Nate Please use the photobucket link below to see more pictures and video since I couldn't put them all on eBay. Pictures and videos taken October 2013 (its been in storage since): http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/mtnrolfes/library/1993%20RX-7%20R1%20For%20Sale Older video: http://www.spike.com/video-clips/4k4uza/southeast-route-of-tail-of-the-dragon History: I purchased it in the fall of 2000 from a seller in Tennessee. Within a year, the engine blew (tip seal) at the track, around 92k miles. Over the following winter the engine was rebuilt… The intake was ported, lightweight flywheel installed, new stock turbos, racing beat exhaust, custom air intake, Power FC fuel computer and commander installed. The Power FC was tuned by Steve Kan (www.kantuning.com). My goal for the rebuild was to make it rock solid, reliable, and fast. From 2001-2005 I put approximately 25k miles on the vehicle and the new engine taking it to few different tracks and on road trips. There is also a bullet cam installed on the front lip and wired up through the glove box with RCA inputs. Its been in storage since 2005 basically because I had kids and don’t really have time for it. I start it 2x a year and drive it for couple hours, and it always cranks right up and does not smoke. I have always changed the oil every 2000 miles and the engine and turbos are both very strong. I am including a lot of extras which I collected over the years….extra set of stock turbos and other miscellaneous parts and useful tools and other goodies. Exterior: The exterior
is in good shape. No dents, dings,
etc. Paint is chipped in a couple places and has been touched up with touch up paint. I have a custom cut headlight cover
intake to feed cold air into the engine intake, but I still have the original
headlight cover in case you want to switch back. The taillights have been modified for ’99
spec (http://www.rotaryaddicts.com/?page_id=446). Interior: The interior is in fair shape. The seats are actually leather seats from a touring series (not the original Cloth R1 seats). The power window switch on the passenger side doesn’t work, but it can be rolled down from the driver side switch which has both. Under the
Hood: I’ve focused all my energy, time, and resources on the under-hood aspect of the car so it would be as fast and reliable as possible. It is extremely reliable and engine is rebuilt very strong (when Steve Kan was tuning it he remarked at how well it pulled at high speeds). I can’t possibly sell the car at a price to get back the investment I’ve put into these performance parts, so my loss is your gain. The parts listed below are all installed on the car. In total over $5000 worth of upgrades. Please note, the air conditioning and power steering has been removed. It can be reinstalled, but I preferred the steering feel (more responsive, and the car is already so light you don't even notice the missing p/s except for slightly heavier efforts at parking lot speeds) and the stock A/C system was terrible anyway. Removing both of these lightened the car and gave the engine more power and made it more reliable. The following modifications have been made to the car: Apex’i Power Intake ($349) http://www.rx7store.net/Apexi_Power_Intake_RX_7_p/apexi%20intake%20fd.htm Greddy Intercooler Hard Piping Kit ($399) http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fdintercooler.html Greddy Power Pulley ($179) http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/greddy%20pulley.htm Stainless Steel Brake Lines ($99) http://www.rx7store.net/Brakelines_Mazda_RX_7_p/stainlessfdlines.htm ACT Street/Strip Clutch Kit ($880) http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/zx6-hdss.htm ACT Streetlite Flywheel and Counterweight ($262) http://www.rx7store.net/ACT_Streetlite_Flywheel_93_RX_7_p/600145.htm Pettit Coolant Air Separation Tank ($149) http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/pettitast.htm Apexi Power FC + Commander 93+ RX-7 ($1075) http://www.rx7store.net/Apex_Power_FC_Mazda_RX_7_p/power%20fc.htm Exhaust Downpipe / Midpipe combo ($199) http://www.rx7store.net/Downpipe_Midpipe_Combo_93_RX_7_p/dpmpcombofd3s.htm Racing Beat Dual Tip Exhaust ($610) http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/rbdualtip.htm Nippondenso High Flow Fuel Pump ($199) http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/nippondenso%20pump.htm Autometer Boost, Water Temp, and Fuel Pressure Gauges ($207) http://www.rx7store.net/category_s/95.htm Magnecor Plug Wires ($69), NGK Platinum Plugs ($40) http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/magnecor.htm http://www.rx7store.net/category_s/102.htm Efini Y-Pipe ($299) http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/efiniypipe.htm Streetable Intake Porting ($400) http://www.racingbeat.com/RX7-1993-1995/Engine-Porting/11403.html |

