Up for auction is a 1999 Mazda Miata.  I purchased this car a couple of months ago as a third vehicle that I thought would be fun to have with spring time coming up.  I have two kids and my wife does not like to ride it, because she says it is too small.  For these reasons I do not get to use as much as I would like so I am putting it up for sale to buy something else the whole family can enjoy.  I will give you a break down of everything on the car.

Body:  The body is in fair to good shape.  There is no rust on the body of the car or the frame of the car.  There are a few spots on the hood, trunk, and the top of the rear quarter panels where the clear coat is fading.  You can see these spots in the pictures.  There is one dent in the rear section of the bumper, also shown in the picture.  Besides that there are some minor scratches as can be expected in a car of this age, but nothing significant.  If I were to keep it I would probably pain the car just to make it look really nice but it is not a necessity.  The top on the car is in car is in very good shape with no rips or tears and it does not leak.  The picture shows a spot on the rear bumper but the bumper has since been repainted.  It has brand new tires on it with after market ICW wheels.

Interior:  The interior of the car is in fair to good shape.  It has black cloth interior.  The driver seat has three tears in it so I put the seat cover on it to prevent them from getting worse.  The passenger seat has one small wear spot next to the console that is not very noticeable.  There are no cracks in the dash or door panels.  The carpet is black and is in good shape.

Electronics:  All the electronics work on the car as they are suppose to.  The only thing that needs to be fixed is the passenger headlight bulb needs to be replaced.  The power windows work as they are suppose to.  All the gauges work and are accurate.  The interior lights all work fine.  It has the factory Mazda CD player that works good with no problems.  The check engine light is on.  I had it checked by Auto Zone and they said it was reading an EGR valve so I did not worry about fixing it.  The previous owner recent replaced the main wire harness on the car.  I just replaced the heater core so it has very hot heat now.  The A/C works but needs a charge.  I was not too worried about that because I drive with the top down anyway.

Drivetrain:  This is the best part of the car.  It has had a lot of recent work done by the previous owner and myself.  It has a great running 1.8 liter engine that puts out 140HP mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.  It has a brand new performance clutch in it and it shift great.  The previous owner recently rebuilt the top end of the motor.  I am not sure about the bottom end but it holds very good oil pressure and there are no odd sounds.  There is also a new radiator and fuel pump.  I just replaced the passenger front wheel hub.  This car only weighs 2300lbs and it will fly.  There are a lot of curves on the roads around my house and I can take them at 80MPH and it only feels like I am doing 30MPH.  The car is a blast to drive.

Just to give you an overview of all the recent work done to the car:

  1. Top end of engine rebuilt
  2. New performance clutch
  3. New main wire harness
  4. New tires
  5. New front passenger wheel bearing
  6. New fuel pump
  7. New heater core and hoses

The car runs and drives great with no problems.  I am selling it at NO RESERVE.  I do have it for sale or trade locally.  If you have any questions please feel free to email, text, or call Josh at 864-254-8572.

Mazda RX-Vision GT3 concept slinks into Gran Turismo Sport next year

Sun, Nov 24 2019

The World Final of the FIA World Tour in Gran Turismo Sport just went down in Monaco, and Mazda was there with a couple of big announcements. The first is that the Hiroshima-based automaker will become an official video game partner next year, 2020 also happening to be Mazda's centenary year. The second reveal was a sketch of the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept, a GT3-class racer based on the RX-Vision Concept shown at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Game creator Kazunori Yamauchi and Mazda's North American design chief Julien Mountousse wouldn't get into details, such as how close the final car would look to the drawing or whether there'd be a rotary engine under the hood. Yamauchi would only say Polyphony Digital is modeling the car right now, and Montousse added that designers wanted the Vision GT3 to be a car players really wanted to drive. As much of a looker as the race car is, it's clear some changes will be in order; the front fenders, roof, and rear wing are nearly on the same plane. The brunt of aero accessorizing happens down low, a massive front splitter leading to extended side sills with vertical planes, and what must be a massive rear diffuser with an even larger set of vertical planes. It's hard to tell by the drawing, but it looks like the rear wing supports angle out from the body to merge with the end plates. When the RX-Vision GT3 shows up to contest the 2020 FIA-certified championships in GT Sport, it will join the Atenza Gr.3 as Mazda's only GT3-class car in the game — the Atenza effectively a near copy of the Speed Source Mazda6 that raced in the U.S. Grand-Am series until a couple of season ago, but with four doors instead of two, and a gas engine instead of diesel. Mazda didn't qualify for the GT Sport Manufacturer's Cup this year, they'll be hoping their team can change that next year with the RX-Vision GT3 since, as Montousse said, "That car has all the Mazda spirit in it." There will be more coming from Mazda in GT Sport as well. Word is that the official partnership won't stop at a single new car, and Yamauchi remarked on the partnership, "I think we can keep our expectations high for next year." Fast forward to 17:50 in the video to see the sketch presented, or roll back a bit to 14:00 to listen to comments from Mazda global head of design Ikuo Maeda.

