I am selling my Well Loved '79 USA Mercedes Benz 6.9. She is in very good condition for her age. And she has only 79,000 original, one owner miles! Clean interior and near perfect dash and rear package tray. Original 6.9 books. A/C blows ICE COLD! She has 5 new OEM Hydrosphere Suspension 'balls', That was an expensive $3,000+ job... She rides and drives like new when she first left the showroom.... The MSRP was somewhere around $70K + US in 1979 Dollars when new. These special 6.9's where all manufactured on their own exclusive assembly line as opposed to the standard 450SEL's. Suspension raises and lowers just as it should. She has a brand NEW (not re-done) OEM Radiator for $2,100, All New Belts, Brakes, Hoses and Vacuum lines and a complete service and inspection from the best MBZ 6.9 mechanic in L.A. He states that it is one of the best maintained and driving 6.9's he's seen. These cars are very expensive to properly maintain and most were not as their values fell. This car is 100% properly sorted and serviced... I would have no problem driving this car to New York and back L.A. and neither would you...I will be listing on eBay Friday

It still has the original Becker AM/FM cassett radio that works great and playes my old cassetts. Brand New Tires... A very fresh 12 quart oil {remember 6.9 are all DRY SUMP cars and take that much oil when done correctly) along with a fresh 12 quart w/filter tray service (You use 12 [again] when you do it properly and drain the torque-converter ) All power windows work great along with the sun-roof .... None of the typical 'driveshaft', or trany issues what so ever.... Very fast, powerful 150 MPH 'Sleeper' of a collectible automobile!!!! It will always be one of the Worlds' Fastest Production Sedans ever produced... She does have a a few small paint imperfections you can barely see in the photos. Interested parties may call or email me. My mechanic, George of Prestige German Auto in Thousand Oaks, is available to speak with as well...

The exterior color is Silver w/Black leather inside. She is a ONE OWNER rust free 6.9L BIG BLOCK factory HOT ROD. 6.9 equals a little over 417 cubic inches of hand built Mercedes Benz / AMG perfection...

I am a privet Car Nut/Collector and buy and/or sell one or two a year. Over the last 5 years on eBay I have sold two of my V-12 Ferrari's, a 65 Mustang GT Convertible to Australia, A 70 Lotus Europa to Holland, my beloved '88 Porsche Turbo Cab to Belgaum {Ben, I want that car BACK!!!}, and my '68 Camaro RS/SS Convertible to a great guy here in the USA...All with 100% Positive Feedback on eBay...

Please note that in the interest of saftey and large number of calls I've been receiving from Europe about this 6.9, I just installed a set of 4 brand new Yokohama Avid Touring Tires in the correct original, factory specified size of 205/70/14. These have a higher speed rating than what I had on the car... And are 9 years newer!

Why all of this year's F1 noses are so ugly [w/video]

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

If you're a serious fan of Formula One, you already know all about The Great Nosecone Conundrum of 2014. Those given to parsing each year's F1 regulations predicted the strong possibility of the so-called "anteater" noses as far back as early December 2013. Highly suggestive visual evidence first came after Caterham's crash test in early January, with further proof coming as soon as Williams showed a rendering of the FW36 challenger for this year's championship. That car earned a name that wasn't nearly so kind as "anteater."
Casual followers of the sport - or anyone who gets the feed from this site - probably don't know what's happening, except to wonder why the current year's F1 cars are led by appendages that would make Cyrano de Bergerac feel a whole lot better about himself.
The short answer to the question of ugsome F1 noses is "FIA regulations and safety." The reason there are various kinds of ugsome noses is simpler: engineers. The same boffins who have given us advances including carbon fiber monocoques, six-wheeled cars, double diffusers and Drag Reduction Systems are bred to do everything in their power to exploit every possible freedom in the regulations to make the cars they're building go faster - the caveat being that those advances have to work within the overall philosophy of the whole car.

Mercedes-AMG could use electric turbos

Fri, Jun 12 2015

Mercedes-Benz is joining Audi in analyzing electric turbochargers for its production cars. But while Ingolstadt will roll out its first e-turbo in its A8 luxury sedan, Stuttgart is studying the technology for use in small performance cars, like the A45, CLA45, and GLA45 AMG models. Auto Express spoke to Mercedes-AMG compact car boss Steffen Jastrow about the cutting-edge tech, which reduces turbo lag, improves fuel economy, and occupies less space under the hood than a standard turbo. "Of course we need more power for the next-generation of cars, but electrification does not mean we have to use an electric drivetrain." Jastrow said. "They have to be faster and e-turbos are an option. We use them in motorsport, but the technology has to be payable for the customer." As AE tells it, bringing the price of e-turbos down from the A8's luxury car level to the relatively affordable sums demanded by compact AMG models will still take some time. So don't count on seeing a Mercedes with an electric turbocharger until the new A-Class arrives in 2017, at the earliest. Related Video:

2015 Spanish F1 Grand Prix makes its Deutsche mark

Mon, May 11 2015

The first race of the European Formula One season inaugurates the second phase of the Championship. Teams overhaul their cars with the big updates they've been working on since Australia, and at the end of The Battle of Spain we find out how the positions on the field have changed. Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver Nico Rosberg brought a big update to his psychology, straight-up beating teammate Lewis Hamilton to take his first pole position of the season. Mercedes owns the front row and Ferrari maintains its status as primary challenger, Sebastian Vettel lining up in third. Williams proved it's been hitting the books to do better in class, though, Valtteri Bottas slotting into fourth. And Toro Rosso's visit to a track that rewards strong aero rewarded them with the best team grid position since the Italian Grand Prix in 2008: Carlos Sainz secured fifth, ahead of Max Verstappen in sixth. Kimi Raikkonen's bout of Saturday woes – it seems the Finn is always handicapped by lots of tiny issues – continued in Barcelona with one of his sets of prime tires getting cooked by malfunctioning tire warmers. He recovered well enough to take seventh on the grid, but he's got some strong competition ahead of him. He led three other drivers in the Continuous Issues department, Daniil Kvyat unable to wrestle his Infiniti Red Bull Racing higher than eighth, Williams driver Felipe Massa getting it wrong in Turn 3 to fall five places behind his teammate Bottas, and Daniel Ricciardo in the second Red Bull enduring another engine change and sloppy car behavior to get tenth. And while it turned out to be a steady race a little rough around the edges, the positions on the battlefield just might have changed. A little. Of the 66 laps in the race we might have seen Rosberg for three of them – maybe. The German got a smashing start, had a clear lead into Turn 1, and after that we checked in occasionally during his two pit stops and again at the checkered flag. He owned the entire weekend the way we're used to seeing his teammate do, and the cameras left him alone to run his race. No one got within seven seconds of him during the first third, and as the pit stop strategies played out that cushion grew. He finished seventeen seconds ahead of Hamilton, and 45 seconds ahead of third-placed Vettel. Hamilton, on the back foot all three days, stumbled out of the gate.
