2000 Mercedes Slk 230 Kompressor Sport W/amg Package on 2040-cars
Mankato, Minnesota, United States
Mercedes Benz 2000 SLK 230 Sport Kompressor, 123,000 miles, clean title, great shape.
AMG package, Heated seats, AC, Power windows/locks, remote security, supercharged. A little about the car, I bought it 3 seasons ago, stored it every winter. I had the local Import mechanic replace the headgasket and intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, tune it up and ever since it runs like a top. Compression checked fine and the plugs all look good. Stored winters, no rust, looks fantastic! A few things to know, there is no spare tire, I never had a use for it and just carried a can of fix-a-flat (it also makes the trunk considerably bigger!). The interior is in good shape, but the front dash panel is a little loose, I'm sure it's just a clip or two that came loose, but I haven't had time to fix that. Passanger seat has some UV cracking, but is fine. This is the SPORT model, which came out in 2000 and included a full AMG body kit, with the very desirable 18" AMG monoblock rims. You may wonder why are the rims black? Well I was in the mood to "murder" it last year and had them plasti-coated. Don't like them black? Just peel the coating off or use a pressure washer, very easy google it if you're not sure what this is. Air conditioning works great. A list of what I've done to it in the past 3 seasons. - New KYB struts all the way around - New Brakes pads about 10K ago - New steering damper - New rear tires last season ( about 3/4 tread on front & rear) - Replaced front roof hydraulic seals (common problem on SLK) - New headliner - Had fluids flushed at the Benz dealer last year (Rear Diff, Brake & Coolant) - Updated headlights to reflector style (huge improvement!) - Updated running lights with the LED package - New Alpine CD/MP3/IPHONE interface with JBL speakers. - Dynomatted the door & trunk which helped the sound quite a bit. - Updated Grill with OEM black CLK grill - New ignition switch - New key fob (another $300 dealer item but when you pull it out, it looks great!) - Just changed the Oil to Mobil 1 about 100 miles ago. Why am I selling it? I wish I wasn't, but I've got a new 16 year old driver and while I'd be happy if she drove the Benz, the wife wants her to drive a bigger all wheel drive car for Minnesota Winters. |

Mercedes and VW battling Uber and Apple to spend billions on Nokia mapping division
Tue, May 12 2015Whether for autonomous driving or simply better navigation, digital mapping is closely linked with the future of motoring. The sale of a major player in that industry is spurring a showdown between automotive behemoths and tech giants, and it's a fascinating battle to watch unfold. Nokia is selling its Here mapping division, and while the company might not have the name recognition of Google, it controls about 70 percent of the auto market. The business is valued at $785 million, according to Reuters, but is likely to sell for significantly more. Case in point: Uber reportedly submitted a $3 billion bid. Apple has also been rumored to be among those interested in purchasing Here. A trio of German automotive heavyweights is mounting a challenge to Silicon Valley, though. According to Reuters speaking to two unnamed insiders, Daimler, BMW, and Audi are teaming up to submit a joint bid for an undisclosed sum. They're worried that if Here falls under the control of tech companies, then automakers might have limited availability to these vital maps in the future. Nokia bought Here for $8.1 billion in 2007, according to Reuters. The company operates a fleet of vehicles with cameras and LIDAR that drive around the world to create high-definition maps. It also generates even more information by using the GPS data from shipping and trucking companies.
Mercedes-Benz introduces new heavy security M-Class Guard model
Tue, 19 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new addition to the company's line of personal security vehicles. The M-Class Guard features bullet-proof side windows made with special laminated glazing and a polycarbonate inner layer to protect occupants from shards of glass. Mercedes says the M-Class Guard meets protection level VR4 according to the Bullet Resistant Vehicles 2009 standards, based on testing from the independent Ulm-based Ballistics Bureau, which means it can withstand .357 Magnum and .44 fire from multiple angles. It can also stand up to the DM51 hand grenade when equipped with optional floor armoring. Why skimp?
Buyers looking for protection from the world's literal slings and arrows can opt for the ML350 BlueTEC with its 258 horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine. With 457 pound-feet of torque, the oil-burner should have no trouble hustling the privileged class about. Of course, the ML500 offers a bit more punch courtesy of a 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 with 408 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Prices start at 105,050 euros for the diesel and 118,650 euros for the V8. You can check out the full press release below for more information.
New Mercedes E-Class nearly exposed, may be Maybach
Mon, Sep 14 2015The all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is marching closer and closer to production, with a new round of spy photos giving us our best look yet at the S-Class-inspired looks of the German brand's executive luxury car. There really is very little camouflage this time around – what's there looks more like the kind of plastic wrapping you'd see on a freshly imported vehicle at the port. In front, we can see the new E will wear similar LED accents to the S- and C-Class. The E-Class' big and little brothers also inspired the tail of the new model, where we can see slightly disguised, vertically oriented LED taillights. Prominent, enclosed exhausts are very similar to what we saw in our spy shots of the Mercedes-Maybach E-Class. Aside from the exhausts, this particular car also wears the same blingy wheels as the range-topping tester we spied last August. The thick-rimmed, multi-spoke design isn't the only giveaway to this car's luxurious intentions, though. Our last Maybach sighting showed a car completely covered in camo, making it difficult to tell just how large the rear doors are relative to the car we're seeing today. Instead of the doors, though, we suggest you look at the windows. Like the August spy photos, this prototype features tinted rear glass, which could perhaps indicate that we're looking at yet another example the second Mercedes-Maybach model. So is this yet another Maybach E-Class? We're leaning towards yes. The size of the back doors – and the rear quarter window, in particular – is close enough to what we saw last month, and the presence of tinted glass, the same exhausts, and the same wheels can't be discounted either.
