1970 Mercedes Benz 300SEL 3.5 This 3.5 is a great survivor car that has not been restored but rather has been lovingly maintained and serviced over the years. It was originally sold, on June 15, 1970, in Salem, Oregon to LM Hill, Inc. I purchased the 3.5 last year from a gentlemen in Oregon who regularly drove the car and performed extensive service on the car, see pics of invoices. The most important aspect of any w109 Mercedes is the air suspension. This 3.5 has sat for over a month without any leak down of the suspension. This is virtually unheard of; I have no concerns about the air suspension. The 3.5 engine starts right up and runs well. It has been extensively serviced, see pics of invoices. Transmission Shifts Smoothly. The 3.5 Brakes Properly and Straight. The Rare and Desirable Sunroof works great, See Video! The A/C has been converted to R134, see invoice, and blows cold! The Original Becker Radio works! Original Books and Warranty Plate! Excellent 3 Point Retractable Seat Belts Up Front and Kangols in the Rear! New Alternator and Battery! All lights, interior and exterior, work properly. Heater levers were replaced and work properly. Windows go up and down and vacuum door lock system works. Glass is all in great condition and the chrome and stainless trim present well! Original, Solid and Dry Undercarriage and Jack Points! Lovely 2 Tone Color Code 717G Papyrus White Body and 124G Arabian Grey Roof over Red Interior. Obviously, the car has the occasional nick or scratch on what appears to be the first respray. It is not a restored 3.5, but a nice well-maintained turn key 3.5. There is very little work-wise I suggest if one only wants a driver. However, I would suggest budgeting for certain repairs that you may deem necessary, for example replacement of the steering coupling (~$200) and any other items that are not necessary to drive the car as-is but would increase your enjoyment of this lovely 3.5. WE HAVE OTHER CLASSIC MERCEDES AVAILABLE! I can assist with shipping worldwide (major European Ports $1,250-$1,500) . I will deliver to Jacksonville, FL Port for $200 or Miami Port for $325. Will AMG influence MV Agusta's three new 1,000cc bikes?
Mon, Jul 20 2015Freshly injected with capital from Daimler, Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta is reportedly on the verge of launching a whole array of four-cylinder, one-liter bikes in the near future. We're looking forward to checking them out when they arrive, but we can't help but wonder what influence we might see from the company's new tie-up with AMG. Though MV Agusta's new three-cylinder models have been garnering the lion's share of attention lately, a new range of four-cylinder models has reportedly been confirmed. There's a new F4 superbike on its way, a new Brutale naked street-fighter tipped to follow, and an additional sport-touring variant anticipated to join the lineup as well. A few months ago, MV Agusta released a customer version of its new World Superbike Championship machine, boasting over 200 horsepower in a 386-pound machine. Those specs made us sit up and take notice, especially with AMG logos plastered all over it to mimic the competition version's livery. And that only piqued our interest as to possible future collaborations between the two Daimler properties that could potentially extend far beyond livery. Though AMG has typically dealt with large-displacement engines with eight or twelve cylinders, it has been honing its skills on the smaller four-pot that powers the A45, CLA45 and GLA45 models. And as rival Volkswagen (having scooped up Ducati out from under Benz's nose) has shown with the XL Sport concept, the prospect of slotting the resulting motorcycle engine back into a four-wheeled automobile could prove quite compelling indeed. Mercedes AMG GT3 racecar due in 2016
Sun, Nov 23 2014Our life with the Mercedes-AMG GT has only just begun, and a full life it looks like it will be. The latest in preposterous two-doors from AMG is launching in GT and GT S flavors, but a few more branches of the family tree are already planned: a racing entry for the FIA GT3 championship is scheduled to appear in 2016, giving the current SLS AMG GT3 another year to gobble up victories before it takes a drive across the Styx. More exciting for those who only suit up on Sunday for church, whispers are that a we'll also get a streetable version of the race car - not called "GT3" because that alphanumeric is owned by Porsche, but definitely aimed at its Stuttgart rival. AMG boss Tobias Moers told Autocar the objective for that car is "more power, less weight, better aerodynamics and different suspension but the targets should be the power to weight ratio, drivability, lap time and tremendous feel." Those targets will be aided by a carbon fiber weight-loss regime of up to 220 pounds and more power - perhaps 550 horsepower - from the currently "very understressed" engine. Supposing that still isn't enough for you, then the Black Series version should curl your toes, if you can wait until 2018 for it.
Mercedes-AMG GT S pit against Porsche 911 Turbo in Evo Deadly Rivals test
Fri, May 1 2015When Mercedes-Benz announced that its all-new AMG GT would start at $129,900 deeply undercutting the $200,000-plus of its predecessor, the SLS AMG, immediate questions focused on how it'd stack up against the latest crop of high performers that occupy the mid-$100,000 range. Evo, over in the UK, didn't have to wait all that long. The latest installment in the outlet's "Deadly Rivals" series compares the AMG GT with the latest Porsche 911 Turbo. On paper, the test is sure to be interesting. The Mercedes uses a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 with 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, while a seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch shuffles power to the back axle. The 911 Turbo's formula is more of a known quantity – 520 hp from a twin-turbo, 3.8-liter flat six with the company's own PDK working in unison with all-wheel drive, torque vectoring and rear-axle steering. Of course, we're not going to spoil the results for you. Take a look at the video up top, and let us know what you think of Evo's latest track battle.
