Up for auction is a very clean, mechanically sound 2006 Mazda RX-8. We are selling this vehicle without a reserve - the highest bidder will win this car. The car comes with a 6 speed automatic transmission, sunroof, power windows and locks, cruise control, steering wheel controls, leather interior, power seat, heated seats, and 6-disc CD changer. I do not know of ANY mechanical problems with the vehicle. It cranks, runs, drives and shifts great. There are no warning lights on in the vehicle (check engine, ABS, air bag, etc). It has cold air conditioning and all accessories on the vehicle (windows, cd player, power seat) are in good working order. The car is extremely clean inside and out, having only very minor scratches as would be expected from a 7 year-old vehicle. The front tires are practically new, and the rear tires have about 60% tread life remaining. The only cosmetic defects that I can find on the car are a small door ding on the driver's door (no paint damage), and some light cracking in the dashboard on the passenger's side (shown in pictures). This is a rust-free car, having only been registered in the states of Florida and South Carolina. While this is a great looking and driving car, it does have two issues showing on its vehicle history report. First, it was involved in an accident in March of 2010. The damage was on the driver's side, but it did not result in the air bags being deployed. The paint and body work appear to be very well done, as the paint is smooth and matches well and all gaps align properly. This is NOT a salvage vehicle!!! The second event is a mileage inconsistency from a lien recorded on 5/23/2011 with a reported odometer reading of 91,108. This was not recorded during a sale of the vehicle, but during the recording of a lien (such as from the vehicle being refinanced). With the exception of this one recording, the mileage appears to be consistent through the vehicle's history (look at Auto Check report that is available above). It is my belief that this was simply a recording error by the bank from which the owner got their loan, but this is just my opinion and I can not 100% guarantee the vehicle's mileage to be accurate. As a result, the vehicle will be sold true miles unknown (TMU). We have a South Carolina title in hand, and the only brand appearing on the title is, as mentioned, "Not Actual Mileage." You are welcome to inspect the vehicle or have it inspected by a third party prior to purchase. Although we guarantee all systems on the vehicle to be in good working order at the time of purchase, we do not offer any warranty after the sale. This vehicle is being sold "As Is." If you have any questions, please contact Brett at (864) 388-7828, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM EST. We will gladly answer any of your questions or provide any additional pictures you may wish to see. $500 PayPal deposit due within 48 hours of auction close, with balance due in full within 7 days. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up or delivery.
AGAIN, PLEASE UNDERSTAND BEFORE BIDDING THAT THE TITLE FOR THIS VEHICLE WILL BE BRANDED "NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE."

Mazda Kai concept hints at a more muscular, refined Mazda3
Wed, Oct 25 2017Mazda is packing some serious punch for the Tokyo Motor Show, unveiling a stylish hatchback it's calling the Kai Concept to go along with the earlier reveal of the show-stopping Vision Coupe. The compact five-door concept heralds a new generation of cars for the Japanese automaker, which is best known for making sporty, smallish and well-designed vehicles — such as the Mazda3, from which this concept derives its design direction. This version smooths over most of the Mazda3's sharp body creases in favor of smooth, undulating body panels that dramatically reflect light and reflect Mazda's KODO design language. It also gets more narrow, aggressive-looking headlights and a unique overhead profile, with two panes of glass that continue from the windshield and are intersected by a solid-color center, like a U-shaped moonroof. The Kai is powered by a next-generation Skyactiv-X combustion engine, which uses Mazda's proprietary compression ignition system to give the gas-powered engine the fuel efficiency, torque and initial acceleration response of a diesel powertrain. Which is encouraging, considering the Mazda3 already delivers impressive fuel economy. Inside, the concept hints at more refinement, with streamlined chrome accents popping from the black dash and interior panels. It all rests on Mazda's Skyactiv Vehicle Architecture that reflects human-centered design philosophy in everything from redesigned seats to maintain the spine's natural "S" curvature, to NVH tweaks to encourage a quieter, more comfortable ride. Mazda has said it plans to put this concept into production, but there's no word yet on when exactly that will be.Related Video:
Living Life Large: Driving $2 million worth of cars in one week
Mon, Aug 24 2015Monterey Car Week has quickly become one of my favorite events of the year. There's something for everyone – classic car shows, modern concepts and new vehicle debuts, auctions, racing, and so much more. From a media perspective, there's also a chance to drive a ton of cars. Many automakers bring their latest wares out to Monterey for us to test during our limited free time, and it's a great opportunity to experience fantastic metal against a gorgeous backdrop. That's exactly what I did this year. Instead of flying into Monterey and being driven around, my journey started in Los Angeles and ended in Napa, and I managed to get behind the wheel of some $2 million worth of new cars. Some were old favorites, and many were new experiences. But looking back, this was one of the best weeks of driving I've had in years. Rather than try to come up with some common arc to tie these cars together, here are my notes on all the cars I tested in California earlier this month, presented in the order in which they were driven. 2016 Mazda CX-3 The CX-3 pictured here isn't the exact one I drove in California, but it's close. The only difference was color – my delivered-to-LAX tester wore Mazda's awesome new Ceramic hue (pictured below on the MX-5 Miata). I used the CX-3 to slum through crummy Los Angeles traffic for two hours on the way out to Santa Barbara, with a quick stop at In-N-Out Burger on the way for good measure. A lot nicer inside than I remember. Everyone praises Mazda for its excellence in engineering and design, but there's a lot to be said for the improvements in overall interior refinement. Quiet, comfortable, and well-equipped; the CX-3 made sitting on the 405 freeway a lot more pleasant. Not all that functional. I had a hard time fitting a week's worth of luggage for two people inside. The cargo area and rear passenger compartment were filled, with only enough room on top to see out the back window. A Honda HR-V would've swallowed all that luggage with plenty of room for more. So good to drive. Not surprising, since this wasn't my first time in the CX-3. I knew this CUV would be good on twisty roads, but on the highway it's really exceptional. Road and wind noise are minimal and the overall ride quality is a comfortable sort of sporty. This is definitely something I could drive every day – it's enjoyable during commuting and entertaining on more interesting roads.
Mazda and Isuzu to collaborate on a new pickup truck
Mon, Jul 11 2016After decades, Mazda has finally untangled itself from its relationship with Ford. The last vestige of that partnership is the BT-50, a rebadged version of the global Ford Ranger pickup truck. Once the BT-50 ends production, Mazda has announced that it will collaborate with Isuzu to develop its next generation of pickup trucks. The BT-50 was co-developed with Ford's Australian division. In their current iteration, the BT-50 and its Ranger twin were never on sale in the United States. Mazda's last pickup in the US was the B-Series, itself also a rebadged version of the old Ford Ranger. Isuzu pulled out of the US passenger vehicle market in 2009, although it still sells commercial vehicles here. Isuzu, continuing a long and complicated relationship with General Motors, co-developed the diesel engine that currently powers the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. In select markets, Isuzu sells a rebadged version of the Colorado as the D-Max. Details on the Mazda/Isuzu tie-up are scarce. A single press release simply says "Isuzu will produce next-generation pickup trucks for Mazda, based on Isuzu's pick-up truck model." This isn't the first truck collaboration between the two companies. Since 2004, Mazda has sold the Titan, a rebadged version of the Isuzu Elf commercial truck. The Elf is sold in the US as the Isuzu N-Series. Those in the US hoping for a new competitor in the midsize-truck segment shouldn't get their hopes up for the new truck. There are currently no plans to bring them here. There is hope, though, that Ford will bring the Ranger replacement stateside sometime in the next few years.
