1999 Supercharged Miata Hard Top Convertible 2-door 1.8l Mazda Mx-5 Parts Or Fix on 2040-cars
Waltham, Massachusetts, United States
1999 Miata 102,450 miles FFS Fast Forward Supercharged Hard Dog Double Diagonal Roll Bar Roll Bar Pad Hard Top (but no soft top, removed for weight, as was the radio and A/C and anything else I could) Aluminum Radiator Double fans with manual switch to run either or both (auto runs as normal) Vacuum boost gage AEM wide band O2 sensor Tien Coilovers (Flex 14/9kg Springs, custom valved by 949 Racing) Torsen LSD (replaced and very good condition with low use) Flyin' Miata Happy Meal Clutch with 13.5lb flywheel (No hard launches slipping clutch and low miles on it great shape) Header, wrapped and header blanket High Flow cat Roadster Sport Exhaust Six Point Harnesses New High volume fuel pump Strut Tower brace Trailer Hitch Harness Bar Back brace SS brake lines Proportioning Brake valve Have brand new air box not installed Engine Hold down bracket Sway bar Adj sway bar end links Ctrol arm brace Mazda Sport engine mounts Short throw shifter New Coil packs, wires plugs, etc. Red hardcoat valve cover & Thermostat Cover Brand new battery Solid Diff mounts Timing belt, water pump, valve cover gasket etc... done at 96K Wheels and tires only have a couple thousand miles on them at most and look really nice. Car has no codes and passed inspection a couple months ago. More I'm sure Car is squeaky because of the heim joints, car is very stiff because of the springs. The squeeky suspension is constant... This was first and formost an autocross car. It was very fast and needs some work to be autocrossed again. It runs it starts, I drive it around no problem. Has a small dent in the right rear quarter, was there when I bought it. Car will fit 275 Hoosier A6's with suspension and wheel opening mods that have been done. Has thousands of dollars in parts on it as a parts car and if someone wants to spend I little time on, it out can be really fast again. I don't have a garage or time right now so it's time for it to go. Most of the interior has been ripped out and don't have any of it. It's not pretty and it is what it is. I figure someone will want to strip it for parts to put on another Miata or do some work and have fun with it again. I bought the car with 95K had all the mods done and hardly drove it other than autocross. Anyone interested in this car should car and chat with me, I'll tell you all about it in full detail as I want no surprises and the buyer to understand what I know about the car. I have prefect feedback and intend to keep it that way. As for how it runs: 1) After it has been running a while it idles fast but tap the pedal and it goes down to idle no problem. I figure that's the idle control valve but not sure. 2) At the autocross after a couple of runs it shuts down to idle. After the cars cools it's fine. Driving on the street it doesn't do it as you can't drive it that hard on the street. I have a couple ideas on what it is but don't have time to work on it. To me, it needs better cooling and a better air intake. But again I have no proof so it is here as is and expect to do some work if you want to drive it hard. On the street the blower kicks in fine, is fast, sounds great, although it's not that comfortable with the really stiff suspension. 3) It is not pretty, is definitely a 50 footer. There is small scratches and dings, the dent as shown in the picture. The pictures look better than in person but again from a little ways away it looks pretty good. The seats are very light and fiberglass, seat covers are faded but no rips and can be replaced.
4) Dash lights arn't working noticed tonight, haven't driven it at night in a while (will check the fuse). I have a spare parts and things not included, will put them up on ebay after this auction ends. A low miles 5 speed tranny, 15X9" wheels for race rubber and a fresh Rubella Stage II head, that has been ported, bigger exhaust valves and a small lift cam that fit this car but don't come with it. Engine would make more power and run cooler with this head... If I had time... |

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata to be revealed on September 3 [w/video]
Thu, 03 Jul 2014Now in its 25th year and on the market in its current form since 2005, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has been due for replacement for some time now. A mid-life facelift helped things along some in 2008, but the moment that roadster enthusiasts have been anxiously awaiting is almost upon us.
Mazda has now confirmed that the 2016 MX-5 will be officially unveiled on September 3 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca just ahead of the "Miatas at Mazda Raceway" event, where the Japanese automaker will also display "an array of heritage, concept and motorsports MX-5s," just as it did alongside the upcoming new roadster's Skyactiv chassis at the New York Auto Show.
Not to leave the European and Asian markets out of the fun, Mazda will simultaneously unveil the new Miata in Spain and Japan as well. But in the meantime you can view the teaser video and press release below to keep that excitement drummed up.
Mazda zooms into SEMA 2016 with lighter MX-5 Speedster and RF Kuro concepts
Tue, Oct 25 2016It's almost time for the 2016 SEMA aftermarket show again, if you haven't guessed already by the steady parade of early looks at various show cars. Mazda's MX-5 creations are generally a highlight for us, unapologetic Miata junkies that we are. This year's cars should be just as exciting as last year's, one being a revision of last year's Speedster concept and the other based on the brand new, sexy RF retractable targa top model. Both SEMA MX-5s were designed and built in-house at Mazda's Irvine design studio. This year's Speedster is somehow even lighter than before. Mazda carved 100 pounds out of it, making it a staggering 350 pounds less than a production soft top model. It's also been repainted in a color called "White Ether", which we're imagining looks something like the "Blue Ether" paintjob on last year's highly reflective Speedster minus the blue tint. Mazda will probably never sell a roofless Miata or anything this lightweight, but maybe it should. It looks like it'd be a blast to drive at a road course. And then there's the RF Kuro concept, the first RF-based SEMA show car, which is shown in the teaser above. It doesn't seem terribly extreme, to be honest. It's wearing a matte charcoal paint, which explains the "Kuro" moniker – kuro means "charcoal" in Japanese. A set of 17-inch RAYS forged wheels and MX-5 Cup suspension, and that's about it. Not to knock it; the RF is a sexy looking thing as it sits, and Cup suspension should make it handle even more like a go-kart. Of course, both concepts will be fully revealed at the show next month in Las Vegas. Stay tuned for a dose of concept Miata hotness.Related Video:
Mazda mulling furniture, designer goods in bid to command higher prices
Wed, 01 Oct 2014Brands like Porsche and Ferrari make a mint every year by selling branded lifestyle goods like shoes, hats and even wilder items. Bugatti takes things to the extremes with things like its $84,000 belt buckle. These products not only make their respective companies some extra money, but they reaffirm their high-end design aspirations to wealthy buyers. However, the next firm possibly dipping its toe into this upscale pool is a bit more mass-market - Mazda.
That's right. The Japanese automaker best known among enthusiasts for its segment-defining Miata and rotary engines is considering its own line of luxury goods in the coming years called Mazda Design. The project is the brainchild of styling boss Ikuo Maeda, and according to Automotive News, he has backing from company CEO Masamichi Kogai. Although the green light isn't quite on yet, Maeda is already brainstorming. "Not only furniture, but I'd like to build a Mazda Design brand. That's my dream," he said to Automotive News.
The possible project is just one aspect of Mazda's move to become a near-premium brand. According to Automotive News, it wants to see higher transaction prices partially by offering more stylish design than its rivals. Launching a line of luxury goods is meant to communicate this new focus to customers.
