1994 Mazda Rx-7 Touring Coupe 2-door 1.3l on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
|
Overview The Mazda RX7 was only sold in the US from 1993-1995. The production number was only 13,879 in total, with only 3403 in 1994. Of those 3403 in 1994 only 118 of them came in the Silver Stone Metallic with the Touring Package and a manual transmission. And of those 118 only 16 came with the red interior. 1994 was the last year for the Touring Package option, also the last year the red leather was offered as an option, and the first year the Silver Stone Metallic was available. They softened the suspension in 1994 for the Base and Touring models. Added in 1994 also was a passenger side airbag, map pockets, and one touch driver’s side window switch. To say the car here for sale is rare would be an understatement. Not only would you be hard pressed to find another with the same options and color scheme, you won’t find one in this condition and with this low of miles. This car has been very well cared for its entire life. It has been in single ownership since new. It was garage kept, driven sparingly every year, and never in anything other than sunshine. Maintenance was regularly performed by Mazda technicians and all the recalls were performed by Mazda as well. Exterior This car wears its entirely original paint. There is not one scratch. There is a small chip under the rear spoiler.(see photos) It shines like the day it was sold. No fading or discolorations, not one sign of any rust. The front chin spoiler has not been scraped on any low driveways. Every wheel is in like new condition and wrapped in like new P225/50R16 Goodyear Eagle tires. There is a dealer installed wind deflector on the glass moonroof, with the white Mazda stamp still visible. All gaps are good, doors shut properly, and hood/trunk fit is good as well. It has the optional rear window wiper and washer. There is also a period cell phone antenna on the rear window. Interior The interior in this RX7 is absolutely stunning. As it should be with only a mere 12,000 miles on the car. It has never been repaired or replaced, it is all the original leather and trim. The red leather seats are in amazing condition. They were very well cared for. There is not one sign of discoloration or cracks. The leather is very soft and clean. There are not any stains or spots in the carpet or the optional floor mats. The 2 rear compartments are clean and have no scratches in the plastic trim. The storage compartment on the driver’s door still has its little door. It has the optional rear cargo cover. The center console is like new. The ashtray is clean, the owner was not a smoker. The pedals are drilled aluminum. All the electronics work perfectly. Windows, moonroof, mirrors, and locks all work flawlessly. All the interior lights, gauges, and wipers are in great working order. This car has the optional Bose Acoustic Wave Sound System and it works perfectly. None of the switches or knobs show any wear or discoloration. The AC blows cold. The interior of this car is in simply amazing condition. It does have a period cell phone docking station on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel. Mechanical's The twin turbo 2 cylinder Rotary 1.3 liter engine runs as strong as the day it was built. It pulls like a super car. 0-60 MPH time in the mid-5 second range with 255 BHP and 160 MPH top speed. It has excellent oil pressure. The cooling system works perfectly. Electric fans are in proper working condition, coolant is clean, and there is zero smoke or smells. It has only had premium fuel in its tank. It only has 12,000 original miles on it. All the routine services done to the motor were performed by Mazda, according to the original owner. The turbos are in excellent working condition. The car has zero leaks. All the recalls were performed. All the hoses look to be in great condition. The clutch feels amazing. It shifts very smoothly, including into 5th gear. No rattles, clunks, or shakes. The 4 wheel disc brakes are firm. The car rides very smoothly on its original suspension components. Literature and
Extras The car still has all its original books, pamphlets, and holders. The original window sticker and original spare key. It comes with extra oil filters and air filters from Mazda and the original Bose Sound System test CD. Also, the moonroof interior cover. NFL player Alfred Morris receives his thoroughly restored 1991 Mazda 626
Tue, 15 Oct 2013Washington Redskins starting running back Alfred Morris might not drive a flashy sports car or SUV, but after today, he'll be driving the nicest 1991 Mazda 626 on the planet.
Back in July, Morris temporarily traded in his 626 - cheekily named Bentley - for a 2014 Mazda6 loaner courtesy of Mazda, and today the sedan was presented back to him after the ultimate PR stunt: a reported 275-man-hour restoration that left this 22-year-old daily driver looking like it just rolled off the assembly line.
