1985 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL Within the last four years this car has been almost completely refurbished, it was repainted original color (glasso paint on rust free body). The interior is in great condition with new dash cap. The very nice leather seats are crack free and in beautiful condition which include new front leather bottom seat covers. The carpet is also in great condition, no wear spots. The radio was recently serviced by the guys from Becker in New Jersey. The only problem I see with the car is that the ABS light is currently on. I am listing this for a elderly friend who's wife recently passed away. The following components have been replaced: - Remanufactured fuel distributor - New injectors, - New plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. - Water pump and thermostat - Idle control valve - Fuel pump - Timing chain, tensioner and guides - New rotors, calipers and brake pads - New flex brake hoses - The transmission fluid and power steering fluid have been changed with new filters - New ball joints, including tie rods and ends Please contact the owner directly. Mercedes widens luxury sales gap on strong early CLA demand
Wed, 02 Oct 2013Mercedes-Benz CLA sales have been booming, with the Stuttgart-based manufacturer moving 2,300 of the sleek four-doors in its first week on sale. That is astonishing. Mercedes moved nearly twice as many CLAs (which start at $29,900) in one week than Jaguar, a brand that is on a very solid roll, sold in all of September. Ignoring the price differences between the Jag line and the CLA, that is still wildly impressive.
Mercedes has been pushing the CLA in television ads, using a shortened version of its Super Bowl spot, which starred William Dafoe, Usher and Kate Upton. "As the bargain entrance into the Mercedes portfolio, we weren't sure how luxury buyers would react," Kelly Blue Book auto analyst Alec Gutierrez told Bloomberg.
The CLA push was just part of MB's 6.7-percent increase in September sales, which were also helped along by a 17-percent jump in E-Class sales. That surge has allowed Mercedes to widen its 2013 sales lead over its rival, BMW, to 2,491 cars, according to Bloomberg. If CLA sales continue at this rate, we can only expect that margin to grow.
Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG coming to the New York Auto Show
Tue, 05 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz showed off the CLA45 AMG at a private event on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, but was determined not to let it be photographed. We can talk about it, though - after all, a teaser image was released to promote the new Sony game Drive Club. The CLA45 AMG will use the same powertrain as the A45 AMG, which means a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. And that means a small four-door coupe sedan with the highest horsepower-per-liter in the segment. It will shift through the same seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, should also run out of speed at 155 miles per hour and have that three-stage stability control system.
As with its hatch sibling, the CLA is already so aggressive on the outside - and the parent company so anxious not to demolish the sedan's 0.22 coefficient of drag - that not much has been done to the cranked-up CLA. Even the rather thin tires on the standard only get a little less thin on the hotter variant. Inside will be the telltale AMG signs, with lots of red detailing and that flat-bottomed wheel among the giveaways. We'll know more later this month when the wraps come off at the New York International Auto Show.
