Next Mercedes E-Class to get quad-turbo inline-six, augmented reality

It's been 10 years since an inline six-cylinder engine sat up front in a Mercedes-Benz road car, but the straight-six shooter returns with the 2016 E-Class. According to a report in Car we'll see a modular family in gasoline and diesel versions, and Auto Evolution adds that the bore and stroke will be shared by both fuel types. Car says a 2.9-liter diesel variant arrives first in global markets, putting out 313 horsepower when twin-turbocharged and "over 400bhp" when fitted with two more battery-powered turbos. Auto Evolution's numbers match those and add torque figures, with 516 pound-feet for the former and 627 lb-ft for the latter - but it makes no mention of the two extra turbos. AE believes the gas versions will ring in at 367 hp and 479 lb-ft, and 435 hp and 553 lb-ft. Keep in mind that until we hear it from Stuttgart, this is all (exciting) speculation. Elsewhere in E-ville, more aluminum and that scalable MRA platform mean a weight loss of somewhere between 154 and 330 pounds compared to today's car. Seven bodystyles (including the CLS-Class) will continue to make up the range, with the coupe and convertible growing a bit to provide proper four-seater comfort. It will bear the new standard for Daimler technology, showcasing the next step in the company's Intelligent Drive with features like phone-controlled self-parking in confined spaces and augmented reality in the heads-up display. 2017 Infiniti QX30 price anounced ahead of September launch

The 2017 Infiniti QX30 will start at $30,945 for the base model and will max out at $39,495 for the Sport trim. The oversized hatchback will be available in six different trims: the QX30, QX30 Luxury, QX30 Premium, QX30 Sport, QX30 Luxury AWD, and QX30 Premium AWD. There will also be a 2017 QX30 Reservation Program for buyers interested in getting their hands on the car first. Buyers in the program will be able to choose from a selection of gifts to go along with their new QX30. The QX30 Luxury starts at $33,595, while its AWD variant is $1,800 more. The QX30 Sport, which is front-wheel drive only and is 0.6 inches lower than the rest of the lineup, is priced at $39,495. The QX30 Premium will start at $36,295 with the QX30 Premium AWD commanding an additional $2,400. All trims are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that puts out 208 hp and sends power to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. While the QX30 borrows a lot of components from the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, it's priced lower than its German counterpart. The Mercedes GLA250 starts at $33,775, while the GLA250 4Matic is priced at $34,775. The QX30 also comes in under the Acura RDX ($36,510), BMW X1 ($34,095), Audi Q3 ($34,625), and the larger Lexus NX 200t ($35,915). First official shot of Mercedes S-Class Coupe leaks out

With the official debut for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe expected tomorrow, it shouldn't be a surprise that some clicky fingers have already managed to uncover an official image of the car before the unveiling. Outside of this sole image, though, there's precious little detail on the new car.
First posted by Autofilou and then picked up by WorldCarFans, the production S-Class Coupe isn't far off from the concept car we saw a few months back in Frankfurt. Like the concept, the leggy production model appears related, albeit distantly, to the S-Class Sedan. The hood and front fascia are longer and lower, befitting of a two-door, while the character lines in the profile are more pronounced. Obviously, the beltline and slim, B-pillarless greenhouse are coupe-only items. We can't see any details on the back of the car, although it does appear that the long hood has a correspondingly short rear deck.
We'll have all the details on the official replacement for the CL-Class when it makes its full debut tomorrow. Until then, what do you think of this lone image?
