This is a two owner Mercedes which has lived in California since about 1982 when its original owner retired and brought it with him from New York. It was originally purchased by way of the European Delivery Program in the fall of 1972 and shows its first US service at Raimondo Motors on 11-14-72. The body on the car is in pristine condition and was extremely well maintained. The paint has been nicely redone and is finished in the gorgeous Mercedes color of Code 387 Blue Metallic and was just stripped down and redone about a year ago. The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is solid as a rock as any life long California car should be. The car is riding on upgraded Mercedes 14" chrome Bundt wheels and has brand new tires! All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in great shape. The soft top is new and in excellent condition, and has almost never been up. The hard top has good seals and the headliner is in awesome shape.

The interior is in great shape all around. The supple blue leather seats are recently completely redone and all in very good condition, and look very nice with no rips or ware lines, which shows the quality of leather used in this car. The dash, door panels, and console are all in very good original shape. The carpets are all very nice are not worn or damaged. All dials and controls function as they should, power windows and antenna also are fully functional. The sound system is also very nice with the upgraded Alpine Bluetooth CD player. Music is crisp and clear and not overwhelming. The sound system definitely adds to the driving experience of this roadster. All lights, gauges switches, and accessories work as they should.

Mechanically, this SL runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. The V8 engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The car was always regularly serviced by Mercedes authorized dealers. The car has had thousand dollars and page after page of service in recent maintenance including all new brakes and rotors, all new engine, transmission, and sub-frame mounts, new fuel pumps, and its 75k tune up service completed. It's all ready to hit the road with the top dropped!

One really special thing about this gorgeous automobile is the large amount of original paperwork and documentation that come with it. How often do you come across these cars with all the original manual, service book, warrantee book, and original instruction cards. This car has everything. I dare you Mercedes collectors to find another small bumper 450SL in this kind of condition with this kind of paperwork anywhere on the market. Its truly amazing.

German carmakers recall 630,000 diesel vehicles in Europe

Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, and Volkswagen will recall over 630,000 cars in Europe, according to reports Friday. No diesel car has been able to get under the legal emissions limit in real-world driving, according to a German government investigation. While only Volkswagen Group has been using a specific "defeat device", other carmakers have been playing with their exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. Depending of the manufacturer, the systems have been cut off at a certain temperature. In a specific test cycle the systems operate to fulfill the legal requirements, but in everyday use the limits are exceeded. According to the magazine Der Spiegel, the supplier Bosch is behind this programming and has provided it to all German automakers. The mentioned carmakers have announced recalls, but many other manufacturers are also mentioned by name in the report, including Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Dacia, Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Nissan, Renault, and Suzuki. PSA Group, which produces Peugeot, Citroen, and DS cars, declared yesterday that its offices were raided following an emissions investigation. Trump calls Germans 'very bad,' vows to stop their car sales in US

TAORMINA, Italy -Talks between President Trump and other leaders of the world's rich nations at the G7 summit on Friday were expected to be "robust" and "challenging" after he had lambasted NATO allies and condemned Germans as "very bad" for their trade policies. Trump's confrontational remarks in Brussels, on the eve of the two-day summit in the Mediterranean resort town of Taormina, cast a pall over a meeting at which America's partners had hoped to coax him into softening his stances on trade and climate change. According to German media reports, Trump condemned Germany as "very bad" for its trade policies in a meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, signaling he might take steps to limit sales of German cars in the United States. "The Germans are bad, very bad," he reportedly told Juncker. "Look at the millions of cars that they're selling in the USA. Horrible. We're gonna stop that." White House economic adviser Gary Cohn on Friday confirmed the reports. "He said they're very bad on trade, but he doesn't have a problem with Germany." Cohn said Trump had pointed out during the meeting that his father had German roots in order to underscore the message that he had nothing against the German people. Trump's spokesman Sean Spicer said Trump had "tremendous respect" for Germany and had only complained about unfair trade practices in the meeting. Juncker called the reports in Spiegel Online and Sueddeutsche Zeitung exaggerated. The reports translated "bad" with the German word "boese," which can also mean "evil," leading to confusion when English-language media translated the German reports back into English. "The record has to be set straight," Juncker said, noting that the translation issue had exaggerated the seriousness of what Trump had said. "It's not true that the president took an aggressive approach when it came to the German trade surplus." "He said, like others have, that (the United States) has a problem with the German surplus. So he was not aggressive at all," Juncker added. In January, Trump threatened to slap a 35 percent tax on German auto imports. "If you want to build cars in the world, then I wish you all the best. You can build cars for the United States, but for every car that comes to the USA, you will pay 35 percent tax," he said.