Super-rare Mazda MX-5 Miata coupe pops up for sale
Wed, Feb 13 2019It's somehow fascinating that one of the most interesting developments of Mazda's MX-5 Miata roadster is the one that isn't a roadster at all. Unlike the NC and ND generations with retractable power hardtops, the second-generation NB Miata got a special coupe version with a fixed roof, done in the style of the first-generation coupe concept. We're talking very limited production numbers: just 179 of these NB coupes were made, and they were all Japanese-market models, so it's not often that one comes up for sale. Except now. Itself even more of a limited-edition car, this sportier Type S version residing in Hong Kong and advertised on Pistonheads is one of just 63 made. It's right-hand-drive, as both its Japanese market origins and Hong Kong regulations dictate, and out of the available engine variations it comes with the 1840cc unit and a six-speed manual gearbox. What's more, despite its low 30,000 miles, the 2004 fixed-roof Miata is said to be fully overhauled and restored to as-new condition. We can't imagine those coupe-specific parts such as glass and trim are easy to source, so with these extremely rare cars it's probably best to go with the best condition example you can find, if you can find one to begin with. Rust hits all old Miatas at some point. With that backdrop, the GBP30,000 ($38,700) asking price doesn't seem all that unreasonable. With the Miata's enormous enthusiast base, there are now aftermarket solutions that imitate the flowing lines of the rare factory coupe, but they do lack the strengthening that Mazda's specialty skunkworks shop put in these — and the body-stiffening roof adds a mere 22 pounds to the car's dainty overall weight. For some lucky Miata hobbyist, this particular red coupe might be the crown jewel of their roadster collection. Related Video:
Mazda spiders return, 42k Mazda6 sedans recalled for webby fuel tanks
Sat, 05 Apr 2014It seems that Yellow Sac spiders really, really love Mazda. Three years after Mazda recalled 52,000 Mazda6 sedans over spider webs obstructing the evaporative canister vent lines of 2009 and 2010 Mazda6 models, another recall has been issued for 42,000 more of the models built between 2010 and 2012 and equipped with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
According to the automaker, there have been nine confirmed sightings of spiders in vent lines since the original recall. It seems that covers were applied at the factory to keep the arachnids from entering, but it hasn't quite exterminated the problem. A reflash of the ECU is required that "[changes] the logic behind how the car purges the charcoal canister during normal operation," says Jeremy Barnes, Director, Public Relations & Brand Experience at Mazda North American Operations.
So far, Mazda has not recorded any fires, accidents or injuries due to this tangled mess of webs. Recall notices will be mailed out to owners later this month. Scroll down below for the statement from Mazda, along with the official recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
RingBanana Miata breaks 9-min Nurburgring barrier
Wed, Aug 26 2015The RingBanana is a cheap Mazda MX-5 Miata on a screaming mission: to lap the Nurburgring in under nine minutes. And let us emphasize the word "cheap." The team wanted the least expensive Miata they could find that still ran, and then wanted to spend the least amount of money possible in order to hit their target mark. We don't know how much they spent on the Ringbanana, but they were so indiscriminate about the purchase that they don't know what year the car is. They only know that it's got 90 horsepower, green springs, Fulda tires, and "it's completely crap." After setting a base lap of 9:21.8 the guys behind the project figured they'd have a fair bit of work. Turns out a new set of Kumho V70A semi-slick, road-legal race tires paired with Gabriel Pirana's driving is all they needed. With just that mod Pirana set a lap time of 8:59.9, and that was while having to deal with one spot of slow traffic that was getting around a stricken car. According to Wikipedia, this puts them between a 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged and a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS. Even though the team achieved its goal on its first attempt, the Ringbanana game isn't over – there's probably a suspension mod in the near future while the guys figure out just how quickly they can go. The video above does a good job of showing just how fun it can be driving a slow car fast.
