I bought this car to be a track car but never got around to tracking it I now must sell it to make room for another project.  Overall the car is in good shape but it does have a few small things wrong with it.  The previous owner managed to get scratches and chips on just about every body panel, some can be compounded out, but if you wanted it perfect the car would probably need a respray.  The passenger side headlight housing also came two cracked mounts, I just wedged a small piece of wood I had lying around to keep it from moving and never got around to replacing it, admittedly that is pretty cheese ball, but it worked .  Also the soft top was looking pretty beat when I got it, no damage, just needds a good cleaning. I just pulled it from the car and it has sat in my garage ever since, it should still work but needs the hardware for installation.  Otherwise it drives great and is a super fun car.  It is lightly modified, it has mazdaspeed miata springs with bilstein hd dampers and fm sway bars.  Hawk hps pads, around 50% remaining.  It has the aluminum shock tower brace that ties into the firewall which you can see in the picture, fm frame rail, butterfly and cannon braces, plus I replaced the wind blocker with an na cockpit brace, I am pretty sure I still have the wind blocker laying around somewhere. Drive train wise, it has an aluminum flywheel with spec clutch, installed around 60,000 miles, which caused little or no loss in driveability over stock. It has a stainless 4 in 1 header and a goodwin racing exhaust.  Tires are hankook rs-2's with about 30 to 40% tread left.  Please feel free to message me with any questions, I will do my best to answer them as quickly as possible or to schedule a time to look at the car.  If you pay my buy it now price, I will throw in a new in box master set of energy suspension poly bushings.  Vehicle is priced for a quick sale, it is not perfect, but has been well cared for since I purchased the car, regular synthetic oil changes, etc. It is a really fun car as is, and with a little work could be a real head turner.

Are you the 2016 Mazda Miata?

Mon, 11 Aug 2014

Tech nerds are spoiled. Every year, there's a new iPhone that arrives following months and months of breathless speculation and rumormongering. We car folk have a more difficult life, because vehicles with the iPhone's cult-like devotion and following, while plentiful, only receive hefty updates after several years. Case in point, the Mazda MX-5.
There's a new one coming, and much like the iPhone 6, it'll arrive in just a few weeks. So, in lockstep with the tech folk, we're anxiously biding our time and waiting with baited breath for the expected debut date of September 3. Also, like Apple fanboys, we're clamoring over any hint or teaser as to what the next-gen Miata will bring, which is why we're showing you the above image.
That is, allegedly, the new MX-5 hiding under the sheet. Auto Motor und Sport has the image, which according to World Car Fans was released by Mazda. Of course, we've reached out to the Zoom-Zoom brand for verification of its authenticity, and will be sure to update as soon as we hear back.

Top Gear recounts the fiery demise of the Mazda Furai

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

This past September we reported on Top Gear's destruction of the Mazda Furai, one of the finest concept cars to ever grace an auto show stage. It turns out that the Furai, which was burned nearly beyond recognition at the hands of the British magazine, was actually destroyed back in 2008, and that the entire thing had been covered up for five long years.
Now, a few months after publishing that heart-wrenching composite of a half-baked Furai (shown above), the lads at TG have published their account of just what resulted in a priceless concept car being transformed into a smoking hulk on a Suffolk runway. Click over to read the full story about just what happened, along with pictures of the Furai before, during and after the inferno.

2014 Mazda6 i Sport

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

In an automotive landscape dominated by platform sharing, technology exchange and any number of other cross-fertilization/cost-saving/amortization exercises, it's actually pretty rare that we get to drive a new car that is as "all-new" as this, the 2014 Mazda6. With brand-spanking new Skyactiv architecture throughout - engine, transmission, body and chassis all included - this 6 represents a new era of flexible production and cutting edge running gear for the happily lithe car company.
Our own Jonathon Ramsey did a cracking job of running the Mazda6 through its First Drive paces a few months ago, and sufficiently impressed upon us just how good looking a car this is for the midsize sedan segment. Suffice it to say, now, then, that this is easily the most interesting (and quite possibly the most beautiful) midsize sedan in the segment today. However, as Mr. Ramsey reviewed a fully contented example of the 6 - one equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission - we took advantage of Mazda's North American launch event of the car to suss out the base Mazda6 i Sport, complete with its six-speed Skyactiv manual gearbox. This may not shock you, but the stripper's pretty good, too.
