Car is being sold with 2 engines. The engine described below and all the fabrication was done by Mike Essa, Formula Drift Champion, 2013. The raced out motor needs a partial rebuild, pinched seal, easy fix, I was quoted $450 in a known rotary shop in the Southern California area, you'll need the new corner seals, and a net seat of water and oil seals, apex seals are brand spanking new, seals are Hurley 2MM large street port, and exhaust is ported brand new, less than 100 miles. The engine is painted blue, and chromed out at the front, middle and rear housings. Engine is a 1991 13B turbo 2 block. Rebuilt from a JSPEC motor. The other engine that this deal comes with is a running 13B Turbo, 91 Block, JSPEC Block. Plug and play. Engine is running, used. Low miles, perfect running block, while you get the other finalized, Car is worth over 25K. All the parts in the car are brand new, with the exception of the used turbo block. I'm second owner, I've owned it since 44K miles, now it has 76K miles, no accidents, all original body, minor scratches, minor dime sized dings. No Bondo, virtually no rust, California Car, I'm second owner, this car has not seen rain in all of my years as the owner, the vehicle's body is is great-overall condition, for being over 40 years old. About the car, Interior is all complete, and in great condition, I don't have the original carpet, or the original seats, everything else is original, exterior, I don't have the front or rear big-bumpers. I have the grill, I had to take it out due to the oversized 3.5 inch thick spearco core intercooler. I have the bezels as well. All the windows roll down, doors close perfectly good, no body misalignment issues, vehicle is completely underpriced. Other original parts from this car, - Original 3 keys, AutoMatic Transmission, -original dual exhaust, ac/condenser unit, original stock wheels in the rear, original rear seats, original gas tank, original gas/air separator, original emblems for rear, and side, and on the grill.-original grill, 12a blue Japanese air filter cover, original 12a distributor electric. Shipping will be at buyers expense for all the extra parts that I'm including in this deal. This is a great father and son project to finish off in one weekend, and turn it on immediately, so make your child proud. All the fabrication is completed, and car runs solid when it's on. Always garaged, never even broke in the engine. So the buyer will have a bad ass motor once the seals are fixed. Haltech is tuned, so it's good to go with either motor, like I said-plug and play with the substitute engine, and or a partial rebuild. I don't have the time to install the newer engine, so i'm cutting my losses, and selling it, that said I know the car, the price's, etc.

Are Toyota and Lexus planning to use Mazda's straight-six and new platform?
Thu, Jun 20 2019Japan's Best Car magazine has what appears to be a whopper of a rumor. The mag said it scooped Mazda's development of a straight-six engine that Mazda only revealed in March, the carmaker having buried the information in a financial statement. By way of Lexus Enthusiast and according to Google translate, Best Car writes that as it was speaking to a Toyota source on an unrelated matter, the magazine found out that Mazda's work on the straight-six was predicated on the engine's use in Toyota Group vehicles, which includes Lexus. Here's the account of how the engine and Mazda's coming front-engined rear-drive platform, dubbed "Large Architecture," will make their way to Toyota City: The first appearance for the straight-six, predicted to come in at a hair under 3.0 liters, is the Mazda Atenza/Mazda6 successor coming around 2022. The powertrain will get a 48-volt hybrid system for increased fuel economy, and the automaker's said to be considering a plug-in hybrid version. Toyota's first shot at the platform and the straight-six will be whatever fills the slot of the Japanese-market Mark-X sedan. We once had a version of the Mark-X in the U.S. as the Toyota Cressida. In Japan, it's sold as a rear- and all-wheel drive option to the Camry. The Mark-X is slated to end production in December this year — a "sporty four-door coupe" on Mazda's platform and with Mazda's engine eventually taking its place. Lexus has a number of plans for the components from Hiroshima. The next Lexus IS is said to evolve from the current sedan, using a Lexus V6 but migrating to Toyota's TNGA platform. Best Car says the IS after that, perhaps sometime around 2026, will hop onto Mazda's new platform and use the inline-six engine. Before that, the replacement for the Lexus RC in 2022 will sit on the Mazda platform and get that inline-six. What's more, Lexus will introduce a new model to slot between the $64,750 RC and the $92,950 LC employing Mazda's architecture and engine. Best Car says the model will act as a "next car" for RC owners, but we can't tell if the magazine means a two-door or a four-door coupe; the article also says the Lexus model will compete with the Audi A7. Toyota and Mazda partnered up in 2016 on technology sharing. Best Car's take is that, as was done on the Supra, Toyota is picking up all the tech it can from suitable sources so that it can continue to sell models that don't make sense to develop alone.
