Hello:
I am selling my 1997 Lotus V8 twin turbo supercar. My Esprit is without a doubt one of the most immaculate V8 examples around, especially for the model year. Cosmetics are superb, most people think it is a new car. Mechanics are in great shape, have extensive service records, all owners have been beyond meticulous and this Esprit has definitely been maintained to the highest standards. Last owner took immaculate care and spared no expense, he lived in San Diego, CA and kept it for 7 years. I purchased car in August 2011, would keep it for years but other priorities take precedence. Has only been serviced at Symbolic Motors, Viking Motors and Lotus by Claudius since in California.  The highlights are as follows:

1. Schedule C service, new Gates blue HD belts and pulleys, about 4 mos and 1000 miles ago.
2. Royal Purple synthetic oil change, same day as installation of belts etc. Old oil was as clean as day it was changed and engine did not use a drop.
3. New low idle control module.
4. New O2 sensors, just passed California smog test with flying colors, emission readings were very low.
5. Clutch and second gear were replaced about 9.2K miles ago. I have about the nicest Renault gearbox around. Shifting is precise, syncros are great, reverse is solid with no issues.
6. Alternator was replaced upon delivery to me from Symbolic motors. New Bosch battery with lifetime warranty
7. Currently has Lotus Factory high output ECU installed (have receipt for $ 2500) and also have "Race ECU"  which might go along with purchase.
8. Lotus by Claudius "cat back custom exhaust", sounds much better than stock but does not affect smog equipment in any way.
9. Blow off valves, Labor alone was $ 1100 by Lotus by Claudius
10. Michelin Pilot tires are: front 60% but older and compound is hard, best to be replaced ($ 450 for set). Rear tires are 70 % and in great shape. Rotors are in very good condition, Newer pads and complete suspension was recently checked and nothing out of ordinary wear and tear was found
11. Alpine CD deck, IPOD connector, remote, with upgraded speakers and subwoofer in passenger floorboard, professionally installed. System sounds fantastic
12. Momo red insert steering wheel installed and factory airbag wheel included
13. Upgraded when car was new OZ Wheels Futura rims
14. Have all books, keys, toolkit, expensive hard copy of Factory service manual, Lotus OEM red wind deflector.
15. No codes, No check engine light, Lotus by Claudius tested the on board computer system with their Lotus handheld module and there are no issues of any kind.

Lastly, I am extremely picky when it comes to cosmetics on a car,  I rate the interior a strong 9.5 (only flaw is one minor scuff on driver side seating bolster, easy fix) and exterior a strong 9.4 (few tiny rock chips( about 6 total) on front end which are very small and touched up, cannot prevent this from happening) .Original Red paint looks like a 2012 with extreme gloss, no clearcoat issues,no scratches etc. Clean Carfax and Autocheck, I feel very confident if a potential buyer viewed my car in person would be more than pleased with overall condition.
In closing if you factor in all the recent preventive maintenance, newer clutch and 2nd gear, very sound mechanics and ultra clean cosmetics this is just a fantastic turn key example and a extremely well priced Esprit !!!    If you have any questions please contact me and I will be more than pleased to answer all inquiries.    Thanks

Lotus hiring 100 after securing lb100m investment

Fri, 02 Aug 2013

Lotus is getting a shot in the arm courtesy of corporate parent DRB-Hicom, which has announced a 100-million pound ($152.3M USD at today's rates) investment in the Hethel, UK-based manufacturer. The troubled brand was also in the news last week, with DRB announcing a new, three-year plan that would see variants of existing models introduced.
The money will create 100 new jobs in Hethel, with 45 new engineers, 40 manufacturing operatives and 18 university grads joining the team. Lotus has already seen an uptick in sales this year, according to a Norfolk-based news site, with 40 to 45 cars being produced per week and 722 road cars and 45 race cars sold between January and May. Even sales in the UK have seen a big jump - Lotus only moved 70 units in 2012, but it's already sold 80 cars in the first half of 2013.
Better yet, Lotus is citing an increased demand for its cars around the globe as the motive behind the new hires. While still quite uncertain, Lotus looks like it might finally be on the right track.

