Up for auction is this ONE OWNER, Rare, 2004 Mazda Miata Turbo (MX5.) Rare Turbo charged version, 6-speed manual!!!!! The Miata belongs to a very good friend, who purchased it brand new, back in 2004. He is a filming director, doing commercials and trailers. The Miata was becoming too small for him carrying recording equipment etc every single day. He wasn't really ready to part with it just yet, but when I let him borrow a Mercedes, he instantly became hooked. Along with the Miata he handed me a thick folder containing service and repair records. It's way too many for me to go through and list here. What I can tell you is, we at Autobahn Auto started servicing the Miata when we first met 3 years ago. Since then we performed a few repairs such as new Alternator, Battery, a new fog light and lots of oil changes. All previous service and repairs had been done by Mazda dealerships and other places he traveled to film. I was asked to use my expertise and sell the Miata for him, so any questions you may have just ask me.
To get the Miata sales ready we had the car detailed. We also refurbished the headlights by using a technique only we do at Autobahn Auto. So no auto-parts store kits were used to redo the headlights. They were water sanded and clear coated with several layers. Then they were buffed. They will look like new 2 years ++++.
The Miata has a few minor flaws which I will explain to the best of my knowledge. Some years ago the left side was keyed and needed to be repainted. It was done by a Mazda dealership and most of the paint matches except the trunk lid at the time had suffered some fading due to age. I tried my best showing this in the photos, but it's really not too noticeable until you're standing two feet away. The other issue is the driver seat needs to upholstery. The bottom cushion is heavily cracked as you can see in the photo. That's the reason I left the seat cover on that seat. The check engine light is on and the code is the Oxygen sensor.

Otherwise the Miata looks great and she runs and drives AWESOME!. The AC is freezing cold and the heat will run you out of the car. Power door locks work as they should and so are all the other controls. The vinyl top was replaced just 2 years ago!!    




 


If I get a reasonable offer before the auction ends I will cancel all bids and sell the car. It is also for sale on our lot. If this is something you're interested in, don't wait for the auction because many of my listed cars sell before the actual auction ends!!!

Feds investigating 2010-11 Mazda CX-9 CUVs over braking issues

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating 62,000, 2010-2011 Mazda CX-9 models over brake problems. The government safety watchdog says it has received seven complaints of an observed loss of power braking power to stop the crossover, according to the The Detroit News.
The NHTSA complaints say that the problem causes a hard pedal, increased braking effort and reduced braking effectiveness. Some complaints allege that they hear a hissing noise during braking similar to the sound of air leaving the tires. No injuries or crashes have been reported.
"As always, we are fully cooperating with NHTSA on their investigation. We cannot comment further at this time," said Mazda spokesperson Tamara Mlynarczyk to The Detroit News.

General Motors is laying out some serious green to maintain the Chevy Corvette's expansive color palette. The automaker is breaking ground on a new paint shop this summer that's part of a $439-million investment to upgrade the 34-year-old Bowling Green, KY, factory that builds the Stingray. The massive new structure will total 450,000 square feet, nearly half the size of the current 1-million square-foot facility. Construction is expected to take two years and won't impact Corvette production. The upgrades include new robots that save paint and create a better finish, longer, more efficient ovens to bake in the finish, and LED lighting. There's also a dry scrubbing booth technology with a limestone handling system that eliminates waste. GM has invested $135 million in the factory in last four years for the changeover to build the C7 and to relocate its Performance Build Center to Bowling Green. The improvements continue to modernize the Kentucky factory, which has become a tourist attraction in its own right, as more than 56,000 enthusiasts visited it last year. The upgrades are part of a $5.4-billion investment GM confirmed in April that will remake its US footprint in the next three years. The Bowling Green expansion underscores GM's continued commitment to the Corvette, which sold nearly 38,000 copies around the world last year, an eight-year high. "With this major technology investment, we can continue to exceed the expectations of sports car buyers for years to come," North American manufacturing manager Arvin Jones said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Takata recall hits 34 million vehicles The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration expanded the Takata airbag recall to an almost unthinkable 34 million vehicles on Tuesday. The recall is part of an agreement reached by the two sides where Takata admitted some of its airbag inflators have a defect, and the deal compels the company to comply with all future regulatory actions and investigations. Takata's airbag inflators were produced with "a propellant that can degrade over time" and lead to ruptures, NHTSA said. Six deaths have been attributed to the flaw worldwide. Investigations conducted by Takata, automakers, and others have not determined the exact cause of the inflator problem, but NHTSA said moisture appears to alter the propellant's chemical structure. It then ignites too rapidly, creates too much pressure that ruptures the inflator, and blasts shards of metal at passengers.

Miata is always the answer, but not always the best one

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a surprisingly versatile car. Not only is it hilariously fun on back roads and closed courses, it can also be a decent daily driver thanks to its solid gas mileage and usable trunk. But, it doesn't excel in every driving situation. Specifically long trips at high speeds, and those involving canine companions. This weekend, I did a roughly 500-mile round trip to my parents' home in Indiana to pick up my recently adopted dog. The trip was 90-percent highways, and I heard every single mile. Our MX-5 Miata Club has the minimally insulated top also found on the base level trim, and at highway speeds the wind and road noise fills the cabin with a loud, steady roar. This likely won't be a problem for fans of white noise, and it can be overcome by the stereo. However, over a few hundred miles, it starts to get old. The suspension, while superb for carving corners, also gets tiresome. On rough Rust Belt highways, it would become a bit overwhelmed, and the whole car would shiver and shake. On the plus side, nothing squeaked, rattled, or fell off in these instances. There are a few other quirks that show up on long trips. The small pedal box and floor-mounted throttle means that there isn't a particularly comfortable place to rest your right foot when the cruise control is set. Neither the door nor the center console have much padding either, so leaning your knees against them for long periods of time isn't advisable. The good news is that the seat itself was surprisingly comfortable, and never once was I feeling any back pain. Plus, when not using the cruise control, the seating position is great, allowing me to stretch out and relax. When I picked up my four-legged compatriot (a 7-year-old mix of unknown breeds named Ruby, pictured above), things became a tad tight. Standing up, she thoroughly filled the passenger compartment. For reference, she's a little over 50 pounds and stands a little more than 2 feet tall. Much bigger dogs, like my family's coonhound and German shepherd mix, won't really fit. This also made her prone to nearly face-planting on the dashboard anytime the car slowed down. She eventually figured out that simply curling up on the seat bottom was the best choice, and then slept for most of the trip. So it worked out, but I think I may have found the limit of a Miata's dog capacity. Would any of this make me want a Miata less? Certainly not. That is if I had a second car.