Mazda recalls 1.37 million older vehicles for ignition switch short [UPDATE]
Fri, Oct 23 2015UPDATE: Mazda has confirmed to Autoblog that NHTSA's figures and list of effected models are accurate. Mazda is recalling 1,368,500 older vehicles in the US that date as far back as the late '80s because a potential short circuit in the ignition switch could cause a fire. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the models include: 1990-1995 323 1993-1998 626 1993-1995 929 1989-1998 MPV 1993-1997 MX-6 1992-1993 MX-3 1990-1998 Protege Mazda reports that over time the grease around the switch's contact points can carbonize and become conductive, which can eventually lead to a short circuit. In some cases this results in smoke, but it could also lead to a fire. According to company spokesperson Tamara Mlynarczyk to Autoblog, there're no accidents, injuries, or fires in the US. Once the vehicle is running, the potential fault also doesn't affect drivability. Documents from NHTSA (as a PDF), indicate there was a fire in one of these vehicles in Japan in 2002 that could have been linked to this issue. The recall should begin in December. In its announcement of the issue below, Mazda reports 1.2 million vehicles affected and includes the 1990-1996 323/Protege. Autoblog has reached out to the company to understand the discrepancy. In the affected vehicles, grease applied to the contact points inside the ignition switch may become conductive and overheat. CONSEQUENCE: If the ignition switch overheats there would be an increased risk of a fire. REMEDY: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ignition switch, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 15, 2015. Owners may contact Mazda Customer Experience Center at 1-800-222-5500, option#6. Mazda's number for this recall is 8715J.
2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata First Drive [w/video]
Fri, Jan 30 2015Hypothetically speaking, if you blindfolded me, put me in the car pictured above, and told me to hit the road, it would have taken me maybe two minutes to figure out that I was driving the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata. There are just certain facets about Miata driving that have been baked into every generation of Mazda's roadster, and it makes for a symbiotic relationship between car and driver that's truly unique. Sure, I could rattle off a list of cars that come close to offering the same sort of experience, but they just can't quite capture the same intrinsic Miata magic. Mazda knows its Miata is an incredibly special machine. Listening to the company's engineers and designers talk about the development of this fourth-generation ND model is fascinating. The attention to detail is astonishing, and every single person involved in the Miata program knows that the most important goal is to keep this car as true to its predecessors' ethos as possible. It cannot just be a great convertible, or even a great Mazda – it has to be a great MX-5 Miata. But the company did not just want to improve upon the third-generation NC Miata, which has been around since 2006. They wanted to tie the ND Miata's roots back to the original NA from 1989. Back in '89, the Miata was a less-powerful, 1.6-liter model with 115 horsepower and 100 pound-feet of torque. Mazda's team said they are proud of every version of the MX-5, but it's this specific, first-generation model that the company calls the "most right" – the most true to the idea of what a Miata ought to be. So that's why, before being allowed to attack the winding roads of the Spanish countryside in the 2016 MX-5, Mazda wanted me to spend some time with a cherry example of the original NA Miata: a Mariner Blue darling that, even with some 239,000 kilometers on its clock, still felt absolutely impeccable from behind the wheel. Light, responsive, and perfectly balanced, it was the original embodiment of the harmony between driver and car that Mazda wanted in every Miata. Mazda executives said they felt the first Miata was also the right size. So they chopped off three inches on the ND compared with the NC, and put it on a wheelbase that's been reduced by six-tenths of an inch. In fact, these dimensions mean the new Miata is more than two inches shorter in length than the original, and only two-tenths of an inch taller. In this day and age of ever-expanding waistlines and footprints, it's a remarkable achievement.
