Hi, I am selling my 1969 Mercedes 280SL roadster. I am the second owner and this an original car with CA black and yellow plates.

If you have ever wanted to, dreamed of or thought of owning one of these then this is the car for you.

I searched for one for many years and stumbled across this one by chance and after 8 months of discussions was able to adopt if from the original owner.

This car has all of its original panels and anyone who is familiar with these 113 models will know what they're looking at when they start looking. For those of you that don't here is what to look for and this car has it.

Original spot welds on every panel, fender notches at the bezels, dimpled texture grain  firewall pad ( they do not reproduce this texture anywhere), the original plastic insert in the floor shifter housing (they do not reproduce this); the original spare tire cover, jack, tool kit (likely never used)

The original interior, carpets, trunk mat, visors, motor, trans, etc.

This car is as came from the factory and purchased by the original owner.

Original paint with 7.6 - 8 mils all around

I have the original title, and original documents all the way from 1969 - today. Both sets of original keys. All of the original factory literature and owners documents that came with the car except the data plate which they could not find. It does have the original book that the data plate came in and where the data plate was removed. You can get another from the MBZ classic center..

I have the original frigiking ac warranty card which is very rare. I have the original set of chains purchased from the dealer as the original owner was terrified of getting caught in a snow storm going over the pass. The chains were never used and no snow storm was ever encountered which always seems the case when you have chains!!

I have the original convertible top chrome handles and pouch as shown in the picture. The original soft top is on the car and the hardtop is in my garage. It is black and the wood is beautiful.

So I could go on and on about this car being an unmolested example but I think you get the idea and I would not want to detract from the beautiful condition of this vehicle. Yes, there are some dings, paint chips and scratches but that being said, this car is still a 10 out of 10 for an original car.

The paint shines for the most part with some wear and age on the hood and trunk as can be expected from years of use with lacquer paint. The rims seem like new. the interior panels and dash seem like new. The seats have no tears or rips although they have 133000 miles on them.

The chrome and bright work are lovely

What makes this car rare is the condition, ownership and traceable history. I said it before and I truly mean it and that is why I purchased it, if you have ever wanted one, this is the one.

The car is being sold to help with funds for a down payment on a home. I am recently married and we would like to have our "own" together.

If you have any questions please just ask. I have hundreds of hi res images I can send to your personal email and will be uploading a short video on you tube soon.

Read my feedback, see what I have sold and bid with confidence knowing what I say is what you will receive.

The car is registered in CA and I have the title in hand.

I will end it there before I change my mind.

Good luck and drive em, don't hide em.

Bob

I just want to let everyone know that I am truly overwhelmed by the interest in my car and will try to get back to each and everyone of you as soon as I can.

I serviced the transmission, differential, engine oil, and AC 1000 miles ago.

If you have any questions I can be reached at 714-612-1267

Thanks,
Bob

2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 First Drive [w/videos]

Mon, Mar 30 2015

On the flight out to Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, I thought I had a pretty good idea of what to expect on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 launch. I figured I'd drive down gravel and dirt roads, and then I'd take a Sprinter on a brief, pre-planned, crawling off-road course with Mercedes guides helping me along, Perrier water and fresh pastries at every third checkpoint. I've done off-road drives before, and while they do a perfectly nice job of showing the capability of a vehicle and its four-wheel-drive system, they're usually somewhat predictable and, I guess, safe. I also knew I'd be going to the middle of nowhere, but I assumed that'd just be a small town nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. You know, a city anchored by its ski resort, but with all the amenities of a fully functional community. Something like Revelstoke, BC, where I spent my first night on the trip – kind of out in the wilderness, but a place where my iPhone could still pick up a solid 4G signal. But 24 hours later I found myself in a truly remote, off-the-grid part of the world, faced with a route that was anything but pre-arranged. And I wasn't in a G-Wagen, or some other off-roader – I was going to do all of this in a Sprinter van. Of course, this wouldn't be the first time Autoblog has taken a Sprinter far, far off the beaten path, and isn't the first time we've driven this generation of Mercedes' van. Home base was the CMH Monashee Lodge in Mica Creek, BC – a location so out-there that, according to Wikipedia, it "is no longer incorporated as a village." I had lost cell signal some 50 miles back, and the lodge was the only thing around, with its small staff, my fellow journalists and the Mercedes handlers the only human beings inhabiting the area. (Wait, haven't I heard this one before?) The drive from Revelstoke to Mica Creek was easy – 56 miles, all on Canada Highway 23 that runs alongside the Columbia River. It was breathtaking, with mountain forests still covered in snow from the winter, and the (mostly) thawed river flowing peacefully to my left as I drove north. There were no telephone poles, no stoplights and no traffic save the occasional logging truck. The road signs didn't point to exits toward other towns, but instead warned of possible run-ins with moose or bears, and let me know not to stop on specific parts of the highway unless I wanted to experience an avalanche up close.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class spied once again

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

As evidenced by how little camouflage the next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been caught wearing lately, it can't be too much longer until the car will get its official debut. In our newest shots of the yacht-sized luxo sedan, the cladding still covers up the headlights, front fascia and most of the rear end, but we finally have an almost undisguised look at the rest of the car's lines.
Considering previous spy shots had more camo that better (or fully) concealed the S-Class' body, some of the more obvious things we see in these images include the prominent grille, the CLS-Class-inspired bodyside creases, the pointed trunk opening and, most interestingly, a lack of fancy exhaust outlets. Unlike other S-Class prototypes we've seen, this car does not have integrated outlets, but it does have two pipes on the left side of the car. All current S-Class models in the US and Europe feature a dual exhaust layout on each side of the car, so while some of our questions about the car get answered, it would appear that more are just arising.

Mercedes-Benz EQC vs. Jaguar I-Pace vs. Tesla Model X: How they compare on paper

Tue, Sep 4 2018

The Mercedes-Benz EQ line is officially alive and kicking, with the reveal of the EQC electric crossover. It joins a segment that, while still in its infancy, seems ready to take off. Mercedes lists as the EQC's competitors the Jaguar I-Pace, The Audi E-Tron Quattro and the BMW iX3. While we've seen all of these, at least in concept or pre-production form, only one — the Jag — has actually been launched in production form. We've seen a concept and subsequent spy shots of the iX3, and the Audi EV will get its official specs publicized later this month. One electric SUV Mercedes didn't specifically call out was the Tesla Model X. As such, we've decided to compare on paper the Mercedes-Benz EQC 400, the Jaguar I-Pace S and the Tesla Model X 75D: All three are dual-motor EVs, though the Tesla is the longest and tallest. The EQC has the most power, but it and the Model X's 4.9-second 0-60 times fall short of the I-Pace. It also has the lowest top speed and electric driving range. (Mercedes sent us an updated range figure, but it's using the generous and largely outdated NEDC cycle; we're still waiting on an EPA rating.) We'll be interested to see how much the Mercedes weighs. Mercedes hasn't divulged the price of the EQC yet, but we imagine it'll fall pretty near to the $70,000 mark. As for Audi, we'll revisit this comparison after those details are made available on September 17. If you're interested in some other EV comparisons, we have a couple others that we published to compare the I-Pace to premium Teslas, as well as against other less-expensive EVs. If you want to learn more about these EVs, and compare them with other cars, be sure to check out our Car Finder and comparison tools.
