1985 Mercedes Benz 500 Sel on 2040-cars
York, Pennsylvania, United States

I have for sale my prized possession, my 1985 MB 500 SEL. It has 171,000 miles and still runs strong. One benefit is that it uses regular fuel and not premium. They began requiring premium fuel in the late 80's. I still run one tank of premium a month.
Alabaster white paint with a hand pained factory red stripe over lush burgundy leather. I have two front Mercedes sheepskin covers in grey that I will include. Beautiful burl wood trim. No wear on the wood, wood console box or wood shifter at all. No wear on the seats and absolutely NO rips or tears. Complete with mint condition factory mats and newly added clear weather tech mats for the elements. I have a dash cover as well for it. I updated the radio to a Pioneer head unit, kept the original four speaker units and added a sub woofer in the trunk. I am an organist so I like a little rumble. The new head unit is equipped with AM/FM, CD, AUX and Bluetooth. I converted the factory ash tray into a phone charger that any USB phone charger can be hooked up to. 4 new Kuhmo all season tires, 4 new calipers, breaks and rotors all around, and new shocks and new tie rods were installed less than 3,000 miles ago in preparation for this sale. The exhaust has been replaced from the front to the muffler (maybe 5,000 miles ago). Heated power adjusting seats in the front AND rear. Climate control unit blows hot in the winter and cold in the summer. All other switches work well. Power windows and sunroof function properly. Just did an oil change, coolant flush and power steering fluid flush two weeks ago. PA inspected until November 2014. I installed power remote locks in the car as well. Comes with two keys and two fobs. It would be wise to have the injectors replaced to fix a sometimes rough idle. I already have the injectors ($350 value) and they will go with the car. The only other thing that I can see that does not work is the dash clock... This car has been babied since new. I believe I am the second or third owner. It is the recipient of the Mercedes High Mileage Award and has the paperwork and grille badge to go with it. You will receive that information as well as my silly "PANZER" euro plate. My list of positive attributes could go on and on. I am selling because I am 22 and need funds for college and seminary. I love this car but need to part with it for financial reasons. Please make an offer. You must see it to believe it! Call or text @ 717 eight 7 zero - four 5 zero 5. Blessings + |

These are the cars with the best and worst depreciation after 5 years
Thu, Nov 19 2020The average new vehicle sold in America loses nearly half of its initial value after five years of ownership. No surprise there; we all expect that shiny new car to start depreciating as soon as we drive it off the lot. But some vehicles lose value a lot faster than others. According to data provided by iSeeCars.com, trucks and truck-based sport utility vehicles generally hold their value better than other vehicle types, with the Jeep Wrangler — in both four-door Unlimited and standard two-door styles — and Toyota Tacoma sitting at the head of the pack. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's average five-year depreciation of 30.9% equals a loss in value of $12,168. That makes Jeep's four-door off-roader the best overall pick for buyers looking to minimize depreciation. The Toyota Tacoma's 32.4% loss in initial value means it loses just $10,496. The smaller dollar amount — the least amount of money lost after five years — indicates that Tacoma buyers pay less than Wrangler Unlimited buyers, on average, when they initially buy the vehicle. The standard two-door Jeep Wrangler is third on the list, depreciating 32.8% after five years and losing $10,824. On the other side of the depreciation coin, luxury sedans tend to plummet in value at a much faster rate than other vehicle types. The BMW 7 Series leads the losers with a 72.6% drop in value after five years, which equals an alarming $73,686. BMW's slightly smaller 5 Series is next, depreciating 70.1%, or $47,038, over the same period. Number three on the biggest losers list is the Nissan Leaf, the only electric vehicle to appear in the bottom 10. The electric hatchback matches the 5 Series with a 70.1% drop in value, but since it's a much cheaper vehicle, that percentage equals a much smaller $23,470 loss. Hollywood stars drink hydrogen B-Class F-Cell emission water in Death Valley [UPDATE]
Tue, Feb 4 2014A plug-in electric vehicle can be used to power a house during a winter storm, but if you're more worried about the heat of, say, Death Valley, then maybe you'll want a Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-Cell along. That's the message of a new video from Daimler and starring Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) and Joshua Jackson (Fringe) that promotes the company's hydrogen-powered car. The gist? You can drink the tailpipe emissions. The two Hollywood stars drove in Death Vally without any water in their F-Cell but had a special tank hooked up to the tailpipe to collect the H2O drips as they drove in 100+ degree temperatures. There's a reason these two actors were chosen, since they've been driving an F-Cell in their daily lives for two years, according to the Diamler press release. The text is, shall we say, a bit hyperbolic - "Their lives rely on the emissions of the B-Class F-CELL" it says, totally ignoring the film crew that is obviously along for the ride and more than likely had a few bottles with them. Also, when the California Fuel Cell Partnership promoted the same idea a few years ago, it clarified that, "A fuel cell doesn't produce enough water to fill your glass. ... If fact, fuel cells produce about the same amount of water as gasoline vehicle – about 1/3 cup for a full day of driving." Thus, this whole thing is a Hollywood stunt, but it's a visually effective one. See for yourself in the mini-movie below. UPDATE: Daimler has told AutoblogGreen that there was no "extra Hollywood magic" needed for the water collected in the video. Instead, Madeleine Herdlitschka, who works at global communications for Mercedes-Benz Cars, said, "Considering the technical characteristics, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-CELL emits about 9 kg of water vapor per kg of hydrogen while driving. The vehicle has a hydrogen capacity of about 3.7 kg, what is sufficient for a max. of about 400 km of range. A tailor-made construction, designed by the production company Markenfilm Crossing in cooperation with our fuel cell experts, made it possible to collect the water in a tank - previously cooling the vapor with a specially designed pipe system." New Mercedes Unimog debuts to the cheers of little boys everywhere [w/video]
Sat, 27 Apr 2013The Mercedes Unimog, the superhero villain of the off-road world that's just waiting to make the jump to Transformer, has been completely upgraded for its new generation. There are ten models, expanding the range and getting new designations across the traditional all-terrain series and the implement-carrier series. Panoramic cabins get more visibility, multifunction steering wheels and better dash clusters, improved HVAC and a three-mode central tire inflation system. Outside, there are new items like LED headlights and daytime running lamps in the bumper, roof-mounted windshield wipers and a front-camera monitor for the implement carrier.
The new engine lineup is compliant with Euro VI, featuring four- and six-cylinder BlueEfficiency engines putting out anywhere from 156 horsepower to 354 hp. Powerplant placement has also been tweaked, the chassis members getting a revised curve to place the engine a bit further back and lower, maintaining off-road clearance and lowering the Unimog's center of gravity. The new location of the engine means the cabin has more room, and the wheelbase is shorter. Combined with a higher turning angle, the Unimog has a smaller turning radius than before.
The implement carrier gets what's called a "synergistic traveling drive," the bonus being that drivers don't need to stop in order to use an attachment - a hydrostatic transmission works with the regular manual transmission at up to 31 kilometers per hour for seamless switching.