Not everything was brought back to original condition, though. The expired sticker from Morris' final year at Florida Atlantic University was left on the windshield, but to fit the car's nickname, a few high-end touches were added to the interior. This includes the quilted, cross-stitched leather seats (just like a real Bentley) and the touchscreen Pioneer audio system. There's also a plaque under the hood marking this car as the "Alfred Morris Project."
Best compact SUVs of 2023 and 2024
Thu, Oct 20 2022Compact SUVs are now the go-to choice for family transportation. Actually, considering how popular they are, they have clearly moved beyond only family duty. With such popularity, though, comes an awful lot of competitors, and it can be difficult to figure out which one might be the best compact SUV for you. It's important to note that by "compact SUV" we're talking about a specific segment. As we describe in our more comprehensive "Best small SUVs" list, there are also subcompact SUVs that vary widely in size amongst themselves, but are clearly smaller than the SUVs below. Frankly, today's segment of compact SUVs isn't exactly compact — some have more cargo space than vehicles that are considered midsize based on their exterior dimensions. They've all grown considerably over the years. While many lists out there just rattle off every vehicle available in a segment, we thought we'd be a bit more helpful and curate your shopping a bit with the top-recommended choices reviewed by Autoblog. We've included both mainstream and compact luxury SUV choices. Best compact SUVs of 2023 and 2024 2024 Honda CR-V Why it stands out: Best-in-class space; excellent hybrid powertrain; sharp interior style; Honda dependabilityCould be better: No lower-price base trim levels; no sporty or off-road niche models; no plug-in hybrid Read our full 2024 Honda CR-V Review Consider the CR-V the baseline for any compact SUV search, and look extra closely at the superb CR-V Hybrid option. Objectively speaking, it's tough to beat due to its massive cargo capacity, voluminous back seat, strong-yet-efficient engines, well-balanced driving dynamics, competitive pricing and features, and well-regarded reliability. It's easy to see why it continues to be such a best-seller: for the vast majority of compact SUV buyers, and especially families, it checks every box. That's been the case for many years now, however. The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V changes things up by adding a bit more style and character, particularly in terms of its interior design and how surprisingly enjoyable the Sport and Sport Touring hybrid trim levels are to drive.
2021 Mazda3 2.5 Turbo is official, with automatic transmission only
Wed, Jul 8 2020The Mazda3 Turbo is here, and while it’s no Mazdaspeed, this is still a happy day for enthusiasts. Its full, official name is the 2021 Mazda3 2.5 Turbo, which begins to describe it perfectly. Just as was expected, Mazda has taken its 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder off its shelf and plopped it into the compact 3. When run on 93 octane fuel, Mazda claims 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. You can still run it on 87 octane, but the numbers drop to 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Mazda says this engine has a specific calibration for the Mazda3 “to deliver the unique driving dynamics expected by our most passionate drivers.” The engine delivers a stout low-end shove in its other applications, so perhaps Mazda has found a way to make it more excitable in the upper rev ranges. WeÂ’ll see about that when we drive it. The Turbo is also paired exclusively with all-wheel drive and the six-speed automatic transmission. It is sad to see the six-speed manual being left in the dust here, but Mazda has decided to not offer it as an option. The all-wheel drive system operates the same as the one in the naturally aspirated version, which should hopefully be good enough to mitigate torque steer and understeer. Mazda hasnÂ’t quoted any official acceleration times for the Turbo yet, but we expect it could chop about a second off the carÂ’s 0-60 mph time. Something in the low 6-second range seems plausible. There are no changes to the chassis, suspension or brakes for this model; Mazda says "the current Mazda3, as well as all our vehicles, are always designed and tuned to be focused on dynamic driving. We are confident that the turbo engine will help to refine the already exciting driving experience without the need to add more than is necessary." It does come in a base trim (similar to a base hatchback in content), but even that trim is relatively well-equipped. A Premium Plus Package is available that raises the bar. This package includes leather seats, navigation, HomeLink, Traffic Jam Assist (provides steering inputs below 40 mph to stay in lane), 360-degree camera, rear automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic braking and parking sensors in front and back. Unfortunately, the new driver assistance features we listed above are exclusive to the Turbo and wonÂ’t be available on other Mazda3 models this year.
