Here is a great little truck that was a great show truck a couple years ago. We bought this truck as a show piece for the front of out dealership, it got us a lot of attention, but now it's time to let it go. I have included some original pictures and recent pictures. It does need some work to get it back to where it was, or it's a great starting point to do something totally different, all the hard word and money has already been done and spent. Starting with a '90 Mazda B2200 for most of us would be good enough - not for Cody. The $1,300 price tag unfortunately reflected the personality of the Mazda. Five years and $30,000 was enough to buy a new reflection. No respectable mini-trucker would keep his vehicle at stock height. Cody grabbed a set of 20-inch Enkei ME2s in chrome dressing, and proceeded to lay the Mazda flat. A bridge-notch, chrome FBI four-link, Firestone airbags, Belltech suspension components, and Cody's mad skills were the only ingredients needed to make this happen. With the frame looking unfinished, Cody filled the holes and smoothed the undercarriage in preparation for a glossy finish. As Cody was proud owner of an '03 Toyota Tacoma front end and it needed a new home, the Mazda graciously accepted the offering. With the conversion turning out flawlessly, the rest of the body was shaved smooth, including a tailgate-skin combo with an angled license plate box. Mike's Body Shop, also in Houma, was called into service to perform the final body preparation, as to not taint the House of Kolor's Cobalt Blue laid down by Mike Valdez. With more time and money at the ready, the interior received its share of custom work. White leather, Gucci, and clear vinyl find solace together covering the interior. A smoothed dash was painted to match the white leather on the seats and custom center console. A six-pack of Boss 6x9-inch speakers blast into the back of Cody's head, powered by a 400-watt Eclipse amplifier. Two 15-inch Digital Audio subwoofers help complement the low side of the madness. Next time you're building a ride, just remember what Cody has earned the right to know: You have to love to blow money and not be scared to do anything on your custom. Listen to the voices in your head that drive you to do the insane and unheard of. If all else fails, use Cody's motivation: Haters made him do it. The Lowdown Suspension/Chassis Bridge notch / Belltech Toyota 3-inch drop spindles / Belltech 2-inch drop control arms / 2,500-pound Firestone airbags / shaved frame / FBI chrome four-link / painted air tank / painted compressor / 1/2-inch Parker solenoids / all work by Final Destination Customs Body Modifications '03 Toyota Tacoma front end / shaved gas door / gas door relocated to bed / smoothed-out bed floor / FBI tailgate skin combo with angled license plate box Paint Painted House of Kolor Cobalt Blue / ghost emblem on hood by Mike Valdez / paint by Mike's Body Shop in Houma, Louisiana Interior Shaved dash / working air conditioner / white leather, clear vinyl, and Gucci seats / flame foot pedals / billet rearview mirror / billet door handles / billet window cranks / custom door panels wrapped in leather and vinyl Stereo JVC CD player / Pyle equalizer / 400-watt Eclipse amplifier / six 6x9-inch Boss Audio three-ways / 1,000-watt Autotech amplifier / two 15-inch Digital Audio subwoofers in custom enclosure by Joe Fox / 13-inch Pyle flip-down LCD monitor / PlayStation 2 installed in glovebox / 15-inch Colorado Custom flame steering wheel Engine/Performance Chrome valve cover / polished-aluminum fender tubs / polished-aluminum radiator / driveshaft shortened 2 inches / driveshaft mated to four-speed Toyota rearend / Pacesetter header / Sonic Boom racing muffler / Optima battery / 8mm plug wires Special Thanks Cody's boys in Unknown Destination / anyone else who helped; you know who you are Read more: http://www.minitruckinweb.com/features/mazda/0509mt_custom_1990_mazda_b2200/#ixzz2moOKfnkM |

Goodbye Zoom-Zoom, Driving Matters is Mazda's new slogan [w/video]
Thu, May 21 2015Timed with the launch of the 2016 MX-5 Miata, Mazda is now changing gears with its advertising strategy in the US by launching a whole new slogan. The Japanese brand's latest marketing motto takes a much more direct approach than Zoom-Zoom by simply saying Driving Matters. The two-word phrase is meant to make customers believe that a good time behind the wheel can improve their lives. Driving Matters is also supposed to say something about how Mazda engineers vehicles. "Whether it's for safety purposes or for maintaining our 'fun to drive' nature, it all comes down to the fact that driving matters to our customers and it matters to us." Russell Wager, vice president of marketing at Mazda North American Operations, said in the announcement of the new campaign. However, Zoom-Zoom isn't entirely dead, and the words still appear in small print in some of these spots. According to Wager in an interview with Automotive News, the old slogan isn't necessarily understandable to some focus groups. "I'll ask them to explain to me what 'Zoom Zoom' means, and I'll get 6 or 7 different answers. That's what Driving Matters is supposed to address. It's supposed to solidify what 'Zoom Zoom' means to people," he said. So far, the company has released several examples of the campaign to highlight the Miata and Mazda6. At the same time, Mazda is launching a new commercial (embedded below) called A Driver's Life that showcases many of its models but puts a big emphasis on the MX-5. Mazda Launches All-New Advertising Campaign, "Driving Matters" - New Campaign Communicates How the Joy of Driving Can Enhance Your Life - IRVINE, Calif. (May 21, 2015) –The Oxford Dictionary defines "driving" as, "operating and controlling the direction and speed of a motor vehicle." Mazda believes that driving is more than a definition. Driving is an experience that can enhance your life. To better illustrate how every Mazda vehicle embodies why "Driving Matters," today Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) is rolling out a new advertising campaign. Driving Matters is an evolution of the Game Changers campaign. With Game Changers, Mazda succeeded in increasing consumer awareness of the functional attributes of our vehicles. Driving Matters will extend the message by creating an emotional connection to the brand.

Flyin' Miata is building a V8-powered MX-5 ND
Fri, Jan 8 2016It's cold in many parts of the country, but this V8-swapped 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata that Flyin' Miata is developing has us dreaming about throwing on a parka and taking a very brisk drive. This beast is the product of the talented folks at Flyin' Miata, but we can't get too excited just yet. According to the company's brief Facebook post, this is just a dummy V8, placed under the Miata's hood to confirm fit. Judging by the photo, the engine fits like a glove. "There's still a long way to go before this is a real thing," Flyin' Miata writes, but the company admits everything looks "very promising" so far. The post doesn't mention any details about the estimated specs, but Autoblog reached out to Flyin' Miata for more information about this intriguing build. Keith Tanner, one of the mad scientists who shoehorns V8s into Miatas at the Colorado outfit, told us that Flyin' Miata is looking at both the LS3, which will provide between 430 and 525 hp, and the LT1 which is 460 hp out of the box. A supercharged LT4 is also being considered, but as Tanner put it, "that might be a little nuts" in a car as light as the ND. In any of these engine configurations, Tanner estimates the V8-swapped ND should comfortably be a sub-4 second to 60 mph car. The transmission will be a Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual. The suspension, brakes, fuel system, cooling system, and the chassis itself will all be beefed up to handle the power, as per normal FM practice. The one question mark is the rear end, as the ND's existing one simply won't be up to the task of putting that much horsepower to the ground. The 2016 Miata was one of the best cars we drove in 2015, but Flyin' Miata knows how to turn a standard MX-5 into an absolute hotrod with the company's LS3 V8 conversions for earlier models. Imagining the more modern chassis from the latest generation with a massive dollop of more power is an exciting thought. We can't wait to see how this project turns out. Related Video:
