This McLaren 600LT is bespoke for Pebble Beach from roof scoop to road

Thu, Aug 23 2018

It's track-ready but road-legal, comes with track driving instruction, and its price begins at $240,000, but if all that doesn't make the McLaren 600LT special enough for you, then perhaps you'll be interested in the "McLaren 600LT in Stealth Grey by MSO," to be revealed on the Pebble Beach Concept Lawn this Sunday, Aug. 26. MSO, of course, is McLaren Special Operations, the bespoke tailors of the McLaren brand. The MSO crew has crafted this 600LT with a lot more carbon fiber — especially a fully functional roof scoop on this Longtail that's inspired by the McLaren F1 Longtail. McLaren's press release says it "invigorates the driving experience with its active air induction sound." The scoop also has a track telemetry camera "to record inspirational moments." This 600LT also has super-lightweight carbon fiber racing seats taken from the McLaren Senna. The seats have McLaren Orange contrast stitching. There are also McLaren Defined carbon-fiber upgrades to door mirrors, exterior door inserts, the front splitter, rear bumper, diffuser, rear deck, service cover, roof and roof rails, and front fender louvers. Inside, there's carbon fiber on the center tunnel and door inserts. The car gets MSO Clubsport Pro Pack harness bar and six-point harnesses. The Stealth Grey Bespoke finish is accented with matt black and McLaren Orange to accent the aero bits. Inside, occupants can see the roof scoop and its carbon-fiber intake hoses have been integrated into the headliner. There's a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system. And the car keys are hand-painted. The 600LT was just introduced a few weeks ago at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and is noted for its unusual top-exit exhaust, 592 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque from its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8. Its 0-to-60 time is 2.8 seconds; its maximum speed is 204 mph. From there, how the 600LT gets further kitted out is up to the individual customer, with options from the MSO Defined and MSO Bespoke catalogs. Check the McLaren website for more info. As we mentioned, the base price of a 600LT starts at $240,000. A bespoke job by MSO like the one on display at Pebble Beach would cost $363,500. The ghoulish McLaren 600LT Spider by MSO lurks in the night

Sat, Feb 23 2019

McLaren will use anything as an excuse to show off the customization prowess of its McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division. In the past, it has released bespoke cars to celebrate Le Mans, fashion designers, various historic racing achievements and Canada. With its recent creation, McLaren is using the 2019 Geneva Motor Show to display what a 600LT Spider could look like with a few special touches. According to McLaren, about half of all 600LT Coupe buyers use MSO in some form or another, so it assumed fans and customers would like to see similar treatment on the open-top Spider version. McLaren has shown MSO projects regularly at Geneva, and with overall demand and production ramping up, it wasn't about to stop in 2019. This show car is meant to be somewhat of an ode to the 600LT's predecessor, the 675LT, and uses Napier Green as the accent color, an original paint from the 675LT. The main body color is called Dove Grey and gives the car an under-the-radar smoky look. To apply the Napier Green — which outlines several aero pieces, appears on the brake calipers, and stripes across the side of the body — McLaren used a method previously only done on race cars. As it did with the 720S GT3 and 570S GT4, McLaren applied the paint by compressing it into a "light and flexible film." No supercar is complete these days without splashes of carbon fiber, and the MSO 600LT adheres to the trend. The exposed carbon fiber aero kit and the door scoops were given a satin finish to contrast the gloss black wheels. The interior has several optional features, as well. It has carbon fiber racing seats that were first developed for the McLaren Senna, with 600LT embroidered into the headrests. It also features an Alcantara headliner and steering wheel, as well as green contrasting elements all over the place. More carbon fiber was applied to the door inserts, the tunnel sides, the gear select housing and the infotainment surround. The 600LT by MSO is not one of McLaren's most outrageous works, nor does it have a specific theme for its debut, but it will surely draw plenty of attention in Geneva. Since driving one, we've spent most of our time daydreaming about what it'd be like to craft our own. Related Video:

Ken Block's Gymkhana 8 to feature Dubai Police cars?

Tue, Feb 23 2016

Yesterday we showed you the shiny Ford Fiesta that Ken Block will slide, spin, and hoon through the next Gymkhana video. In case the image above isn't clear, that video will drop at midnight EST on February 30th on the Ford Performance YouTube channel. We don't know all the entire premise of the video yet, but this Tweet from the man himself reveals that the video will be set in Dubai. Block is standing on the Fiesta we saw yesterday, and arrayed behind him are a handful of those famous Dubai Police cars you're probably familiar with. The force has a fleet of sportscars and supercars, and the purpose is outreach and goodwill among its citizenry, not necessarily the pursuit of criminals. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. From left to right, we can see a Maserati GranTurismo, Porsche 911, what looks to be a Nissan GT-R obscured by Block's Fiesta, a McLaren (likely a 650S), Ford Mustang, and a Ferrari 599 of some ilk. Will they take part? Maybe Block will try and run from what might be the most horsepower-intensive police fleet in the world. We'll have answers (and a few minutes of pure Block hooniganism) in a few days. Related Video:
