I am selling my 06 Lotus Exige with 20,871 miles as of today. Car is finished in Solar Yellow.

Options and extras include Lotus Track Pack, Traction Control, Lotus Sport ECU, Lotus Stage II exhaust, Personal F1 Alcantara steering wheel & quick-release hub kit, Pagid Brake Pads, Sector 111 lightweight battery kit & mount, Schroth 5-Point harness, Sector 111 Roll Bar, Sector 111 fire extinguisher, Sector 111 front & rear tow hooks, Mesh Grille set, back-up camera wired to JCV Kameleon Head Unit, Prem. Audio Pack, and Factory Starshield. Car has new Yokohama AO48 LTS tyres (in last 1,000 miles) along with a full service.

Have extensive receipts since vehicle production. Car was originally sold in Michigan at Auto Europe. Afterwards it lived in Mankato, Minnesota--where I found it. The car was in for service with the original owner, parked up to a wall, and was backed into by a porter. Both front and rear clams had cracked. Cost of labour to replace both fiberglass clams was huge. As a result it received a salvaged title. However, both front and rear clams and components latch to them were replaced at Auto Europe with new factory painted Lotus clams. It was a bodywork issue exclusively; the aluminum was unaffected. I have all receipts. The car is essentially new underneath with such low mileage. Mechanically it is beautiful. Drives perfectly and has never given me an issue. This is the ultimate canyon car.

Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements. Car is in Pasadena, CA (I'm from ND originally if you're wondering about the plates). A $500 deposit is due 24 hours after the auction's close. Contact me if you have any questions. Happy to send pictures of anything else you might want. Thanks and best of luck bidding!

The exotic '80s: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus and the Porsche 959

Thu, Apr 9 2015

There's no secret that we are big fans of the MotorWeek Retro Review series around here. In an automotive world that often focuses on the latest tech and what's coming in the future, it's refreshing to take a look into the past to get a new perspective. That said, the show is really outdoing itself this time by posting a full episode from the '80s to YouTube, complete with the original, jazzy opening. The video is an absolute standout, too, with drives of some of the best supercars that Europe could offer at the time. Among the now classic sportscars that MotorWeek got to drive are the Ferrari 328, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Lamborghini Jalpa and Autokraft AC Mark IV. There's even a preview that sings the praises of the tech in the Porsche 959. The episode is basically a showcase of most of the exotics from young enthusiasts' walls and school folders during the '80s and is not to be missed. Lotus Esprit all but ready to go, but held back by management issues

Mon, 26 Nov 2012

Brief and disappointing is this report from Autocar on the status of the Lotus Esprit: it is finally ready and sitting at the light, but the light might not go green for a long time. The good news is that from being a concept two years ago at the Paris Motor Show, the aluminum and carbon fiber revival coupe is "purportedly almost finished." It is powered by a twin-turbo, 5.0-liter V8 with something like 650 horsepower, boosted by a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) and shifting through a seven-speed paddleshift transmission. Even with all that, the UK price is said to be around that of a Porsche 911 4S Cabriolet, and the car only needs "signing off and minor tweaking."
The bad news is that former company owner Proton couldn't stay independent long enough to see through the company's ambitious five-concept-car assault - led by then-CEO Dany Bahar who was hired explicitly to lead such a campaign - and was swallowed up by Malaysian auto supplier DRB-Hicom. For a brief spell Lotus had to shut down production for lack of funds. Then the new owner cleaned house, sweeping out Bahar and, according to the Financial Times just one month ago, the Esprit and every other concept with it. Just after the FT piece came out, Lotus denied the Esprit had been canceled. Still, according to Autocar, the management whirlpool is keeping the Esprit "far from becoming a production reality."
If we're honest with ourselves, we'll keep in mind that the Esprit has been slipping into and out of a terminal ether for what seems like decades. None of us knows what is going on inside Hethel HQ, but the fact that there really is a lightweight, twin-turbo, 650-hp Lotus Esprit finally ready to be produced has to be, in spite of all else, very good news.

Behind the scenes of Lotus' spectacular truck-over-F1 jump

Mon, Nov 24 2014

A Lotus F1 car and the truck in which it's transported may both be powered by Renault and share a common JPS livery, but as far as size and performance are concerned, they're at opposite ends of the spectrum. So if you had to jump one over the other, you'd think it'd be a no-brainer to skip the single-seater over the tractor-trailer. Right? Well that may be the more logical conclusion, but it's not the way the Lotus team and its technology partner EMC decided to go for this latest promo. Instead they jumped the semi over the grand prix car. The stunt was obviously geared towards publicity, but while they were at it, they set a Guinness World Record for the longest truck jump at 83 feet, 7 inches. The previous record, according to Guinness, stood at 50 feet, 6 inches, and was set on MTV's Nitro Circus on November 17, 2008, by Gregg Godfrey at Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City. That record stood for six years, but (as best we can tell) was set without the trailer attached, or the F1 car tracking underneath - which only makes this latest stunt that much more impressive. You may have seen the promo clip circulating the interwebs late last week, but we've included a making-of video below as well to show how the stunt team managed to pull it all off.
