1966 Mercedes 230s Fintail Sedan on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:80000 Color: is very presentable
Location:

Portland, Oregon, United States

Portland, Oregon, United States

This classic fintail car runs and drives well, however the front carburetor seems to have a vacuum leak, thus won't sync up, so it idles a little rough. The car is equipped with power front disc brakes that were checked out in the shop and work great. The head liner is in good shape as are the seats with the exception of some sun baking on the top of the rear seat resulting in two evenly spaced splits on each side of the top of the rear seat . They are spaced uniformly and look very repairable. The removable carpet on the front passenger side is in poor condition due to fabric break down, the rest of the floor of the car is in respectable condition. The exterior is very presentable, however there is some minor surface cracks in the paint on the left rear quarter panel that you need to look hard for. all of the lights and signals work (no electrical gremlins) with two speed wipers and two speed heater fan. The original and rare blpunkt AM radio works great and has a good factory speaker. There is one heat crack on the dash pad near the radio speaker. The windshield has a bebe chip at the very top of the glass above the steering wheel and it has wiper rash. The tires have good tread but should be replaced simply due to their age. The car has no rust in the front cross member, rocker panels, wheel wells, floors or trunk area other than acceptable minor surface rust here and there, rare for this body series. The trunk mat is in intact good condition. The power steering seems to work better when turning the steering wheel to the right than it does turning the wheel to the left when the car is stopped. It's not noticeable when driving. The odometer states 80K miles, however it's not working, the speedometer does work. I'm inclined to believe the odometer is close to correct as there is no wear on the driver's side floor covering or the gas and brake pedal. From what we know of the cars history the mileage makes sense. All the exterior chrome is present as delivered new forty seven years ago. We did not receive the key for all but the ignition key. A key will need to be made the doors, trunk, and glove box, These all use the same key. In the process of getting the car road worthy we replaced the radiator, battery, driveshaft center carrier bearing and the front anti-vibration coupler. The gas tank was removed and internally coated to seal and protect it. Of course there are 50 other little things that have been done to it to help make it right and into a dependable driver. This car can only go up in value from here as the rare classic it is. The car comes with a spare tire, jack, a spare brake rotor and a hub cap, a power steering rebuild kit as well as the factory owners packet including warranty manual owners manual radio manual and the original BUILD CARDS and other data. We located hard to find new wiper blades and installed them. We will include receipts that reflect some of our investment in saving this car. The car has fresh Oregon tags, good through November 2015. A new Oregon clear title(the car had Utah plates which expired in 2006)is currently being processed and will arrive shortly. This "Fintail" is a good car to finish reconditioning and use it as a daily driver, or to do a "full on" restoration with, for show. This car is getting hard to find as the 111 (230S)was made only from 1961 to 1967. This was the second to last year for tailfins and the last year with chrome trim on them. It is also the first car ever with crumple zones to protect interior structure. The car is presented with a generous reserve. We require a $500.00 dollar deposit through PayPal and full payment in five business days should the reserve be met. All aspects of shipping are solely the responsibility of the winning buyer. We have the right to stop the auction at any time as the car is also advertised locally.

First official shot of Mercedes S-Class Coupe leaks out

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

With the official debut for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe expected tomorrow, it shouldn't be a surprise that some clicky fingers have already managed to uncover an official image of the car before the unveiling. Outside of this sole image, though, there's precious little detail on the new car.
First posted by Autofilou and then picked up by WorldCarFans, the production S-Class Coupe isn't far off from the concept car we saw a few months back in Frankfurt. Like the concept, the leggy production model appears related, albeit distantly, to the S-Class Sedan. The hood and front fascia are longer and lower, befitting of a two-door, while the character lines in the profile are more pronounced. Obviously, the beltline and slim, B-pillarless greenhouse are coupe-only items. We can't see any details on the back of the car, although it does appear that the long hood has a correspondingly short rear deck.
We'll have all the details on the official replacement for the CL-Class when it makes its full debut tomorrow. Until then, what do you think of this lone image? Does it appear that Mercedes has got it right? In terms of design, where would you rank this with the departing CL-Class? Have your say in Comments.

Mercedes-Benz GLK coupe to get 2016 intro

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Radio chatter around the emerging small, premium crossover coupe genre has thus far been dominated by the Land Rover Evoque and the Mini Paceman. According to a report in Car, the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (shown above) has received its invitation to the party and will spend the next three years getting ready: it's said that two-door variant of the crisply-angled CUV is coming in 2016, along with a redesign befitting its sleeker intentions.
To be based on the MRA platform - the rear-drive version of the company's three new modular platforms, it will also support the coming 2013 S-Class and could eventually get an AMG version to help it compete with segment offerings like the forthcoming Porsche Macan. Not much else is known about it beyond its name: Car says it will be called the GLC, a friendly nomenclature we remember best as a Mazda hatchback (allegedly for "Good Little Car"). Internet oldtimers may remember the Mazda GLC as the predecessor to the 323 (which in turn came before today's Mazda3). Either way, the GLC is not to be confused with the larger upcoming BMW X6 rival based on the ML-Class (reportedly called GLS) which is also said to still be in the works, or the front-drive based GLA, a model also edging toward production.

Maybach and Aston Martin alliance talks fall apart

Tue, 27 Sep 2011

If you have, like us, been salivating at the notion of a new generation of Maybach and Lagonda ultra-luxury crafts built by Aston Martin, we've got some bad news: According to reports emanating from Germany, talks between AML and Daimler have broken down.
The proposal under negotiation would have seen Daimler outsourcing production of the next family of Maybach models to Aston Martin, which in return would benefit from Mercedes-Benz platforms and engines - not only for its svelte GTs, but also for its own future Lagonda line of limousines and luxury SUVs. That, and a boatload of money - or at least that's what AML was reportedly seeking, an issue that served as the stumbling block over which the deal reportedly collapsed.
That's not to say the two parties couldn't still reach some sort of a compromise, but short of that, Daimler may opt to either shut down Maybach altogether, find another partner, or take another stab at building new models internally.
