1991 Mazda Miata MX-5

1991 Mazda Miata - PA Reconstructed flood Title. I picked this Miata up last year at a local salvage auction. I personally walk the entire lot of 600 cars every Thursday to find the best of the lot. Usually I find about 10 cars out of 600 that I believe are repairable and worth fixing. This car started as a low fresh water flood, with water level reaching up about 1" above the rocker panel (see pictures). Luckily there is not much wiring located low on these cars other than the ecu which was easily replaced. Next I completely go over the entire car to determine if it needs other parts to pass inspection. I have over 20 years experience with 12 volt automotive electronics. I specifically target LOW flood vehicles for rebuilding.

Here is a list of all the NEW parts I just installed.

Clutch, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, flywheel cut, new ceramic brake pads with cross drilled rotors, all 4 brake calipers, new battery, All fluids changed, All Exhaust except catalytic converter - downpipe/midpipe/muffler/tailpipe.

Tires have 85% tread. The car runs and drives great. It has factory power windows, cruise control, aftermarket alarm system with keyless entry, cold AC. Top is still in decent shape, probably has a few years left on it. I replaced plastic bezel around the radio and HVAC with a new aftermarket one due to dry rot.  Car was recently repainted by previous owner and shows very well.

Before a Salvage car is allowed to be put back on the road it must go through a Enhanced Pennsylvania inspection. This determines that the car was properly repaired. Next I run the car through the standard PA inspection process. It easily passed and will have a new PA inspection stickers right before purchase for PA buyers. Mileage shows 89,000 miles but is exempt on title.

Miata is located in Perkasie, PA 18944 Please email me to set up appointment to drive the car.

Mazda3 successor due in dealers this fall

Sat, 23 Mar 2013

Following exciting new models like the 2013 CX-5 and 2014 Mazda6, Mazda is getting ready to introduce the next generation of its high-volume compact, the Mazda3. After talking to several of Mazda's dealers, Automotive News is reporting that the automaker is planning to introduce its new compact this fall, which is earlier than what was originally reported.
Aside from what we've seen in recent spy shots and what appeared to be a full-scale design mockup back in October, there is little information about the third-generation 3, but we can see that the car will get plenty of cues from Mazda's stylish Kodo design language, and we expect even more technologies from the company's SkyActiv efficiency program to come to bear. AN says that Mazda is hoping to top 300,000 sales this year in the US, and the sooner Mazda can replace the current aging 3, the better chances it has at reaching that goal.

Mazda goes on engineer hiring binge as recovery picks up speed

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Japan's larger automakers - companies like Toyota, Honda and Nissan - have tremendous engineering talent at their disposal. That's largely because, selling as many cars as they do, they've got more revenues to tap into. Logic might dictate, then, that smaller automakers like Mazda, which no longer has the deep pockets afforded to it by its former partnership with Ford, might have less of a budget and workforce for engineering. But Mazda has been raking in record profits, and it plans on cashing those revenues in by hiring a substantial new pool of engineers.
According to Automotive News, Mazda is preparing to hire as many as 185 new engineers over the next two years - almost four times as many as the 50 engineers it previously targeted. Many of those engineers will be put to work developing the second-generation, Skyactiv 2 technologies that are on the drawing board while the first round of Skyactiv features are still being rolled out.
The boost in recruitment is enabled by a positive fiscal year that ended last March, marking the first profits Mazda had logged in four years. Sources anticipate that the fiscal year culminating at the end of this month will mark the company's most profitable yet, netting over a billion dollars to eclipse the fiscal year that ended in 2008 when it recorded $872.5 million in profits.

Next Mazda MX-5 Miata to weigh a ton(ne), literally

Wed, 27 Nov 2013

Looking at recent spy shots of the fourth-generation Mazda Miata, it's obvious this sporty little roadster will grow in size compared to the current model, but it's also going on a diet. At the Tokyo Motor Show, Auto Motor und Sport sat down with Mazda executive Kiyoshi Fujiwara, who gave a little more insight into the Miata's redesign.
Fujiwara said that they're aiming for a curb weight of a tonne (metric ton), which is 1,000 kilograms or right around 2,200 pounds, for the next-generation Miata. This would make the roadster at least 300 pounds lighter than the current NC Miata, but still about 200 pounds heavier than the original NA.
There is no indication as to how Mazda will go about removing that much weight from the bigger car, but with as popular as the power retractable hard top (PHRT) model is on the current car, the new Miata may ditch this feature to lose its weight. Improving the power-to-weight ratio appears to be a key goal of the Mazda team, so we also wouldn't be surprised to see a more powerful engine underneath the longer hood.
