2003 Mazda Protege5 Base Hatchback 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
Here are the things are wrong with the car:
1.- 3erd pops out of gear, most likely cause: synchronizer. All other speeds are fine. (tired of belonging to the 2nd to 4th club) 2.- Difficulty filling up gas tank, most like cause: bad carbon canister, allows gas to fill hose that brings fumes to catalytic converter, therefore, air doesn't evacuate gas tank fast enough (eBay = $14.60) 3.- Esthetics: Rust on 4 wheel wells (some more than others) see pics. , a couple on corner of hood, dent on drivers door, front bumper (you can also notice these on the pictures, even when I don't have close ups). Hood and roof paint is dull Now the good: Absolutely everything works as it should, "EVERYTHING". No oil leaks, no warning lights on, no strange noises, no overheating, over 50% life on tires ( front tires, top rated by consumer reports, 205/50ZR-16 Continental ExtremeContact DWS ), driven only about 22,000 in almost 4 years and never, ever had a problem with the car leaving me stranded....by the way, rear sits fold absolutely flat New battery (should give you at least 3 more years of life, not a cheap one, passenger side front and rear calipers changed. This car is sold "AS IS", no warranties of any kind, pick up only. Please, feel free to contact me with any questions or for and appointment to look at the car and test drive (D. L. required) |

Mazda's awesome Hiroshima museum now navigable by Google Maps
Fri, 15 Mar 2013Visiting an auto museum is one of the best ways we know to connect with car culture and to commune with the past and bone up on one's knowledge. Most of us have a decent museum within a few hours drive of where we live, but that doesn't mean it's easy to see the world's great collections - factors like cost, time and mobility can get in the way. Videos are great, but they don't allow us to browse at our own pace or choose what we'd like to focus on. The folks behind Google Maps have a solution - the virtual museum tour, as seen here at Mazda's fantastic museum in Hiroshima, Japan.
The Google Maps tour allows viewers to take a walk through the main exhibition area of the museum, and you can focus on specific classic cars from Mazda, or check out displays featuring new technologies like Skyactiv. To take a quick spin through the museum - or a leisurely stroll at your own pace - scroll down to start your own virtual tour.
2014 Mazda6 earns Popular Mechanics' 'Car of the Year'
Tue, 12 Nov 2013Ring one up for Mazda. The Japanese brand's midsize offering, the Mazda6, has been named Popular Mechanics' Car of the Year. The 6 received a comprehensive reworking for the 2014 model year that saw it adopt sleek, sexy sheet metal; a clean, logical interior; and powertrain technologies that allow it to net some of the best fuel economy available in a gas-powered, non-hybrid sedan.
Popular Mechanics praised the 6's Skyactiv 2.5-liter, 184-horsepower engine, as well as its agility and responsiveness during testing. It also remarked on the functional, but well designed cabin, and the degree of available technology.
"The Mazda6 really impressed us with how well it delivers so many things modern car owners want: great mileage, fun road-handling, upscale features and looks - and remarkable value," said Jim Meigs, Editor-in-Chief of Popular Mechanics.
Will the new Mazda Miata be available with multiple engines?
Mon, 01 Sep 2014At this point, the countdown until the launch of the all-new, fourth-generation 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata can be measured in hours until its September 3 unveiling as easily as it can in days. With the debut of such a highly anticipated model so close, the rumors about the new sports car are starting to boil over.
We recently heard that the new Miata would likely get a 2.0-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder with a six-speed manual, plus a decent drop in weight compared to the current gen. There's even the rumored possibility of a fastback coupe version sometime in the future.
Now, Australia's GoAuto is adding another dollop of speculation into the mix with the claim that there could be "potentially more engine options," according to Mazda Australia managing director Martin Benders to the website. The more potent option would still be the 2.0-liter Skyactiv with a power bump from its current 167 hp to closer to 200 ponies. The other possible powerplant option would be a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder taken from the upcoming Mazda2 replacement. This version would also ditch some of the MX-5's more premium features to cut the weight and the price slightly.
