1962 MGA Roadster.  Original mileage.  Numbers match.  Very original.  History back to 1980.

I purchased the MGA, Mark II in 2003 from a guy out of Victoria, British Columbia.  I registered it in 2003, but only drove it about 500 hundred miles before storing it in my warehouse.  It was cleared in to the United States at Sumas, Washington, and has all of the proper import documentation (ie. Form #7501).  The MGA is at my house in Palm Springs, California.

I have the British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate (copy attached); originally shipped to the US.

I have spent the last 6 weeks tearing it down and re-furbishing the usual parts.  This is the 7th MGA that I have owned over the years, so I am pretty adept at working on them.

I will try to explain in a fair amount of detail, the pluses and minus of the car .........

Anyway, it runs very well !  The car has most of its' original parts.  I replaced or re-furbished the following:  head, carbs, wiring harness (original one was "OK", but had a bunch of funky wiring, so I chose to replace it, rather than find all of the gremlins).  Block was sound and was re-built somewhere along the line.  The pistons are MOWAG with a diamond shaped "2" stamped on top (20/1000 over bore, I assume). Picture attached.  The radiator is original with the tag "ARA 130 / 5 62 ....... ie. May 1962).  Carbs are original.  Distributor is not, as it does not have the screw in lead.  Heater box was cleaned and painted.  All gauges are original.  The interior is an excellent replica ....... circa about 1980.  Leather with white piping.  Carpet is about 25 years old and show no signs of wear.

Paint is the original Old English White.  The re-spray was done in June, 1990 (have receipt), and unfortunately, the piping was painted over (hate that ! )  Overall, I would call the paint "good from 10 feet away".  A couple of little scraps on it, and one dent that was repaired poorly on the front drivers' side fender.

The bumpers are original and in average condition.  The rear luggage rack is one of those Amco ones from the 1970s.  All other chrome is pretty good.  I did replace the grill, but have the original, which is in average condition.  The convertible top frame was re-furbished by the previous owner and looks good (picture attached).  I have a new convertible top, but have not installed it (I live in Palm Springs).  The side curtains are in average condition.  The tonneau cover is old, but still fits.  Zipper is questionable.

I re-built the master cylinder, slave cylinder, brake cylinders.  The rear brake shoes are good as are the front pads.  The front rotors are true, but pretty thin.

I replaced the front running lights (have originals) and re-built the rear lights and replaced the brake switch.

The dash is original.  I replaced  all of the dash knobs.  Also replaced the starter switch and put in new choke and throttle cables.

I replaced the generator and starter, but again have the originals.  Also replaced the voltage regulator.  Positive ground.

Put in new batteries and original style fuel pump.  I put in a new stainless steel exhaust system.

I have an Appraisal of the MGA from July 2, 1981 from "Autohaus Victoria Ltd".  It had 61,150 "original miles" back then.  The appraisal states the car was "original and in excellent condition".  The car is also registered with the MGA Registry (Tag #1657), but I have not been able to get any information from them (still trying, and will post any information if they ever return my e-mails).

Underneath, the frame is straight and rust free.  The out riggers under the sills are covered in black undercoating and probably need replacing at some point.  I took the gas tank out and cleaned it and the boot floor was in good condition.  Wood flooring is good and the sheet metal average. One battery box was replaced, but not by me.   The leaf springs and shocks appear original and in good condition (fluid changed).  The front bushings and rack appear good.  Steering is fine.  Tires are radials and are in good condition.  I have the original Owner's Manual (fair condition).

Steering Wheel is original (telescopic) and in average condition.  I replaced the turn signal switch, but am still looking for the dash indicator holder (missing when I bought it).

I have a brand new cover for it (from Rimmer Brothers ....... great quality).

All funds and payments USD, unless otherwise agreed.
