383 sb Chevy with 6 inch rods, AFR Aluminum Heads, Comp Cam with gear drive, 650 Holly Carb, Aluminum Intake, Radiator and Water Pump, 2 1/2 inch Exhaust with Lake's Pipes.

Electric fuel pump, cooling fans, tach and Speedo.

Rebuilt 700 R4 Transmission.

92 T-Bird Rear End  with Posi-traction which includes the larger T-Bird CV joints.

17inch Alloy Wheels with BF Goodrich radial tires.

Fully adjustable coil over shocks..

Disk brakes front and back, 11 inch rotors front.

Car weight 2400 lbs, 1300/1100 f/r.

This project was begun 6 years ago with 104,000 miles.  The car was completely disassembled, all ball joints, bushings, etc were replaced with new parts.

The body, including doors, hood and truck lid were cleaned, primed and painted 2006 Miata silver.

The car was then reassembled and the suspensions was computer aligned.

The fit and function of all doors, trunk lid and hood are excellent.

The top is very good, but the rear window zipper is broken, I haven't bothered to fix as I only drive in good weather.

I consider this car a very fine driver.  I have had the car up to 120 mph a couple of  times but have never raced it (I'm 74 years old).

I have gotten involved in other projects the last couple of years and would like to sell the Miata and put the money toward my 1963 Nova.  I have to admit it,but it has gotten somewhat difficult for me to get in and out of the Miata..

I'll gladly answer any question because I am sure I have forgotten some information or left something out.

R&T chases down a burglar in the million-mile Miata

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

Is the answer always Mazda Miata? We discussed this in passing on the Autoblog Podcast earlier this week, and most assuredly the answer is "no." For example, the little MX-5 would be a terrible people carrier, and it'd be useless off road. You can't really tow anything of substance with it, either. Still, if push came to shove, it's satisfying to know that the diminutive roadster could eke out a career as a chase vehicle for the police.
That fact was proven when Road & Track editor Chris Cantle did something that he himself recognizes as "stupid." Upon returning home, Cantle discovered a "twenty-something" actively burgling his home. The resulting story is easily one of the more entertaining episodes to come out of the 1990 MX-5's service to the team at R&T and, we're guessing, will be one of the highlights of the Million-Mile Miata challenge.
Be sure to head over to Road & Track for a full retelling of the chase from Cantle, as well as a follow-up on the saga.

Mazda poaches designer Kevin Rice back from BMW

Wed, 30 Oct 2013

Kevin Rice left Mazda a baker's dozen years ago, but now he's back.
A graduate of the Transportation Design program at Coventry University (just across town from Jaguar headquarters), Rice worked his way up in the industry working for the likes of Opel and Italdesign Giugiaro before landing a job at Mazda. Between 1995 and 2000, he collaborated on such projects as the RX-8 and the 1999 Neospace concept that previewed the Mazda2 before moving on to BMW, where the new 3 Series and 4 Series were among the last projects he worked on during his 13-year tenure in Munich.
Now back at Mazda, Rice has been named the Japanese automaker's new creative director, charged with further honing the brand's KODO design language from its European headquarters in Oberursel, Germany. We're looking forward to seeing what he and his design team come up with in the coming years.

Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands
