I am selling my 1995 Mercedes E300 diesel with under 175,000 miles with NO RESERVE!!!  This car is in wonderful shape.  I am the second owner of this car.  I purchased it from the original owner who upgraded to a brand new Mercedes.  I recently purchased a vehicle to pull a trailer, and as a result I no longer need this car. I was going to hang on to it for leisurely use, but honestly, I'd rather have the money.

This car gets great gas mileage.  I consistently get over 30 mpg on the highway.  These models of Mercedes are the ones that are known to be very durable, which is why they were used as taxis in Europe.  On top of that, this one has the Mercedes diesel engine, which will literally outlast the car.  I have seen these diesels for sale on ebay with almost 400,000 miles and they still run. The engine starts up easily and sounds good.  There are no check engine lights at all.  The transmission shifts smoothly and properly.  The tires are nearly brand new, and all four are matching Michelins.  I replaced the battery not too long ago.  I just had a service completed yesterday including a complete oil change.  Overall, this car runs and drives great.  It is unbelievably reliable.  It was well engineered and built from the beginning, and has been properly cared for and maintained since.  I'd rate the mechanics on this car a 10 out of 10.

The exterior is in great shape for a 1995.  The car has always been garaged or parked in covered parking.  The paint still shines and looks good.  There are a few door dings here and there, and there's a small ding on the rear under the trunk and a small ding on the hood (see pictures).  Also, some of the plastic on the driver's mirror has cracked.  The mirror assembly itself is still 100% solid, therefore I have never seen any reason to change it out.  Overall, I'd rate the exterior a 8.5 out of 10.

The interior is amazing for a 1995.  Never smoked in, no pets.  The leather is in amazing shape.  The carpet is amazing as well.  I have never seen a car of this age look this good.  All electronics work with the exception of the small LCD screen under the speedometer which would normally show the outside temperature.  Both power seats work properly.  The tape player works and the 6 disk changer works as well.  The automatic antenna works as well.  The AC and heater both work well.  I installed a Mercedes specific keyless entry system since that was not an option in 1995.  I paid $300 for the parts alone, and it took me 3 hours to install it.  It is very convenient though, and it came with the cool flip keys for the transmitter like the newer Mercedes have.  Everyone loves the car phone, which also works.  My nephews think this is the coolest car ever because of the car phone.  Obviously, car phones were slightly before their generation.  Overall, I'd rate the interior a solid 9.5 out of 10.

This car really is in amazing shape for a 1995 with 175,000 miles.  My wife's car is a 1999 Meredes E300 diesel.  I bought her that car after I bought this car because I loved my car so much.  These diesels are the way to go when you consider reliability and fuel economy.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.  I would be happy to pick you up at the airport in Las Vegas or I would be happy to cooperate with your shipper to get it shipped to you.  I am fully confident that this car can be driven across the country right now with no issues whatsoever.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class caught totally undisguised

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Based on the lightly camouflaged spy shots of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class we've seen lately, it hasn't taken a vivid imagination to picture what the next iteration of this big luxury sedan will look like. Even so, we now we have our first unobstructed views of the redesigned S-Class, codenamed W222, as it has just been caught out flaunting for some promo shots.
The first thing we notice about the new S-Class design is the disappearance of the last generation's flared wheel arches. Yet the new design adds even more character with bodyside creases similar to the CLS-Class and some elements reminiscent of 2007's F700 Concept, including the massive grille and vertical LED taillights. Other key details include a large panoramic roof and the narrow exhaust outlets, but the large LED-trimmed headlights and the aggressive front fascia are probably the biggest departure from the current design. With these spy shots, we also catch a blurry shot of the interior, but we've seen a practically uncovered look at the new S-Class' cabin back in January.
Overall, the next S-Class sports an expressive and premium new look, but as far as all-new designs go, it's quite conservative - a move no doubt fitting for these lean financial times.

Russia gives its Olympic medalists new Mercedes

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

Russian medalists at the recently concluded Sochi Winter Olympics are being rewarded quite handsomely for their service to the Motherland. In addition to the $120,000 being handed out for each gold medal, the $76,000 being awarded for slivers and $52,000 given to bronze winners, now word has come out that each of Russia's medalists will be gifted a new Mercedes-Benz.
As with the prize amounts, the type of Mercedes offered was based on what sort of medal was won. Gold medalists got a new GL-Class, silver medalists were given an ML and bronze medalists were treated to a GLK. As prices for Mercedes are higher in Russia, the cheapest model, the GLK, was the equivalent of $59,500, according to The Moscow Times. The cars were handed out by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, pictured above with figure skating medalist Julia Lipnitskaia.
"I was a bit shocked at the car I was given," Anton Shipulin, a member of the gold-medal biathlon relay team, told RIA-Novosti. "Of course I knew what kind of model it would be, but I didn't totally believe it." For athletes not old enough to drive, like 15-year-old Lipnitskaia, their Mercedes will come complete with a driver.

Carlsson SLK 340 Judd is winged up for hill climb glory

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

Carlsson has been expertly tuning Mercedes-Benz products for more than 20 years now, but we can't say as we remember the outfit turning out anything quite so racy as this SLK 340 Judd that it has brought along to the Geneva Motor Show this year.
This SLK is meant for competition, obviously, and Carlsson has already booked the car to race in several hill climb events in the E1 category. The purpose-built racer should have a fighting chance to do well in said races, with a shape vetted in wind tunnel testing for maximum downforce, the SLK uses a carbon-fiber bodyshell to help achieve a curb weight of just about 1,720 pounds.
The featherweight SLK's name comes from its 3.4-liter V8 engine, which churns out a wicked 610 horsepower to go with its 317 pound-feet of torque. A Hewland transmission with paddle shift operation manages all of the thrust.