Lotus relocating US headquarters to Michigan

Thu, Jun 25 2015

Lotus is planning a renewed push into the North American market. It's got the new Evora 400 coming to America in December, and it's expanding its dealer network as well. And it'll orchestrate it all from its new US headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI. The move will see the main office of Lotus Cars USA leave its current base in Lawrenceville, GA, to move in together with Lotus Engineering in Ann Arbor, putting both operations under one larger roof. The transition is earmarked to be completed by the end of next month. But that's not all. Lotus has also announced that it is expanding its dealer network across North America. The first push will see four new dealerships opening across the United States and Canada, with a pair of new showrooms in California (West Covina and Thermal), another in the car-collector mecca of Scottsdale, AZ, and a new Canadian location in Calgary, Alberta. That'll bring the showroom count up to 47 locations in North America, with more franchises planned for the near future as well. The new and improved Lotus Evora 400 is slated to arrive at US and Canadian dealers starting in December. It packs a number of upgrades over the Evora S, including more power, less weight, new bodywork, and carbon-ceramic brakes. The result is a 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds, a top speed quoted at 186 miles per hour, and Hethel test track lap time clocked at six seconds faster than its predecessor. Pricing starts at $89,900. The previous model Evora already received positive acclaim from media, customers and dealers alike and reaffirmed Lotus as the maker of some of the finest, purest, most lightweight and most efficient sports cars sold today. Jean-Marc Gales, Chief Executive Officer, Group Lotus plc, explains: "The Lotus Evora 400 combines high performance with the legendary Lotus benchmark handling. It is lighter, more efficient and dynamically better than ever.

Turns out the 2020 Lotus Evora GT is one of the best sounding cars on sale

Fri, Jun 19 2020

Toyota has built plenty of engines that sound the business. We know the company has it in them, but what comes out isn’t always enthusiast-focused. Yet, hereÂ’s a fairly normal Toyota 3.5-liter V6, sitting in the middle of a Lotus. YouÂ’ll find it under the hood of a Toyota Camry, but here it is sitting under the engine cover of this 2020 Lotus Evora GT. Of course, Lotus hasnÂ’t dropped the engine in there without Lotus-fying it. This one has an Edelbrock supercharger with an integrated water-to-air charge cooler, plus a special calibration and tune from Lotus. In the Toyota, the base engine makes 301 horsepower. This Evora GT is putting out 416 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. It also breathes through a set of pipes that the Brits would call ace. Check out the video at the top to get a taste of what we heard for a week straight. Our Evora GT was equipped with the standard exhaust. ThereÂ’s an optional titanium exhaust that drops 22 pounds from the curb weight, but Lotus says that it doesnÂ’t actually sound all that different. What does make a difference in the sound is changing the drive mode. ThereÂ’s a valve that opens in the exhaust when you select Sport mode or press the exhaust button. This drastically changes the sound heard from the cabin. In normal Drive mode, the exhaust is muted and just hanging out in the background. ItÂ’s shockingly quiet, but perfect for highway cruising because the drone goes away. Sport mode completely changes the tone and unlocks a sweet wail we didnÂ’t know the Toyota V6 had within it. ThereÂ’s no computer-enhanced or synthesized noises to be heard here. ItÂ’s all real. Taking it one step further in Race mode unlocks the tiniest bit more noise, Lotus says, but itÂ’s hardly noticeable in practice. We found the best experience was in Sport mode, since that reigns in traction control, retains stability control, and boosts throttle response by a bit. 2020 Lotus Evora GT View 6 Photos Under tunnels and overpasses — and this does feel weird to say, knowing the engineÂ’s origins — thereÂ’s a hint of Formula one car sound in there. WeÂ’re talking F1 from a few years ago, not the boring turbo engines of today. The way it shrieks and screams off walls, completely immersing you in the echoing sound, is intoxicating. Very few cars can match the Evora in sound quality, and thatÂ’s impressive considering some of the noisemakers car companies put out these days.
