Up for sale is my 1978 MB 300CD. This is truly a beautiful and remarkable car especially for being 36 years old. It currently has 191k on it and this will increase slightly as it is currently being driven a few times a week around town (Diesels need lovin', not neglecting'). This is the first year that MB introduced the OM 617 engine with the W123 Chassis which has since proved to be a historic and bomb-proof combination known for their longevity and durability....so at 191k it's only barely getting broken in.
Car is in excellent shape and gets compliments from every where I go including the Mercedes mechanics, and I've yet to see one that isn't fully restored even close to as nice as this. It has been babied, garaged, and finely tuned for many many years now. All the power windows work as well as the heat and AC (practically unheard of for these older models). AC has also already been converted to R-134 from the old R-12 ($$$) and the compressor is really strong for the hot days or defrosting in the cold mornings. All basic maintenance is up to date, fresh oil change, fresh fuel filters (all three!), glow plugs, breaks, tires and also just had a new shifter installed (bushings and pin had worn down on the old one). Transmission is extremely smooth.
Mechanically I'd give this car a 10/10...

Interior is also in excellent shape and has been well maintained and partially restored. I'd give it a 8.5/10. As you can see in the pictures, there is a little gash next to where the key ignition is and also the plastic panel on the driver side has started to separate some and It could probably use some new weather stripping around the doors to help reduce some wind noise. These are very minor and would be easy to fix. Factory radio has been removed but is still in tact and will come with with the purchase of the car if desired.

Exterior as you can see is near perfect shape and I'd give a 9.5/10.

There is a stack of service records as well to go with it. Overall this car is in remarkable condition for being 36 years old and it has many many years of good driving left on it. Opinions or ratings on car are subjective so I would rather sell locally so that it can be appreciated in person before purchase however I'd be more than happy to assist with airport pick up or delivery of the vehicle which must be paid by the buyer. It is being sold as is.

Please feel free to ask any questions...I work in a hospital and will do my best to answer promptly.

Mercedes dropping Shooting Brake from next CLS-Class

Tue, Jul 14 2015

If you've been admiring the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake from afar and held out hope that the next version might make it to over to our side of the pond, we've got bad news for you. Not only will the next rendition of Benz's sleek wagon not make it to North American showrooms, it won't be offered anywhere. According to Car, the German automaker has pulled the plug on the next CLS Shooting Brake. The five-door bodystyle was slated to form part of the third-generation CLS-Class lineup, whose design has already been finalized. But though there was reportedly great enthusiasm for the shooting brake within the company, lukewarm response from the vital North American and Chinese markets meant that plans for another wagon variant were scrapped altogether. Mercedes first rolled out the CLS four-door coupe in 2004, pioneering the popular new segment before BMW followed with its Gran Coupe models and Audi its Sportbacks. The second-generation model arrived in 2010, with a Shooting Brake following in 2012. Stuttgart even followed up with a smaller CLA Shooting Brake as well. With the third-generation model now on its way, however, the CLS is going back exclusively to four doors and a trunk. Of course that doesn't mean Mercedes won't be offering any oddball long-roofed models. It simply appears to be filling those niches with slant-backed versions of crossovers like the new GLC and GLE instead. So if you're looking for a vehicle with a Silver Star on the nose and an unconventional roofline at the back, you're going to have to settle on riding higher. Related Video:

2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG rumbles on stage 4Matic style

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Bruce Hornsby and his soothing piano skills helped introduce us to the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but the monstrous E63 AMG sedan needed no entrance music as it rumbled on stage. The 550-horsepower (and up) sedan sat proudly alongside the rest of the redesigned E-Class on stage at the Detroit Auto Show, but stood miles apart in intention and execution.
In addition to a choice of sedan and wagon body styles, the E63 AMG will also offer buyers the choice of the standard 550 hp or an upgraded 577-hp S-Model; regardless of output, all 2014 E63 AMG models will come standard with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
We already saw the E63 AMG's aggressive styling last week, but now we have a full assortment of live images for you to enjoy as well as the Mercedes-Benz press release, which is also posted below.

Mercedes completes production of G63 AMG 6x6

Mon, Apr 6 2015

Considering its 19-foot length, it sure was short-lived. A flash in the pan, really, in so far as a 4-ton beast could possibly be. But the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 is reportedly wrapping up its short production run this month. Based on a military variant of the legendary Gelandewagen but built for civilian consumption, the G63 AMG was – and will likely forever remain – the ultimate version of Benz's ultimate off-roader. It features six driven wheels on three axles with five differentials, all powered by AMG's stalwart 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8. Mercedes rolled out the 6x6 on all its half-dozen driven wheels barely over a year ago, and despite its half-million-dollar sticker price, demand soared. But after selling about 100 of them, the German automaker is putting it to pasture, ensuring its rarity in the annals of off-roader history. In its place, Benz will now begin production of the (relatively and slightly) less bonkers G500 4x42, which employs a tamer 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 driving a more conventional four wheels, and ditches the pickup short-bed for an enclosed wagon body-style, but keeps its eccentric big brother's jacked-up ride height. Those looking for the last word in power, though, will be more interested in the twelve-cylinder G65 that will now be coming to US dealers with a $200k+ sticker price. Related Video:
