1985 Mercedes Benz 300TD. Turbo Diesel
Cold A/C-----Auto Transmission-----CD Player-----Power Windows/Locks/Antenna-----Working Sunroof-----167k miles-----Working Clock-----Cruise Control
LAST YEAR OF W123 Body= makes this the most desired year.
Low Miles These vehicles are seen with 1/2 a million miles or more. This is just broke in at 167,000.
Mechanically This has been gone through and is in EXCELLENT working order. I have driven this on road trips without any worries and would have no fear taking this across country. I change the oil every 3 months or 3k miles and although I check the oil regularly I never have to add between changes.
Mechanical Items Addressed
Numerous gaskets replaced (valve cover, transmission pan, oil pan, turbo oil lines, and more I don't remember), valves adjusted, as well as the A/C system serviced, brake job (raybestos pads and rotors turned less than 100 miles ago), radiator serviced with a cleaning and new antifreeze, new power antenna (goes up and down with original button on dash), sunroof gear replaced and system lubricated, all filters (oil, fuel, air) vacuum system serviced (fixed all leaks to ensure the power locks go up and down long after the car has been shut off), CD player/Radio, alternator rebuilt, and much more that I have forgotten. Whatever it needed I always had an open checkbook and took care of it every checkup (I had the mechanic go though it every 3 months).
Body and Interior-are in EXCELLENT Condition. The exterior has two rock chips, and the paint is new high quality dupont polyurethane (same stuff they use in the Kenworth Factory). Paint Job cost alone is practically what I am asking for the vehicle. The glass is in great condition, the windshield has a very small rock chip that is hardly seen and if repaired couldn't be seen. Interior Leather/Vinyl appears to be original and in good condition. The drivers seat has 2 small areas where the leather Split (each one is approx 2" they actually aren't very visable). The power windows all go up and down quickly. The Windows in the back make a clicking sound when they reach the top and the bottom but open and close as they should. The speedometer and odometer funcion properly and although the trip odometer works it doesn't reset to zero (I haven't checked if something is loose?). The tachometer works about 50% of the time (mechanic suggested that a connecter may need to be soldered).  Below the rear window there is NO rust (a common problem for these, this may be due to being in california).  The A/C works great and comes out of the vents on the far ends of the dash and out of the defrost vents (for some reason it doesn't come out the center vents-could be a fuse but cools the car well), fan blows well.
Fuel Economy for me has been between 26 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, with the turbo this the diesel has excellent power.  I have a w210 mercedes diesel that is about 10 years newer and drives much better.
I love this car and would love to keep it forever but due to a future move I will no longer have garage space for her and she needs to find a good home.  I have many more pictures and if you have any particular areas you would like pictures of let me know.

2016 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix recap: another wild show on and off track
Mon, Apr 18 2016Normally we use this space to provide a lengthy recap of the weekend's Formula 1 race, but we're going to try something different since most folks reading this know what happened at the Shanghai International Circuit on Sunday. Instead, we'll alight on what we saw as the big issues in and around the race. Let us know what you think in Comments. Proper qualifying is back. Thank goodness. It only took a month of embarrassment to fix it. And so is passing! For the third race in a row, big performance improvements at the ten teams behind Mercedes-AMG Petronas and a wider tire selection at this race graced us with opening stints filled with dicing cars. Seeing the McLarens on screen doesn't make us cringe. Manor doesn't only make the global feed when it's being lapped. We've been complaining about parade races for so long that we forgot excitement was possible without rain or wholesale regulation changes. Yes, Mercedes is still the king of the jungle, but there are some other proper midfield beasts on the hunt, too. Malfunctions up and down the grid did help the show in Shanghai, like Lewis Hamilton suffering perpetual troubles, Nico Hulkenberg's runaway front wheel which red-flagged Q2, and Sebastian Vettel's and Kimi Raikkonen's flubbed hot laps in Q3 that let Daniel Ricciardo slip by into second on the grid. Come race day things went all Grand Theft Auto at Turn 1 on the opening lap, sending some of the best cars to the pits. Then came Ricciardo's puncture while leading, then came the Safety Car – all by Lap 5. Nico Rosberg got 38 seconds of airtime on the way to victory – at the start and the finish, and that happened to be his margin of victory, too – otherwise he was a ghost. Everyone else was struggling and juggling. Rosberg's win at the Bahrain Grand Prix put the German at five consecutive victories going back to last year's Mexican Grand Prix. The history books show that any driver who's won five straight contests has gone on to win the championship. With his triumph in China, the German has won the season's first three races, the history books again show that the other nine drivers who've pulled that off have gone on to win the championship. Rosberg, 36 points ahead of his teammate in the standings, is having none of it. He said of the other victors, "But they didn't have Lewis Hamilton as their team-mate." Perhaps Mercedes was right not to make an engine deal with Red Bull last season.
The first trailer for Top Gear's 24th season shows a hands-free drag race
Tue, Dec 27 2016In the excitement over Amazon's new motoring show, it's important to remember that there's a certain series from the BBC that's attempting to get its mojo back for a 24th season. Yes, we're talking about Top Gear. Since Chris Evans' departure earlier this year, Top Gear news has been relatively sparse, particularly as The Grand Tour and its hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond seized headlines. But on Christmas, watchers of the series' YouTube channel caught a glimpse of the first scene from the next season. Featuring hosts Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, and Rory Reid in what looks like a trio of old, dilapidated cars. We're thinking TG is running a taxi comparison. There's a London black cab and a Mercedes-Benz W210 – a favorite of European cabbies – but we aren't sure where Harris' boxy wagon fits in. Did the Volvo 850 Estate ever serve as a livery vehicle? But it's the basis for this comparison that's weird, because the hosts appear to be having a no-hands drag race. The cars veer off in different directions, traveling across what looks like a snow-covered dirt lot. We're assuming hilarity ensues. And while we don't quite know what they're hoping to accomplish, we are looking forward to watching it go down. Top Gear's 24th season doesn't have an official air date, and the video ends only with a cryptic "Coming Soon." Expect to hear more in the next few months.
Drive visits a Mercedes Pagoda collector in Bangkok
Tue, Aug 4 2015The term "icon" gets thrown around a lot, but if there was ever an automobile that deserved the honorific, certainly the Mercedes SL is one of them. Now in its sixth generation, the SL has been the prototypical German roadster since the 1950s. A sports car with that long a history will inevitably attract a great many collectors, but with values of first-generation 300 SLs and 190 SLs skyrocketing, those enthusiasts without bottomless pockets are turning in growing numbers to the second generation. Known as the Pagoda due to the design of its removable hardtop, the W113-generation SL arrived in 1963 and stayed in production until 1971. By that point Mercedes had built nearly 50,000 of them, selling over 19,000 of those in the United States alone. Through three engine variants – dubbed 230, 250 and 250 SL – and numerous body-styles, all featured an inline-six, transmitting to the road through manual or automatic transmissions with four or five gears. More of a cruiser, then, that an outright sports car, but one that warrants its place in the history of the automobile. In this latest episode, Drive travels to Bangkok to profile a local enthusiast and collector. That's a rather difficult undertaking in Thailand, where it's illegal to import old cars, but Sittisan Quan Sundaravej rises to the challenge, locating classics together with like-minded local enthusiasts. The heart of his collection, though, isn't one he acquired, but rather inherited from his late father. That's the kind of provenance you can't buy.
