I am selling a white 1985 Mazda RX7 GSL-SE. This model has limited-slip differential and four wheel disc brakes with the more popular 4x114.3 bolt pattern and more robust wheel bearings.

It has a REBUILT 1.3L 13B EGI engine. Runs great! Doesn't flood, never overheats, great oil pressure, good voltage etc. All the smog equipment is present and functional. Will pass smog. I've driven it to Los Angeles and back with no issues. Gets 23mpg highway. After the break in, converted to Idemitsu Full Synthetic Rotary Engine Oil, K&N air and oil filters, always used Zerex G-05 coolant with distilled water also.

Major Repairs/Upgrades:
  • Good tested ignition Igniters
  • New Wheel Bearings front and rear
  • New Brakes (including Stop Tech Carbon-Kevlar performance brake pads, Performance DOT stainless-braided brake lines, Stop Tech Racing DOT4 brake fluid, Russel Speed Bleeders)
  • Energy Suspension bushing kit
  • Tokico Illumina Adjustable shocks
  • Racing Beat Springs
  • Nardi steering wheel and hub
  • Mechanical oil pressure/oil temperature gauges. (oil temperature needs a fitting to be hooked up)
  • Swapped in later version 1986 RX7 transmission with Redline synthetic fluid
  • Carter fuel pump

Small issues:
  • Speedometer stopped working (and therefor cruise control isn't working)
  • Reverse lights aren't working
  • Horn isn't working
  • Air Conditioning needs a recharge
  • Rear Differential needs service
  • Power steering pump is on its way out.
  • Removed rear wiper motor assembly

Exterior: I'd rate the condition of the body as a 7 out of 10. It is straight with no major dents. The worst damage it has is from previous owner not knowing where to properly place the jack stands. However, the alignment specs on this car are spot on, which is a great sign that there was no major accident damage. The vent between the wipers in front of the windshield is a bit bent. Being that it is a California car there are some spots of surface rust by the bumpers, headlights, sunroof hinges, etc. I took pictures of all the noticeable spots of rust. Paint is in fair condition.

Interior: Probably a 5 out of 10. All the buttons/switches work, but the seats are torn, the carpet is worn in some spots, and a lot of the plastic trim is broken off, etc. The heater works good. Original stereo wasn't working and I haven't gotten around to putting in a new one yet. The speakers I'm sure are old and probably bad.

Mazda2 successor to ride atop shortened CX-5 platform

Fri, 31 May 2013

Mazda, looking to make the most of its new, lightweight Skyactiv vehicle architecture, will allegedly use a version of the CX-5 crossover's platform to underpin its next-generation Mazda2 hatchback, according to a report from Just-Auto.com. Of course, the Mazda2 is a much smaller vehicle than its larger CUV stablemate, so some serious chopping will no doubt be in order when it comes time to engineer the replacement for the company's smallest hatch.
Currently, the CX-5 and the sleek new Mazda6 share many of the same platform components, and this architecture will already be scaled down to support the next-generation Mazda3 sedan and hatchback, which will debut later this year. Just-Auto.com states that all of Mazda's remaining front-wheel-drive vehicles will eventually switch to reworked versions of this Skyactiv platform, including the replacement for the larger CX-9 crossover.
Also of note, Mazda will reportedly be switching to shorter, four-year lifecycles for its vehicles. This means that the newly launched Mazda6 will be replaced for the 2016 calendar year, with a refresh coming sometime in 2014. That said, vehicles with platforms supplied by other automakers (like the upcoming MX-5 Miata replacement that will share its underpinnings with an Alfa Romeo product) will not necessarily follow this four-year rule.

Are you the 2016 Mazda Miata?

Tech nerds are spoiled. Every year, there's a new iPhone that arrives following months and months of breathless speculation and rumormongering. We car folk have a more difficult life, because vehicles with the iPhone's cult-like devotion and following, while plentiful, only receive hefty updates after several years. Case in point, the Mazda MX-5.
There's a new one coming, and much like the iPhone 6, it'll arrive in just a few weeks. So, in lockstep with the tech folk, we're anxiously biding our time and waiting with baited breath for the expected debut date of September 3. Also, like Apple fanboys, we're clamoring over any hint or teaser as to what the next-gen Miata will bring, which is why we're showing you the above image.
That is, allegedly, the new MX-5 hiding under the sheet. Auto Motor und Sport has the image, which according to World Car Fans was released by Mazda. Of course, we've reached out to the Zoom-Zoom brand for verification of its authenticity, and will be sure to update as soon as we hear back.

Mazda builds 4-millionth Mazda3

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

To say that the Mazda3 is a vital product for Mazda would be one heck of an understatement. In fact, the model line accounts for about 30 percent of the manufacturer's sales. Fortunately for Mazda, they're selling well.
These days, the Japanese automaker is building the Mazda3 (known domestically as the Axela) in Japan, China, Thailand and, as of last month, in Mexico. The company's expanded global production capacity has helped Mazda reach four million units of the Mazda3 sold around the world since the first model was introduced over ten and a half years ago.
Over the course of that decade since its introduction in June 2003, Mazda has gone through three generations of Mazda3, the newest model benefiting from the company's Skyactiv technology and even encompassing a hybrid model in the Japanese Domestic Market.
