife had no problem driving it because it drives and handles like a much smaller vehicle and easily fits into a regular parking spot. I was very pleasantly surprised by this. Kudos to Mercedes. Sticker price was nearly 53,000.00, this thing is loaded! You can own this new Sprinter for much less.

Mercedes S-Class Cabrio caught nearly naked

Thu, Feb 19 2015

The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a handsome car, and its new two-door variant is positively dashing. Considering that, did you really think Mercedes would shake things up when it finally came time to drop the top on its flagship luxury model? Nope, neither did we. This is the S-Class Cabriolet, and from the beltline down, it's basically the same fixed-roof car we tested back in October – same grille, same headlights, same twin character lines in the profile. This is not a bad thing. We're betting it'll wear very similar taillights to the S-Class Coupe, although it's difficult to tell on the more heavily camo'd example of the luxurious droptop. Differences, meanwhile, are kept to the absolute minimum. The windshield looks more aggressively raked, and the inclusion of a canvas roof has softened the Coupe's svelte profile, but other than that, there aren't many changes at all. Expect the S-Class Sedan and Coupe's engine lineup to inform the powertrain strategy for the Cabriolet, meaning a base S550 with a 4.7-liter, twin-turbocharged V8. It's unclear if AMG variants will be offered, although we wouldn't bet against it. Our spies report that the S-Class Cabrio will saunter into dealers later this year, eager to steal the lunch money of the aging BMW 6 Series Convertible. We're betting on a European auto show debut, so keep an eye open at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. If not there, Frankfurt seems like a likely destination for the new droptop.

Daimler CEO Zetsche answers 'Most likely' to question of a Maybach SUV

Fri, Jan 16 2015

When Dieter Zetsche was asked about the possibility of getting Maybach, the reimagined Mercedes-Benz ultra-luxury sub-brand, into the premium SUV game, the Daimler CEO reportedly told Auto Express, "Most likely." Those two little words aren't a firm answer – let alone an indication of timing – but we wouldn't be shocked to find out Mercedes is already working on one. Range Rover has gone even more upscale, the Bentley Bentayga is coming this year, as will the Maserati Levante. Rolls-Royce is deciding on an SUV this year (we think it's only a matter of time before they say "yes"), the Lamborghini Urus is still expected in 2018, Aston Martin is raising funds to build a crossover, and there have been rumors of a BMW X7 and Audi Q9 for years. Point being, everyone is busy writing their own invite to this ultra posh party. The latest comments would appear to put to rest any will-they/won't-they questions around a high-riding Maybach offering. There were rumors last summer that a GL-Class SUV (a model range shortly to be known as GLS-Class) with revamped styling and lots of luxury touches would join the top-tier sub-brand, but then in November, Mercedes' global head of sales and marketing told Automotive News, "I don't want to categorically rule anything out, but at this stage we have no plans for it [a Maybach SUV]." If and when a Maybach utility does become official, we'll only be picking up where we left off with the brand's previous incarnation: a GL-based Maybach was rumored way back in 2007. Mercedes-Benz killing Maybach in 2013, replacing with S600 Pullman

Fri, 25 Nov 2011

According to an unnamed Mercedes-Benz source speaking with AutoWeek, the German automaker is killing off its Maybach line in 2013.
The unsurprising news comes after the brand was resurrected in 2002, but failed to meet sales expectations with its two core models, the Maybach 57 and 62. Further solidifying its fate, a deal with Aston Martin to aid in the development of future Maybachs fell through earlier this year.
According to the AutoWeek insider, the plan is to continue to sell both Maybach models through the end of 2013, after which the fifth-generation S-Class will go on sale. When that happens, three new variants of the S-Class will be available, including an all-new, range-topping S600 that brings back the Pullman moniker and may be better suited to competing with the likes of Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
