Up for sale is this super clean 2007 Mercedes-Benz C280 4Matic. This vehicle has only 40,000 miles and it looks and drives amazingly! Unfortunately, this vehicle was involved in fresh water and is being sold with a salvage title. We are not sure why this vehicle was branded a flood because we can see no sign of any water damage at all and the vehicle is in perfect running order with all the electronics working perfectly (see my video). Every switch and button in this car is working the way it should. There is absolutely no reason this vehicle should have been branded a salvage title.
This Benz is super clean and has a black onyx exterior with black leather interior accented by real wood trimming.  The leather seats are in like new condition and they are also heated and fully powered with memory functions.  This C280 just turned 40k miles (which is extremely low for this year) and it runs and drives fantastically. All these miles are out of state highway miles and it shows. The drive is so smooth, its like floating on a cloud. Every feature in the car is working the way it should including the A/C. The air conditioning in this car is ICE cold. This vehicle is ready for its new owner and needs nothing at all done to it. This is a nice example of an all original, low mileage, super clean Mercedes. And they are hard to find like this.
This C280 is loaded up with every possible option. It has full leather interior with heated seats, 4Matic All-wheel drive, power glass moonroof, CD changer in glove box, xenon headlights, fog lamps, power rear shade, steering wheel controls, on board computer, upgraded Harman Kardon sound system, remote keyless entry with alarm, power tilt steering wheel, and all the power features you could possibly think of.
This Benz comes with two original Mercedes key fobs. We also have the floor mats, first aid kit, and the unused spare tire and jack. The tool kit is pretty much complete as well. Its all there.
This vehicle was very well cared for and it shows. The maintenance all appears to be current and the vehicle is reliable and runs like a dream. The car has all matching Cooper tires all around. We have driven it 1000 miles and it seems to be running and driving 100%. You can literally jump in this vehicle and drive it 2,000 miles back home without any problems. We changed all the motor and transmission fluids and the vehicle has new brakes, new rotors, and new windshield wiper blades.
The exterior of the vehicle is clean. The paint is nice and glossy and all the body lines are perfect and straight. The body is in above average condition and there is no real blemishes to point out on this vehicle at all. The car shows extremely well, especially for its age. This car also seems to be all original with no paint or bodywork. The paint shines like glass. The carfax report shows no accident history.
The interior of the vehicle is also super clean. The seats have no cracks or rips and the leather is very firm and supple. The dash and door panels are also very nice and clean.  All the wood trimmings and other interior trims are in perfect condition. The interior is perfect condition in my opinion.
This car is being sold as-is, where-is, and there is no warranties expressed or implied. This vehicle is being sold with a salvage title. It is the buyers responsibility to know the laws and requirements for registering a salvage vehicle in their state. If you would like to see the car and test drive it, you are more than welcome to do so. Also, feel free to ask me about the buy-it-now price. If you buy the car and are located in my local area, I will deliver it to you FREE of charge. If you are located outside my local area, I will assist in any way possible in having the car shipped to you at your cost. A $500 non-refundable deposit must be made within 24 hours on the auctions end. The remaining balance must be paid in full by 3 days after the closing of the auction unless other arrangements are discussed with me in advance. With that being said, feel free to email, call, or text me at anytime if you have any questions or concerns. My name is Frank and my number is 347-961-1194. Thanks and good luck bidding

Aston wants to build DBX on its new platform, not Mercedes'

Mon, May 18 2015

Aston Martin is proceeding with plans to launch the DBX as its first production crossover. It just can't say at this point what it will be based on. Speaking with Automotive News Europe, Aston's new CEO Andy Palmer indicated that basing the DBX on a Mercedes SUV platform would not be its first choice because they "clearly sit in a very different space to the one we want to go" with the DBX. Instead, the company's first choice would be to build the crossover atop the new platform it's developing for its sports cars. "It just depends how high off the ground it could go," said Palmer. "I don't exclude the possibility of using some [Mercedes] parts, but I would say very much the primary route is our platform." The prospect of building an Aston SUV on Mercedes architecture – namely that of the GL-Class – has been on the table for some time now. The Lagonda SUV concept it showcased at the Geneva show in 2009 was based on the GL, and the two automakers have been forging a tightening alliance in the years since. The British automaker's next-generation engine is to be built by Mercedes-AMG, and it is expected to source other components from the German automaker as well. For its part, Mercedes has been taking a sportier approach with its latest crossovers, as demonstrated by the GLE Coupe that debuted before the more conventional version and the Concept GLC Coupe that previewed the GLK's replacement in Shanghai last month. Aston Martin, on the other hand, is building a new sports car platform that will underpin its next generation of luxury GTs, replacing the long-serving VH architecture that has served for decades as the basis for its entire model line. Perhaps the most surprising of ANE's report, though, is that Aston seems to be proceeding with plans to build the DBX apparently without even knowing what platform it will use.

