Very well maintained 99 Miata. I am the 3rd owner and a car enthusiast. This car drives straight and smoothly balanced. Fantastic handling and real fun to drive. This car is ready for a new Miata lover. Purchased this Miata from a dealer in Vero Beach. The car looked beautiful, all original and unmolested. Front Bumper appeared repainted, but no evident damage beyond it. Front bumper and hood shows many rock chips and there are 3 small areas (quarter size) of surface corrosion, one by the gas filler, one by the passenger door and one on the front passenger side of the hood. Mechanically this car is top notch. The exterior could use a paint job. This car has spent most its life in Vero Beach Florida and now, further south at my residence in Weston Florida. I truly have enjoyed driving this fun Roadster and I have enjoyed working on it too.
Here is a specification list of options that the 10th Anniversary edition offers and a list of recent work performed on this generous Miata. 1.8 liter DOHC 16 valve inline 4-cylinder engine Sports suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers 6 Speed manual overdrive transmission Power assisted 4-wheel disc brakes Torsen limited slip differential Two tone leather bucket seats Two tone leather steering wheel Stainless scuff plates Tweeter speakers Bose audio system Fog lights 10th Anniversary badging on left front fender Cruise control Blue cloth soft top with detachable boot Front strut tower brace Front air dams, side sills and rear mud guards Power mirrors Power antenna Power windows RECENT WORK PERFORMED: Jan/2013 Replaced the following: Valve Cover Gasket, Front Crankshaft Seal, Timing Belt, Water Pump, Belt Tensioner and Idler Pulley, Front Cam Shaft Seals, Thermostat, Radiator Hoses, Engine Air Intake Filter, Serviced Radiator, Changed Eng. Mazda MX-5 GT gets green light
Fri, 18 Oct 2013The Mazda MX-5 Miata is as popular around the Autoblog offices as Kate Upton posters are around fraternity houses. Few staffers have much criticism for Mazda's ubiquitous roadster, and fewer still aren't overjoyed when one arrives in their driveway. So you can imagine how a report from Auto Express about a more potent MX-5 model is going over in our offices today.
The new model, which was shown in concept form as the Mazda MX-5 GT at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, has a slight catch, though. First, we have absolutely no idea if Mazda will bring the MX-5 GT to the US. Secondly, and perhaps more problematically, this isn't a production car - it's a kit from the team at Jota Sport.
Now, to be fair, the kit doesn't sound like a bad thing. It bumps the UK-spec 2.0-liter, 157-horsepower engine up to 203 hp thanks to a sports exhaust and a revamped ECU (46 horsepower from an ECU and exhaust in a naturally aspirated car?). To make the little Miata even more agile, Jota has also fiddled with the suspension. AE doesn't mention things like the grippy tires or Recaro seats that were found on the concept, though.
Toyota, Mazda drop Takata as Mitsubishi, Subaru weigh options
Sat, Nov 7 2015It's not a very good time to be Takata right now. Fresh on the heels of longtime partner Honda ditching them, Toyota and Mazda have both come out and said they will not use the company's airbag inflators if they continue to rely on ammonium nitrate. Bloomberg reports that Subaru and Mitsubishi are also contemplating a divorce. "The inflator using ammonium nitrate produced by Takata will not be adopted by Toyota," President Akio Toyoda said during a briefing today. "What's most important above anything else is the safety and peace of mind of customers." Mazda echoed that position, simply saying it "will not use Takata airbag inflators which contain ammonium nitrate in our new cars." When you lose three huge OEM accounts in as many days, it's certainly going to have a deleterious effect on your fortunes. In Takata's case, that's meant a staggering 39-percent drop in their share price over the last three days. Yesterday alone, the company saw a 6.2-percent fall, Bloomberg reports. As the business publication reports, though, Takata isn't going down without a fight. The company is "considering some plans to survive," including a fundraising plan that will see it potentially offer up additional shares for sale. Still, at least one analyst doesn't see whatever company survives staying involved in the airbag inflator business. "I really don't see how they're going to be able to survive as an inflator manufacturer," Valient Market Research founder Scott Upham told Bloomberg. "When your major clients publicly come out and say that they're not going to use your products anymore, it makes this very difficult to sustain your business." Reminder: Come hang out with Autoblog and the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata on Tuesday, May 19
Fri, May 15 2015Do you love chilidogs, French fries, meeting new friends, and the world's most popular convertible? Do you live in Southeast Michigan? Do you like lists of questions? If you answered "yes" to any but the last of those, we'd like to invite you to a little get-together we're hosting next week. Driving impressions are still under embargo for the US-spec 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, but somehow we've conned convinced company PR reps to show the car to you, Joe Public Autoblog Reader. We're enthused about telling you more about the ND Miata, but before we do we'd love to share a Coke and talk about cars. Here's the skinny. A group of Autobloggers will be hanging out at the Athens Coney Island, in Royal Oak, MI, next Tuesday, May 19. We'll have the car on display from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and we'd love to see you. If you're a Miata owner, we'd also love to for you to bring your car along for the party. The more convertibles the better (just be prepared to have your picture taken). Go ahead and set your navi for Athens – 32657 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, MI 48073 – and we'll look forward to seeing you Tuesday. Mazda Geeks unite. Related Video:
