For sale is my 300 SDL. Bought in 2009 from the 2nd. owner.(Always in Florida). I looked at several before going with this one. Even saw one with the trap oxidizer still in, that became a recall item. This car has a chief feature that I havent seen listed with other SDL's, and thats a crate engine acquired at the dealer in 2000 for 12K.! This engine has the -20 cyl. head, much stronger than the original -17 prone to crack mostly as a result of the high temp. generated by the trap oxydizer. This car probably had the cyl. head cracked, overheated to the point of damaging the engine but the original owner decided to keep the car and invest. So the dreaded 300 SDL cyl. head is not a case here. As preventive maintenance I changed the thermostat, flushed the system using only ZEREX G05.
Around the same time the transmission was rebuild at the same dealer too. I serviced the transmission twice with seal and filter also installed and upgraded vacuum modulator valve. This car doesnt run like a diesel, merging into the highway is the answer why in the back it says just TURBO! Very unique, long wheelbase 6 cyl. diesel only build 86 to 87 for the US only, came back in 91 as 350 and with a history of engine damage due to rod bending. This model is probably the most interesting of the Sonderklasse W126. Now the 126 had issues with rust under the rear windshield and this unit has it extensively. See pic. I listed as options leather seats, it actually has MB tex, much better option, probably the reason why theres no cracks or tears. Only the forward armrest has cracks. All the options work including cruise control. I have worked on all the windows at least once, and they function smoothly. Clearcoat is pealing all over I only focused on the mechanics making it a more reliable car than before. Michelins have 60% + treat left. Recent work, changed seals on IP, no leaks Rebuild power steering pump, before it had high and low pressure lines changed plus flush and filter. Serpentine belt, pulley and belt tensioner shock are about 3 years old. AC serviced, blows cold. Since 2009, engine mounts, fuel lines delivery and return, tank strainer, inline filter and filter. Star tron additive. Some front end and front brakes. Feel free to contact me with any questions that may rise. |

New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress
Tue, 19 Feb 2013During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."
Maybach and Aston Martin alliance talks fall apart
Tue, 27 Sep 2011If you have, like us, been salivating at the notion of a new generation of Maybach and Lagonda ultra-luxury crafts built by Aston Martin, we've got some bad news: According to reports emanating from Germany, talks between AML and Daimler have broken down.
The proposal under negotiation would have seen Daimler outsourcing production of the next family of Maybach models to Aston Martin, which in return would benefit from Mercedes-Benz platforms and engines - not only for its svelte GTs, but also for its own future Lagonda line of limousines and luxury SUVs. That, and a boatload of money - or at least that's what AML was reportedly seeking, an issue that served as the stumbling block over which the deal reportedly collapsed.
That's not to say the two parties couldn't still reach some sort of a compromise, but short of that, Daimler may opt to either shut down Maybach altogether, find another partner, or take another stab at building new models internally.
Mercedes testing C-Class plug-in hybrid modes in Germany
Wed, 07 May 2014Testing appears to be underway for what would be the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a hybrid powertrain. We can see a pair of the prototypes undergoing testing in Germany, with one, a C-Class Wagon, still heavily clad in camouflage and featuring a more noticeable outlet on the passenger side of its rear bumper.
There's also a more production-looking sedan, which features a not-so-discreet flap over its rear-bumper outlet. It's difficult to speculate on power outputs for this fuel-sipping C-Class, although our spies seem to think that this car will feature some combination of a four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, although just which four is unclear (note, we wouldn't mind if MB fit its 2.0-liter turbo with some batteries and motors). Regardless, the four-pot/electric motor seems like a pretty reasonable combo, although it probably means that Mercedes won't be challenging the six-cylinder-powered system of the BMW ActiveHybrid3 any time soon.
When the plug-in C-Class arrives later this year as a 2015 model, it will likely offer a full range of driving modes, including both gas or electric, only, as well as a more traditional hybrid mode.
