Up for sale is my 1966 Mercedes Benz 230SL Pagoda Roadster with both tops, hardtop and softtop, very straight body, all panels fit beautifully, no traces of accident history, doors close beautifully, convertible soft top is tan and was done some years ago and is presentable with no rips or tears. Car was stored inside. Previous owner in North Carolina purchased the car in 1986 in Raleigh and decided to remove the chrome and start sanding down the body to repaint it a few years ago and then lost interest. All chrome is present and has been laid out. Nothing appears missing. Dash is beautiful and original radio is present although not in the car. Nardi wheel is outstanding and horn works. All glass is good with no cracks. Hood has last 4 digits of vin stamped on it. Hardtop has all wood and is complete. Body is sound, some perforations in the trunk, bottom of car is solid. Please see pictures of underneath as well as on top. Interior has been well maintained.
Recently the clutch slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder were removed and refitted so clutch works. Brakes are "up" as well and have a good firm pedal. Gas tank was drained and fresh gas was put in tank. New spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor were also installed as well as a new cartridge type fuel filter. A compression check of all cylinders was done with these results:
Number 1 (closest to radiator): 118
Number 2: 116
Number 3: 119
Number 4: 115
Number 5: 118
Number 6: 116 (closest to windshield)
As you can see there are no "dead" cylinders and that all of the compression figures are very close to one another. As we started the car we noticed that only 3 cylinders were getting gas from the mechanical fuel injection. After we ran the car longer with some fresh gas we saw that 4 cylinders are getting gas. We opened slightly the fittings for cylinders 4 & 5 on top of the fuel injection unit and noticed that the mechanical fuel injection was not "spitting" out fuel when the car was running; some fuel was coming out and the fittings were wet, but the fuel injection was not pumping fuel out for these two cylinders. The car runs better and better after it has been running for a while. No leaks, radiator holds water well, car does not overheat and oil pressure is at the third bar (top bar) on the oil pressure gauge. We pulled the fuse block cover and there are no blown fuses. Interior lights work when the door is opened.
We have posted over 60 photos on the link below:
Body is very straight and would not take much work to make it paint ready.

Mercedes caught testing stretched E-Class Maybach
Fri, Aug 21 2015The Mercedes-Maybach S600 won't be the only vehicle to wear the hyphenated name of two of the world's automotive luxury greats. That hulking S-Class will soon be joined by an E-Class variant, which should offer the same touch of subtle luxury as its big brother. At least, that's what we're guessing based on the latest round of spy photos, showing a stretched E-Class with some very telling camouflage. Pay attention, as our spies did, to the rear doors and C-pillar. Like the Maybach S600, the E-Class model features a larger quarter window, although unlike the S, the doors here look to be a bit larger than your usual E550 or E250. Also take note of the heavy tint on those rear windows. It's likely there to obscure whatever sumptuous hides and warm woods Maybach has fitted to the typically business-class interior. While the interior materials are likely to see sweeping changes, expect Mercedes to treat the exterior with a much gentler touch. There'll probably be some unique wheels and C-pillar-mounted Maybach badges, like what we've already seen on the S600. Check out the full round of spy photos up top, and stay tuned for more on the latest Mercedes-Maybach. Related Video:

Mercedes-Maybach Pullman is the luxury car for the discerning dictator
Fri, Mar 16 2018For decades, Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach cars have been the ride of choice for leaders across the globe, presidents, ambassadors, dictators and despots alike. The Pullman model — a long-wheelbase six-seat variant — has been particularly popular with this select clientele. This week, the German automaker announced the latest version of the car, the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman S650. Essentially, this is a stretched version of the V12-powered Maybach with two rear-facing seats just behind the front row. Mercedes is calling this vis-a-vis seating. There's also a partitioning glass between the front seats and the rear cabin. This is of course to help prevent the chauffeur from learning and spilling any state secrets or plans for plans for secret moon bases. New for this model is a front-facing camera for rear-seat passengers. This allows occupants to watch for any oncoming obstacles, barricades or road blocks. Visually, there's no mistaking the Pullman for another Maybach or really anything else on the road. The car is 21.3-feet long, 4.5-feet longer than the standard Maybach or roughly the size of two and a half Smart Fortwo placed bumper-to-bumper. The requisite 20-inch 10-hole wheels are present and the standard pinstripe Maybach grille has been updated with a slightly new design. The car only comes in S650 trim, meaning it's powered by a 630 horsepower 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12. As expected, the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman isn't cheap. Orders have started, but be prepared to shell out at least $615,000 before adding any custom touches.