Workers at Mississippi auto supplier protesting low wages

Tue, Feb 24 2015

Workers at an automotive seat factory in Mississippi are protesting what they say are low wages and poor working conditions as they attempt to unionize in what could become a new front for the United Auto Workers in the state. A group of workers and supporters at the Faurecia SA seating plant in Cleveland plans a Tuesday march. "We work an auto job and we're getting paid like Wal-Mart wages," said Jamarqus Reed, a 32-year-old Pace resident who has worked at the plant for almost 10 years. "We're trying to better ourselves." Nationally, the UAW has staked its future on unionizing Southern auto factories, with limited success so far. The union has been trying to organize Nissan Motor Co.'s Canton, MS, plant for years, and lost a 2008 worker vote at a Johnson Controls plant in nearby Madison that French-based Faurecia bought in 2011. The UAW narrowly lost a unionization vote at the Volkswagen AG plant in Chattanooga, TN, last year, but the union has since qualified for a new labor policy at the plant that grants access to meeting space and to regular discussions with management. The policy stops short of collective bargaining rights. The union is also trying to organize Nissan's assembly plant in Smyrna, TN, and Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, AL. Protesters say Faurecia employees make a top wage of $11.64 per hour, while contract workers make $7.73 an hour. Company spokesman Tony Sapienza said that with overtime, the typical Faurecia employee makes more than the $27,000 a year that is the median wage around Cleveland. Wages are often low in the heavily impoverished Delta. "We are very confident that we are offering a very competitive wage," Sapienza said. Organizers criticize use of lower-paid contract workers Shannon Greenidge, a 44-year-old Cleveland resident, said she worked for a labor agency for more than two years before being hired directly by Faurecia. Greenidge said she makes $9.29 an hour, and can't save for retirement or to send her 11-year-old daughter to college. "That's not going to help me down the line in life," she said. Union supporters say as many as half the workers at the plant work for a contract-labor agency. Sapienza said that while the number varies, the company expects 15 percent of its workforce will be temporary employees this year. The UAW has organized some Southern auto parts plants in recent years, including Faurecia plants in Cottondale, Alabama, in 2012 and Louisville, Kentucky in 2013.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton buys LaFerrari

Tue, Mar 24 2015

Lewis Hamilton has driven some of the fastest cars ever devised, like the McLaren MP4-23 with which he won the 2008 Formula One World Championship, the Mercedes W05 with which he won the title last year, and the new W06 he drove to the checkered flag in the season opener earlier this month. But what does he drive in his spare time? According to the latest reports quoting his boss Toto Wolff, the reigning champ celebrated his win at the Australian Grand Prix by ordering a new LaFerrari. The seven-figure, 950-horsepower hybrid hypercar may be made by a rival manufacturer to the team for which he drives, but then his employers at Mercedes don't (for the time being at least) build anything that competes in the segment – unlike his former employers at McLaren that offer the similarly potent P1. Something tells us he won't be invited to drive it at Fiorano, though - which is something his rivals Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel have all had the chance to do. Hamilton has a long-established penchant for driving twelve-cylinder exotic supercars in his spare time. At his previous place of work, he was promised an exceedingly rare McLaren F1 LM – valued at some $4 million – but only if he won three world titles for the Woking-based team. He also owns a Pagani Zonda that was made specifically for him with a 760-horsepower engine (supplied, naturally, by Mercedes) and a six-speed manual – complete with a clutch pedal, which (apart from starting off the line) is something he doesn't usually get to operate during working hours.
