2006 MazdaSpeed 6 AWD Turbo Here is my info and take on the car first: Very low production # of a factory built Hi Performance Sedan. Im helping a good friend sell his well maintained, almost anal retentive to the point 2006 MazdaSpeed 6. Adult owned and driven this car has not been beat on or raced on a regular basis. The car has never been in the snow and because Az gets about 12" of rain a YEAR, its hardly ever been driven in the rain. The owner is actually more of a 4x4 guy, but wanted something cool fast and different, so about a yr or so ago this was the answer to the vehicle he was looking for instead of driving his lifted 4x4 everyday. If you are looking at the auction you may already know a little bit about how rare these cars and and how well designed these cars are out of the box from the factory. Built to take on other AWD cars in its class, STi , Evo etc and Mazda did it very well and under the radar. DRIVETRAIN: Turbo AWD 2.3L w a 6 spd // All dealer maintained INTERIOR: Super clean and well kept leather is in better shape then you may expect. Even for a 7 yr old car, its in great condition. Dont expect NEW, but check out the pics. Owner is a Non smoker too. Tinted windows normal for AZ SUSPENSION: All stock original down to the OE alloy rims Rides and drives great. A few of the rims do have some road rash, but its all cosmetic. BODY: All original body panels and paint . Shown in the last few pics near the bottom youll see the pics of the obvious damage. Door ding / scuff on the lower front bumper / and small split in the lower front air dam bumper area. Keep in mind its a 7 yr old car. The owners name is Jordan and you can email him directly at (jordan@thetechkeys.com) or email us thru ebay if you want. Scammers dont bother haha. Now here is the info supplied to me by the owner for the ad: I am sad to sell my 2006 Mazdaspeed6 but I am moving to LA and will be buying a different, more appropriate car for the Ca surroundings The car has 94,889 miles on it and is in near perfect condition. The body has a few small dings but that is about it. All work performed on this car was done here in Tucson at the Jim Click Mazda dealer on auto mall. I have very thorough records of all work -scanned as PDF's that I can provide digitally, printed, or both. The work includes very expensive wear items like the rear differential, AWD coupler, timing belt, valve job, and emissions system update - all already done professionally. On top of that I have had every single small detail fixed at the dealer and will continue to do so till the car sells. All oil changes done on schedule at dealer as well. If you are good at driving a manual transmission you are welcome to test drive, otherwise please bring someone with you who is. Turbocharged and intercooled 2.3 Liter DOHC 16-valve inline-4, all aluminum with direct injection.? Power (SAE net): 274 bhp @ 5500 rpm? Mazda considering a 'hyper' Mazda3 with the 250-hp 2.5-liter turbo four
Mon, Apr 15 2019Mazda boss Akira Marumoto said last year there'd be no Mazdaspeed version of the new Mazda3 because the hot hatch segment wasn't a priority for the carmaker. Then Mazda engineer Dave Coleman told Road & Track that without "an engine on the shelf that would fit properly," an MPS variant made no sense. The first reader comment on our Coleman post read, "Engine — you have it; cue up the 2.5T." Mazda might have been listening. Program manager Kota Beppu told Autocar he'd like a "hyper" Mazda3, the outlet figuring the 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo would make the most sense for power. Autocar wrote "the project had not been officially signed off, [but] insiders suggest that is a formality." When Car and Driver queried Mazda and its sources about the report, the magazine realized "the company is seriously considering a high-performance hot hatch." What's more, "Drew Cary, senior manager for brand communications, said, 'We encourage people to ask for it, though. Our planners and executives are watching and listening to fans.'" The turbocharged 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G four-cylinder — which doesn't sell in Europe — makes 250 hp on premium gasoline and 310 pound-feet of torque in the Mazda6, CX-5 and CX-9. A next-generation SkyActiv-G is predicted on the way next year, bringing more boost and power. Even as is, we're talking a chunky lump of power to send to the front wheels, and Beppu mentioned torque steer. The new Mazda3's all-wheel drive would alleviate that bugbear. Unlike the raw, fast-twitch reflexes of the last Mazdaspeed3 from 2013, Beppu says a new model "needs to be responsible and friendly ... more friendly than a Golf GTI." And, "It should be fast." The polished looks and interior address the necessary perceptions. CD's done the math on the current 2.5-liter and predicts a five-second sprint to 60 miles per hour, which is Volkswagen Golf R and Honda Civic Type R territory, so GTI comparisons could be a case of aiming low. Imagine a 300-hp engine with a touch more torque and a six-speed manual ... If Mazda follows through with such a product, it could take two years to get the green light. However, we're told that Mazda's Los Angeles research and development center has already built a proof-of-concept to encourage and anticipate that green light.
