1983 Mazda Rx7, Gsl, 4 Port 13b, Everything In Great Shape on 2040-cars
Greenfield, Massachusetts, United States
I am the second owner. I purchased the car in 1987 in California. It was my daily driver until 2000. I gradually modified the car over 26 years I owned it.
Shocks were replace 3 times, I think it currently has KYBs in front and Koni in rear with heavy duty sway bars from racing beat and a shock tower bracket. Transmission was replaced in 1992 with a stock 5 speed from Mazda In 1997 I installed a 13B 4 port motor with a stage II Port and polish, Dynamic Balancing , rear graved oil ring, high volume oil Pump, electric cooling fan that is thermostatically controlled. I replaced this motor again with the same in 2005 and it has been running perfectly. Car has a light weight fly wheel that was balanced with the new motor and a Centerforce III clutch. Motor winds past 8000 RPM and is getting just under 200 HP. It sounds great at high RPM. It is running a Makuni Side draft Carburetor, headers that have been heat wrapped Replaced everything that could possibly be replaced over the years to make it run and look great. It is a great drivers car. New Head lights, new pedals, alarm system, Momo wheel and shift knob. New speakers, new battery, maintenance done this summer. The leather seats are starting to show some ware and the drivers seat has some surface cracks in the leather. The Air conditioning was disconnected in 2005. It had been running but since it has not been used in 7 years it might need work. It is all still hooked up except the pulley. The sound system Nakamichi TD1, top of the line for that error and it will play an IPod I now live in Colorado and the Car is currently in western Mass, in Greenfield, I am not completely sure or the exact milage as of the posting I am not able to look at the car, I know that it is close I purchased an 89 Porsche and after 26 years I am ready to let go of the Mazda |

Modded budget Mazda Miata takes on new Porsche Boxster in more challenges
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Earlier this month, our friends across the pond at Auto Express released the first in a two-video series that would see them try and build up a second-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata that could best a standard Porsche Boxster around the track. While that first video detailed the mods to the MX-5 - a supercharger, some suspension upgrades and a new set of super-sticky rubber being chief among them - and set baseline lap times for the stock car, today, we have the results of the 5,000-pound ($8,200) upgrade job.
Of course, we aren't going to spoil those for you. You'll need to watch the full video, which recaps the upgrades before digging into a comparison of both straight-line-speed differences between the 2.7-liter Porsche Boxster and blown Miata, as well as their behavior and lap times on the track.
Take a look and let us know what you think in Comments.
2014 Mazda6 gets up to 38 mpg, priced from $20,880*
Thu, 03 Jan 2013The 2014 Mazda6 starts at $20,880 - *excluding a $795 destination fee - and will offer buyers up to 37 mpg highway in base form. That money will fetch buyers a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired to a six-speed manual - a setup packing 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. The Skyactiv powertrain is good, Mazda says, for 25 miles per gallon in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. Stepping up to the six-speed automatic gearbox will yield an additional 1 mpg in city and highway driving for up to 38 mpg highway. Despite offering more equipment, the base 2014 model carries a modest $155 price increase over its 2013 predecessor.
Available trims include i Sport starting at $22,495 and i Touring at $24,495 (*both excluding destination charges). The latter swaps the standard car's 17-inch wheels for 19-inch rollers and includes dual-zone automatic climate control and leatherette sport seats among other niceties. Buyers can snap up a tech package that includes TomTom navigation and an 11-speaker Bose Centerpoint sound system for $2,000. Keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers and the company's Smart City Brake Support are all part of that kit as well. Check out the full press release below for more information, and look for more details on the diesel-powered 2014 Mazda6 as we get closer to that vehicle's launch.
White House clears way for NHTSA to mandate vehicle black boxes
Fri, 07 Dec 2012At present, over 90 percent of all new vehicles sold in the United States today are equipped with event data recorders, more commonly known as black boxes. If the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gets its way, that already high figure will swell to a full 100 percent in short order.
Such automotive black boxes have been in existence since the 1990s, and all current Ford, General Motors, Mazda and Toyota vehicles are so equipped. NHTSA has been attempting to make these data recorders mandatory for automakers, and according to The Detroit News, the White House Office of Management Budget has just finished reviewing the proposal, clearing the way. Now NHTSA is expected to draft new legislation to make the boxes a requirement.
One problem with current black boxes is that there's no set of standards for automakers to follow when creating what bits of data are recorded, and for how long or in what format it is stored. In other words, one automaker's box is probably not compatible with its competitors.
