The car deserves to be put on a truck and trailered to its next home if you are out of State. It is one of the nicest, original, and well preserved mileage SL500 Convertibles you may see. The pictures tell most of the story...... and it is even more impressive in person.

I reserve the right to end the listing early for any reason, as it is also being listed on other resources. We are not dreaming about selling with an unrealistic price. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly at: 305-302-4617Properly stored year round and only driven in good weather.

1998 Mercedes Benz SL500 Conv. w/ 24000 miles - ( Last year built by MB, then it went to Chrysler ) Very desirable in this condition - looks / drives brand new - Red / Beige / Beige. Everybody that knows this car says it still looks like it has been in a Dealership for all of these years. It is an awesome, non-smoking, 1 family owner ( Dealer serviced - see pic. of records ), that has been babied, always garaged, and barely seen rain. It is in outstanding, all original condition. It has never been in accident, no body damage, or modified in any way whatsoever. I have all of the original paperwork, books, window sticker, hardtop stand / cover ( see pic ).  CAR NEEDS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

The Red exterior shines like new. The moldings, handles, window glass, lettering, rubber seals, and all other exterior features are in crisp new condition. The wheels look brand new and the Continental tires are almost new. The tan soft top has 0 wear ( I did not take the hardtop off because you need 2 people around ). Never run through an automatic car wash and always hand washed / waxed are a great part as to why it still looks so fabulous. No rust, damage, or wear to the undercarriage.

On the inside, the Beige interior still looks, feels, and maintains that newer appeal. As you can see in the pics, the seats have always been covered, and the orig. beige floor mats are perfect. The door panels, carpeting, dash, center console, faceplates, etc. are unmarked. All of the interior buttons / switches ( power windows, door locks, cruise, heated seat option, antenna, and 6 way power seats ) work without issue. The stereo system w/ multi CD still plays perfect.

Mechanically, it starts, idles, and drives smoothly as a "well-oiled" machine should. All service is marked in the booklet and is up to date - a/c, belts, hoses, fluids all changed / maintained at the proper intervals, The engine compartment is clean / dry, and it performs without hesitation. No corner has been cut or expense spared.

No doubt the next owner will have years of enjoyable and trouble free use, turning their heads when you pull up or drive by. It makes an great statement.

Recharge Wrap-up: Shift to offer Teslas for Hire, Model S P85D beats Ferrari in drag race

Mon, Dec 15 2014

A company called Shift plans to provide bikes and EVs for hire. Based in Las Vegas, NV, Shift will provide chauffeured ride services like Uber, but will also include a car- and bike-sharing service that delivers the desired wheels to the customer. Shift's fleet will include EVs like the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive and the Tesla Model S. Shift also promises that you will, "Be on your way within five minutes," which is a pretty tall order. Shift is scheduled to be available to members beginning this fall. Read more at The Car Connection. Nissan UK has confirmed the price of replacement batteries for the Leaf. UK drivers will be able to buy new batteries for 4,920 pounds (or about $7,738). That's considerably more than the price of $5,499 for US customers. Customers get 1,000 pounds back when they exchange their old battery. The original battery is covered under a five-year, 60,000-mile warranty, and most owners will never need to replace it. According to Nissan, only three replacement batteries have been sold out of 30,000 Leafs sold in Europe. Read more at Autocar. The Tesla Model S P85D walloped a Ferrari in an impromptu drag race video. The Ferrari driver pulls up alongside the Tesla and asks, "What you got in there?" before challenging him to a race. The Ferrari gets a head start, but the Tesla pulls out ahead quickly. The video also gets the reactions of some passengers to the car's mighty acceleration. See the video below and read the account of a drag race against a Lamborghini Aventador at Car Throttle. Australian website Drive has chosen their Cars of the Year in various categories. The Tesla Model S was a carryover winner for Luxury Car Over $80,000, but the Mercedes-Benz C200 narrowly overtook it to be crowned the overall winner. Regarding the Model S, one judge says, "This makes every other EV look at least a generation behind." The main thing that held the Tesla back from winning outright was the near-term lack of charging infrastructure. The judges did note Tesla's plans to build a network of Superchargers in Australia, but also pointed out that those plans exclude much of the country so far. Race Recap: Abu Dhabi GP is reversals, luck, leanness and last dances

Mon, Nov 24 2014

We weren't sure if Alter Ego Nico Rosberg, the one who flew into Brazil and showed Mercedes AMG Petronas teammate Lewis Hamilton that he knew also knew how to grab an entire race weekend by the scruff of the neck, arrived in Abu Dhabi. In both Friday practice sessions Hamilton showed Rosberg the way. Then on Saturday, Alter Ego Rosberg took over, taking the last Free Practice session and then pole position by a whopping four-tenths of a second over Hamilton. Thanks to the gimmicky and soon-to-be-obliterated spectre of double points, if Rosberg won the race and Hamilton finished lower than second, the World Championship would remain in German hands. Behind Hamilton came the Williams duo, again, with Valtteri Bottas ahead of Felipe Massa. Daniil Kvyat did swell to put his Toro Rosso in fifth, Jenson Button was just as swell getting his McLaren into sixth. Kimi Raikkonen outqualified his Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso for the third time this year, the pair taking seventh and eighth on the grid. Kevin Magnussen lined the second McLaren up in ninth, Jean-Eric Vergne making the top ten for Toro Rosso in his last race for the team. To be clear, that was the final grid for race: Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel had both qualified in the top ten but were sent to the back of the grid when their Infiniti Red Bull Racing front wings were deemed illegal. They'd start from the pit lane, which was still ahead of Romain Grosjean in the Lotus, who took so many penalties for new engine components that he started the race in Turkey. At lights-out on Sunday, well, it was pretty much lights out. That's when Hamilton got the start of the year, bolting off the line so quickly it didn't take him 100 meters to get in front of Rosberg. The Brit took Turn 1 in the lead, then laid more than a second into the German on the first lap. Rosberg kept close, about 2.5 seconds back, but it was Hamilton's race to lose and everyone knew it; barring a reliability issue or the kind of driving mistake Hamilton hasn't made all year, Britain would have its fourth double world champion. Rosberg was left asking his engineer what kind of strategy they might use to claim first place. That reliability issue did come, but it struck Rosberg on Lap 26 when his entire Energy Recovery System failed, robbing him of 160 horsepower and taxing his brakes.
