1988 Mercedes SL560 Roadster

The car was purchased new by my father on 11/15/88 for my mother for her 70th birthday from Ray Catena in Edison, NJ. The 1988 Mercedes SL560 Roadster came optioned in Pearl Grey exterior paint and Burgundy Leather interior, with a Navy Blue soft top. Additional Equipment added at the date of purchase was a factory Mercedes Hardtop, a $2,400 option in 1988. (Wow) Original MSRP was $56,305. My mother used the car for occasional trips to the club for golf, or out to dinner. It spent most of the first two decades of its life in a heated garage in NJ. When my mother downsized her home, she offered me the car. I have had it for the last 7 years and have driven it from time to time. I take it to town every now and again, but to be frank no one drives it much any more. Mechanically it is a solid car. The car has never been in an accident, or has had any major mechanical problems. I get it inspected yearly, and keep it fully insured in case I feel like driving it, so the brakes and fluids have been maintained. Tires are good, no major cracks or dry rot and they have roughly 70% tread life left. Since the car sat for many years, the soft top looks brand new, the car sat with the hardtop on it, the Navy blue is as pretty as the day my father brought it home. I mentioned there are two small cosmetic blemishes on the car, above the drivers side molding on the front right quarter panel there is minor surface rust, and then on the rear passenger side rear fender there is a small dent and surface rust on the trim.

This is really a great car, it drives well is with the hard top off, and the top down it would be a great car for someone to enjoy. With my kids grown and mostly out of the house, my husband and I just don't need it and feel it should go to a home where it will be driven more than 2,000mi/year.

Again I don't have to sell the car, so please refrain from low ball offers as they wont be entertained, and frankly you're wasting your time and mine. But all reasonable offers will be considered. I've made sure to take plenty of pictures of the car to best showcase its very good condition. I didn't however get a chance to wash it before I took the pictures, so I apologize for the dust.

I have all the original paperwork, including bill of sale, owners manuals, tool kit, etc and a clean and clear title in hand.

Happy Bidding.

I did some mechanical work on the car when I received in it 2007 and have the receipt for that. All minor.

Mercedes completes production of G63 AMG 6x6

Mon, Apr 6 2015

Considering its 19-foot length, it sure was short-lived. A flash in the pan, really, in so far as a 4-ton beast could possibly be. But the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 is reportedly wrapping up its short production run this month. Based on a military variant of the legendary Gelandewagen but built for civilian consumption, the G63 AMG was – and will likely forever remain – the ultimate version of Benz's ultimate off-roader. It features six driven wheels on three axles with five differentials, all powered by AMG's stalwart 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8. Mercedes rolled out the 6x6 on all its half-dozen driven wheels barely over a year ago, and despite its half-million-dollar sticker price, demand soared. But after selling about 100 of them, the German automaker is putting it to pasture, ensuring its rarity in the annals of off-roader history. In its place, Benz will now begin production of the (relatively and slightly) less bonkers G500 4x42, which employs a tamer 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 driving a more conventional four wheels, and ditches the pickup short-bed for an enclosed wagon body-style, but keeps its eccentric big brother's jacked-up ride height. Those looking for the last word in power, though, will be more interested in the twelve-cylinder G65 that will now be coming to US dealers with a $200k+ sticker price. Related Video:

Missouri Mercedes dealer offering free Smart with every SLS AMG purchase

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is an exquisite sports car that probably needs no help flying off dealer lots, even with a starting price of almost $200,000, but Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City has come up with an interesting incentive to sweeten the deal. For buyers who purchase a new SLS AMG from dealer stock before the end of the year, the dealership is throwing in a new Smart Fortwo from its inventory at no charge... with a required coupon no less.
In addition to being a great tactic to get a little free press, the spare car also makes sense as an alternative to the SLS, which measures more than 15-feet long - almost twice the length of a Fortwo - and has a 563-horsepower engine that sucks down gas at the rate of 13 miles per gallon in city driving (and even that's provided you don't give in to the devil on your shoulder). Plus, at the end of the day, this really isn't that big of an incentive. Being given a slow-selling $12,490 car for the purchase of a model starting at $199,500 represents about a six percent incentive, which is along the lines of a $1,900 rebate for a $30,000 car.
To get the free Smart, just visit the Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City Facebook page, redeem the coupon and then go buy yourself a new SLS AMG. Congratulations!

LA To The Grand Canyon In The Mercedes-Benz Of RVs
Piloting an 8,500-pound motorized house down the highway is far from my idea of fun, yet inexplicably, I'm enjoying myself. My grin has nothing to do with my camper's handling, as this heavily accoutered Mercedes-Benz Sprinter drives like a 25-foot long breadbox. My smile has nothing to do with on-road stability, as the ten-foot-tall, slab-sided vehicle reacts to wind gusts like the vertical stabilizer on a Boeing jet. My delight has nothing to do with its throttle or braking response, either, as both are as numb as your forehead after the eighth beer.
This monstrosity makes me happy for one reason - my passengers are undeniably having a good time.
