1986 Mazda RX-7 GXL 1.3 liter N/A rotary engine with only 19k original miles. Never driven in the snow. Stored in a Kentucky barn from 1988-2013. It has been totally mechanically restored. Body and interior are as found and untouched. Interior is like a time capsule , looks as new. Body is really nice. No rust at all. There are some paint blemishes caused by sap from the barn beams where it was stored. Mostly on the roof but there are some on the door and rear bumper/hatch. I left the body alone so the original condition could be observed. You can repaint if you like or drive as is. I have put over 3000 miles on the car since mechanical restoration. It drives great. Everything works except the A/C which I did not trouble shoot but would expect needs a recharge at a minimum. Suspension has original adjustable shocks/struts.

List of reconditioned parts:

Fluids: engine oil change, manual transmission fluid, rear differential fluid, brake fluid flush, coolant flush, power steering fluid changed. All top quality fluids used, synthetic where applicable.

Rubber parts: all vacuum hoses replaced with silicone hoses, upper and lower radiator hoses, rubber gas lines, misc. coolant hoses.

Gaskets: Upper manifold gaskets, intake plenum gaskets, thermostat and gasket, numerous others.

Rubber shifter bushings, spark plugs, spark plug wires, air cleaner, oil injector rebuilt, new brake master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder bleed and fill, airbox plenum rebuilt, fuel injectors rebuilt and flow tested, fuel pump and both fuel filters replaced, the list is endless!

4 Goodyear tires with 80% tread installed. Brakes and rotors are original and barely worn!

All new wipers front and rear, new battery and horn relay.

Engine was boroscoped and apex seals are as new. Cylinder bores are like new and clean. Car runs and starts great. Even in cold weather. Drives like new.

I drove the car up until October last year and it was stored in a heated garage until now. Too many toys so something must go. Hard to find another in this great of shape.

I've probably forgotten a few dozen things. Email with questions. Car can be driven anywhere.

No trades, cash only, please only serious inquires. Thanks for looking. Winter storage for a small fee is available if you need it. Same year running parts car also available for additional fee.

Bid with confidence. My feedback is excellent. Deposit is refundable if I misrepresented the car.

Hiss off! Venomous snake takes refuge in Australian man’s engine bay

    Wed, Jan 3 2018

A man who went out for a walk in suburban Sydney got quite a surprise when he returned to his red Mazda. Left on his windshield was a hand-written note warning him that a venomous red-bellied black snake had taken up residence in his car. "Hi," the note read, "this afternoon a red Belly slithered up into your front left tyre. Please be careful." The snake is a native of wet areas of eastern Australia that can grow up to 2.5 meters (about 8 feet), making it one of Australia's largest venomous snakes. They're considered dangerous, but shy, unlikely to bite unless severely agitated. When Michael Garbutt popped the hood, he found the snake coiled up inside in the corner. "To say I was shocked is an understatement," he told The Sydney Morning Herald. "On reflection I don't think I would have put my hand out to pop the bonnet if I had known it was there." So he took to Google to look for a local snake wrangler and found Andrew Melrose, of Shire Snake Catchers. By the time he arrived, the snake had moved down into the engine. Then it moved behind the wheel guard, and then under the engine to the front bumper, then back to the right front wheel. Melrose said he coaxed it out by gently touching its body. "I've done it my whole life," he said. "It looks simple but if you haven't done it before you can get killed real quick." In the end, Melrose ended up grabbing the snake from the ground outside of the car and dropping it in a bag. The whole de-snaking process took about an hour. Melrose said the snake is common on the swampy peninsula area where it was found, since it finds plenty of frogs, eels and other creatures to eat. He says it's common to find them in cars. "If they get startled they look for the first place that is safe," he said. "The place I found it was very bare. There was no place for the snake to escape. People would have startled it and the only place for it to hide was the car. The driver could have driven off unaware and parked and the snake would have left the car when it felt safe." So let this be a lesson for you, Autoblog readers: familiarize yourself with your local venomous snakes. And keep the number of your local snake wrangler handy at all times. Or just don't move to Australia.Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Mazda3 sedan revealed by Top Gear Russia [w/poll]

    Wed, 03 Jul 2013

Thanks to our comrades at Top Gear Russia, the trickling reveal of the Mazda3 sedan has begun. We saw the hatch in person in New York (and loved it), and we wanted to see if the trunked version could hold onto the same mojo. If you like the Mazda6, then you should like the Mazda3 because it takes just about everything from its toothsome big brother and shrinks it into a compact package.
Top Gear Russia was allowed to share photographs of the Mazda sedan they call "Treshka" (or they leaked them, depending on whom you talk to), but not their drive impressions. The site page says it will come in four trims for the Russian market - Drive, Active, Active+ and Supreme - and offer three engines. Our specifications will certainly differ. Other than that, all we have to go on are the looks, which some may argue are even better than the hatch thanks to a trunk line that provides more balance to that long hood up front.
The Mazda3 will go on sale later this year and US prices should be announced in September. For the time being, content yourself with the gallery of high-res images above.

Mazda6 GX Grand-Am racer goes where no diesel sedan has gone before

    Sat, 26 Jan 2013

There has never been a four-door diesel sedan in the Grand-Am series, until now: The blunt, bewinged grille of the Mazda6 GX has blown right through that wall. It's said that racing improves the breed, but usually the breed has gone on sale when the racing begins. One of the unusual aspects of the Mazda6 GX, on the other hand, is that while the diesel won't go on sale to the public until later this year, it will already have tasted racing blood by the end of the day. That kind of reversal is more likely found with super coupes like the Lexus LFA and Honda NSX.
Mazda has taken class wins at Daytona's 24-hour race a whopping 23 times since 1975, most recently in 2010 with the RX-8 in the GT class. This year the Hiroshima company decided to show off its SkyActiv technology, then turned things up to eleven by opting for its SkyActiv-D instead of the more conventional SkyActiv-G gas engine to run in the new GX class. It will be joined by competitors like the Lotus Evora and Porsche Cayman in the class, nevertheless, at 2.4 liters, it's the smallest engine on the grid.
Time has not been a friend, either - Mazda said that the first five SkyActiv-D engines off the production line went to Speed Source in Coral Springs, Florida, the company that preps Mazda's race vehicles. Still, race driver Jonathan Baumarito on the #70 car said that although the engine's been on the dyno since February of last year, it's only been in the car for about a month and there have been only a couple of test days.
