1989 MEREDES 560SL, THE LAST YEAR OF THE LEGENDARY 107 SL, A RUNNING AND DRIVING APPRECIATING CLASSIC THAT NEEDS ONLY THE MOST MINOR OF TLC TO BRING IT BACK TO GLORY. I HAVE OWNED/RESTORED 23 107 SL'S OVER MY LIFETIME AND IT IS MY SECOND FAVORITE CAR BEHIND THE LATE 70'S PORSCHE 930, WHICH INCIDENTALLY IS WHY I'M SELLING THE SL. JUST BOUGHT A 79' 930 WITH RIDICULOUSLY LOW MILES. HAVE ONLY ONE GARAGE SPOT LEFT, SO I MADE THE CHOICE IN FAVOR OF THE 930.
I PURCHASED THE SL LAST YEAR FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER(YES, IT HAD ONE OWNER FOR THE FIRST 23 YEARS OF IT'S 24 YEAR LIFE). A WELL TO DO ELDERLY GENT ON LONG ISLAND WHO SAID HE SPENT AS MUCH ON MAINTENANCE OVER THE YEARS AS THE CAR COST WHEN HE BOUGHT IT NEW. I ASKED FOR SERVICE RECORDS BUT HE WAS A LITTLE FOGGY ON WHERE THEY MAY BE, BUT HE DID PROVIDE SOME IN EXCESS OF $22,000+. THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES STRONG, STARTS RIGHT UP, AND NEVER SMOKES COLD OR HOT. TRANNY SHIFTS AS IT SHOULD. A/C WORKS BUT SHOULD BE COLDER. CENTRAL LOCKING WORKS AS IT SHOULD. CORRECT HARDTOP INCLUDED. THIS IS WHAT I JUST DID: ---JUST INSTALLED NEW SOFTOP---SEATS LOOK GOOD BUT A LITTLE DRY IN THE SEAMS. APPLIED LEATHER REJUVENATOR WHICH WORKED WELL---ABS AND SRS LIGHTS CYCLE CORRECTLY---INSTALLED NEW LEATHER ARMREST COVER---HAS SONY TUNER W/ REMOTE AND 6X9 SPEAKERS IN DECK, SOUNDS GOOD---CUSTOM LEATHER WHEELSKIN ON STEERING WHEEL---SHIFT CONSOLE WOOD RESTORED---VISORS EXCELLENT---DASH HAS 1 OR 2 CRACKS---OLDER REPAINT SHOWS WELL---#702 SMOKE SILVER---CORRECT CHROME WHEEL ARCH MOLDINGS AND DOOR EDGE GUARDS---CORRECT CHROME ALLOYS WITH ALMOST NEW CONTI'S---4 SPARE RIMS INCLUDED---NEW BRAKES AND SENSORS ALL AROUND---NEW FRONT CALIPERS---NEW POWER ANTENNA---NEW EXHAUST AND HANGERS FROM MIDDLE - BACK---NEW BOSCH PLATINUM 4 PLUGS---NEW IDLE CONTROL VALVE---NEW IDLE MODULE---NEW FOG LIGHT LENSES---NEW FUEL INJECTOR NOZZLES, SEALS, AND HOSES---NEW VALVE COVER GASKETS---NEW STEERING SHOCK/DAMPER---NEW TOP FUEL LINE AND FUEL COOLER LINE($450 FROM BENZ)---IF YOUR COUNTING, THAT'S $6000 + IN PARTS AND LABOR---ORIGINAL MANUALS, TOOLS AND FIRSTAID KIT INCLUDED.
THINGS THAT NEED A LITTLE TLC...: TOP OF DASH HAS 1 OR 2 CRACKS. NOT TERRIBLE BUT A DASH COVER WOULD QUICKLY FIX THIS---TRANNY LEAKS A LITTLE INTERMITTENTLY, COULD USE A FILTER KIT W/ GASKET---PLUGS ARE NEW BUT REST OF TUNE UP PARTS WOULD COMPLETE THE TUNE UP----HAS A FEW CHIPS HERE AND THERE BUT NOT MANY---COUPLE OF BULBS ARE OUT
OVERALL IT IS A WELL-LOVED AND CARED-FOR EXAMPLE OF A CLASSIC THAT WILL ONLY INCREASE IN VALUE. 1989 IS THE LAST AND MOST REFINED YEAR FOR THESE CARS. IT IS SOLD "AS IS", AS IT IS A 24 YEAR OLD CAR AND WAS DRIVEN 9000 MILES/YEAR ON AVERAGE, BUT IT HAS PLENTY OF LIFE LEFT, A TIMELESS LOOK, AND PLENTY OF MONETARY APPRECIATION JUST AROUND THE CORNER. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. I CAN TALK ABOUT THESE CARS ALL DAY!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Mercedes teases a new Maybach concept convertible
Wed, Aug 9 2017Once again, Mercedes is taking a Vision concept to the Pebble Beach Concours this year. To start generating excitement, the company has released a teaser trailer for the car, and effectively no other information. But we think we've pieced together what the car is. Let's look at the video first. It shows a voluptuous blue body. It's all curves and clean lines inside and out. It also has an impressively prodigious prow with a proud three-pointed star at the front. The interior is all white with very little detail, and in addition to chrome, there are many copper trim pieces. There appear to be only two seats, too. Toward the end, we see a strip of copper trim on the outside as well, and just before the shot changes, we can see a bit of white interior that indicates this is a convertible. So we know this is an elegant, luxurious roadster. Is there anything else we can discern? Well, it seems Mercedes may have accidentally revealed the name of the car, or at least what it's based on. The video's file name includes the words "Maybach six." That happens to be the name of last year's Mercedes-Maybach coupe concept. On top of that, there's a striking resemblance between the long, flowing hoods of both cars. So it seems like a pretty safe bet that Mercedes will show the convertible version of that car, which was 18 feet long, and produced 738 horsepower from a quartet of electric motors. We'll find out if we're right when the car is revealed at Pebble Beach. Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers
Mon, 02 Dec 2013If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.
Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG shows up to fight the hottest hatches [w/videos]
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Fun coincidence. On the same day that Audi announces the unveiling of its new S3 Sportback at the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz steals the spotlight by confirming that the all-new A45 AMG will also receive its official debut early next month. Starting life as the entry-level A-Class hatchback, the A45 AMG gets the full AMG treatment, which includes numerous performance, handling and styling upgrades.
Under the hood sits an AMG-tuned 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 breathing through a sport exhaust system helping the five-door produce 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired to a seven-speed AMG dual-clutch transmission and power is sent to the ground using 4Matic all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz says that the A45 AMG will be able to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in under 4.5 seconds and it will have a top speed of 155 mph; in the land of hot hatches, it doesn't get much hotter than that. For added performance and handling, AMG has retuned the A-Class' suspension and steering systems and equipped The A45 with a three-stage stability control system that is specific to this car.
Surprisingly, the exterior styling of the A-Class was already sporty enough that the new model doesn't receive too many changes to become the A45 AMG. The biggest alterations include black accents to the chin spoiler, rocker panels and mirror caps, black wheels with red-painted brake calipers and rectangular dual exhaust outlets. Inside, it doesn't take a trained eye to spot the differences. The flat-bottomed sport steering wheel and the numerous red accents throughout the cabin (including the seatbelts!) really help to make this AMG interior stand out; front passengers will also get sport bucket seats that appear to be more than supportive enough for even the most spirited driving conditions.