Mazda leads Consumer Reports' latest Brand Report Card Rankings

Thu, Feb 18 2021

The latest automaker brand report cards from Consumer Reports are in, and there are quite a few changes for 2021. At the very top of the charts sits Mazda, up three spots over last year, followed by BMW and Subaru to round out the top three. It's interesting to note that mainstream brands (non-luxury in CR-speak) don't seem to be at a disadvantage in CR's rankings, with five of the top 10 spots. In addition to Mazda in first and Subaru in third, Honda, Toyota, Chrysler, and Buick were the other high-ranking non-luxury marques. The ratings are derived from "a combination of predicted reliability, and owner satisfaction based on member surveys, and CR’s hands-on analysis" and also includes safety features and crash test scores.  At the very bottom of the list sit Mitsubishi, Land Rover and Alfa Romeo. "Our brand rankings don't just look at how models perform on our test track, but the broad picture of vehicle quality," said Jake Fisher, Senior Director of Automotive Testing at Consumer Reports. "Fortunately, consumers will find they have many options that are safe, enjoyable, and reasonably priced." The biggest jumps in the brand report card rankings come from Chrysler, Buick and Honda, which each moved up five spots compared to last year's rankings. The news wasn't nearly as good for Lincoln, which fell an alarming 15 spots this year, Genesis, which fell 13 spots, or Kia, which fell 10 spots. Related Video:

Editors' Picks March 2024: Refreshed Acura TLX, the Mazda CX-90 and more

Mon, Apr 1 2024

This month, a wide variety of body styles and powertrain propositions earn Editors' Picks status. The brand-new Mazda CX-90 has impressed us in many forms, but that comes as no surprise. The Tonale from Alfa may not be a super-hot performance SUV like the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, but it's still captured our love. And for those wishing to remain lower to the ground, the V60/V60 Cross Country bring style to the limited pie that is the wagon market. Lastly, Acura updates its TLX, and the package only gets better. In case you missed previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get an EditorsÂ’ Pick designation. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. You'll find the entire list of Editors' Picks at this link here, which we keep updated as cars are either added or dropped from the list. The vehicles youÂ’ll find below consist of every car we rated in March that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2024 Mazda CX-90 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus View 70 Photos Quick take: The driver's three-row SUV. Enthusiasts who need space should seek out the CX-90. It translates Mazda's enthusiast DNA into a people hauler. Score: 8 What it competes with: Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Chevy Traverse, Subaru Ascent, Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX-9, Kia Sorento, Buick Enclave, Nissan Pathfinder, VW Atlas Pros: Lovely to drive inline-six; premium interior; will make you forget you're driving a family hauler Cons: Limited third-row and cargo space for the segment; PHEV is rough around the edges From the editors: News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "With excellent driving dynamics, classy interiors, strong powertrains and good value, the CX-90 should be high on anyone's shopping list, whether they're looking at mainstream or upscale brands. It's a strong competitor in a big field. The available interiors put it on par with some real upscale brands. It's not perfect, but it's very good, and it's a good sign for future Mazdas." Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "There's little doubt that the CX-90 is the affordable three-row SUV for enthusiasts, and I think the inline-six is likely your best bet.