2015 Mazda2 spotted in Japanese magazine
Tue, 16 Jul 2013The styling changes at Mazda are proceeding at a fairly quick tempo. The CX-5 was unveiled, followed by a refreshed CX-9, the excellent Mazda6, and most recently a new Mazda3. This all happened over the course of less than two years, which in the auto industry is like a long week.
Now the Mazda2 is getting its revamp. Thanks to a magazine scan from Japan, we now have our first look at the new sub-compact, called the Demio, in its home market. Mazda's familial front end has been fitted, and it doesn't look quite as suited to the smaller car. Lacking the long-hood look of the Mazda3 and Mazda6, the new styling looks overly rounded, almost bulbous from our angle. It's still attractive, but the shape is kind of off-putting compared to the chiseled faces of the 2's big brothers. We'll concede that the folded magazine page may have something to do with it, however.
The next-generation 2 should adhere to Mazda's Skyactiv philosophy, which means we can expect a highly efficient four-cylinder engine, although it's impossible to say if Mazda will do away with its smallest offering's one-engine strategy. Considering the Mazda2 will be riding on a shortened version of the CX-5's platform, we'd expect some degree of mechanical parts sharing, regardless of how much the larger platform needs trimmed. Perhaps a detuned version of the 2.0-liter, Skyactiv four-cylinder could be under the 2's hood?
2021 Mazda3 2.5 Turbo is official, with automatic transmission only
Wed, Jul 8 2020The Mazda3 Turbo is here, and while it’s no Mazdaspeed, this is still a happy day for enthusiasts. Its full, official name is the 2021 Mazda3 2.5 Turbo, which begins to describe it perfectly. Just as was expected, Mazda has taken its 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder off its shelf and plopped it into the compact 3. When run on 93 octane fuel, Mazda claims 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. You can still run it on 87 octane, but the numbers drop to 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Mazda says this engine has a specific calibration for the Mazda3 “to deliver the unique driving dynamics expected by our most passionate drivers.” The engine delivers a stout low-end shove in its other applications, so perhaps Mazda has found a way to make it more excitable in the upper rev ranges. WeÂ’ll see about that when we drive it. The Turbo is also paired exclusively with all-wheel drive and the six-speed automatic transmission. It is sad to see the six-speed manual being left in the dust here, but Mazda has decided to not offer it as an option. The all-wheel drive system operates the same as the one in the naturally aspirated version, which should hopefully be good enough to mitigate torque steer and understeer. Mazda hasnÂ’t quoted any official acceleration times for the Turbo yet, but we expect it could chop about a second off the carÂ’s 0-60 mph time. Something in the low 6-second range seems plausible. There are no changes to the chassis, suspension or brakes for this model; Mazda says "the current Mazda3, as well as all our vehicles, are always designed and tuned to be focused on dynamic driving. We are confident that the turbo engine will help to refine the already exciting driving experience without the need to add more than is necessary." It does come in a base trim (similar to a base hatchback in content), but even that trim is relatively well-equipped. A Premium Plus Package is available that raises the bar. This package includes leather seats, navigation, HomeLink, Traffic Jam Assist (provides steering inputs below 40 mph to stay in lane), 360-degree camera, rear automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic braking and parking sensors in front and back. Unfortunately, the new driver assistance features we listed above are exclusive to the Turbo and wonÂ’t be available on other Mazda3 models this year.
