2004 LOTUS ESPRIT - YELLOW / BLACK - ONLY 15K MILES!!

8-CYLINDER 3.5L 350HP TWIN TURBO

It has been 10 years since Lotus ended production of their most iconic and longest produced vehicle of all time!!  Although there have been many different variations of the Esprit since 1976, it has always retained its famous wedge shaped body design.  As all things, it has been refined and changed through the years to compete with the current sports car market.  For the money the Esprit was always the good looking under dog that was loaded with power and ability!  Adapted from a 4 cylinder turbo to a V8 twin-turbo set up in 1997 this beast became a raging monster that is still one of the most under rated sports cars avaiable today.  With 350 HP to the rear wheels and 295 Ft/Lbs of torque this beast gets off the line in a big hurry (4.2 sec 0-60).  Brand new, the Final Edition cars sold for just a shade under $100,000, which was a great deal compared to its most recognized competition of the Lamborghini Gallardo (400HP) at $165k base price and a Ferrari 360 (400 HP) at $150k base price.  Now the thing you need to remeber is that the Lotus is rated at 350 HP to the rear wheels, so at the crank it puts out more like 375-380 HP.  And of course when you start to add on options to your Ferrari or Lamborghini you will see the price hit $200k and more.  So for a touch more performance, people were paying nearly double the money.  The best part is, the Esprit is far more exclusive then either of these cars.  There were only about 10,675 made since 1976 and only about 13 total for 2004.  This is a rare piece of Lotus history, and best of all it is in the true Lotus colors, Yellow/Black.

This is the final year for the Esprit and 2004 models include Eibach springs, Bilstein shocks, and adjustable spring platforms.  Updates include stainless steel grilles in front spoiler, restyled rear valence, engine builder's signature on intake plenum, diamond pattern seat stitching, shortened gear lever with brushed aluminum knob, and tire pressure monitor.

You will not find a nicer Final Edition car around.  They do not come up for sale very often, but this car was sold to one of our local customers a few years ago and after some chasing we were able to buy it back.  We are proud to offer this 2004 Final Edition Lotus Esprit for sale!!  It offers both keys, 2 tops (glass and body colored) and original books.  This car also had the OEM wheels Chrome dipped which are still in excellent condition!!  This Esprit, looks runs and drives like a car with no miles!!  It has been well kept and preserved for the owners to come.  This 2 owner Esprit is worth every penny and will be collectible for many years to come!!

Do not miss out on this fantastic piece of Lotus history!!  It will not last long!!

This Gorgeous Esprit Comes with 2 Keys, 2 Remotes and Books!!

Lotus Type 132 electric crossover spotted testing in China

Mon, Feb 14 2022

Thanks to Carscoops, we know that Weibo Chinese social media user Ductile Iron BX spotted a Lotus Type 132 prototype testing on Chinese roads. This is the vehicle that will inaugurate the English sports car maker's transition to a battery-electric future and its future as a purveyor of crossovers, the once dirty word among the light-and-simple crowd that's just too profitable to ignore. In profile, the long, low roof makes the Type 132 look more like a jacked-up Allroad-style wagon than a traditional crossover. The heavy camo can't hide the jutting tail that holds a deployable spoiler. Those regular-sized wheels look good, but they don't fill the arches that way we've come to expect from speedy SUVs; we won't be surprised if larger rims appear on the debut model, with an option for even larger rims. The treatment of the rear quarter glass, which looks like a vent, is a neat touch. We know black drapery hides other touches like an active lower grille, its hexagonal mesh peppered with panels that twirl open to provide the right combination of powertrain cooling and vehicle aerodynamics, and some kind of sensor unit rising from the roof. Nor can the camouflage hide the sharp lines throughout, from the concave front fascia to the arced rear fenders to the dramatic rear bumper. This could be a good looking start to Lotus' people-hauler era. The Type 132 is expected to debut this spring, riding on the firm's Evolution Architecture for premium vehicles and featuring 800-volt electrics and a battery with a possible 120-kilowatt capacity. Lotus has said the crossover will reach 60 miles per hour in under 3. seconds, an estimate that probably refers to the dual-motor version that might put out as much as 750 horsepower. Even though the Type 132's place in the luxury segment will see it lined up against entries like the Aston Martin DBX and Porsche Cayenne, this being the first super-sporty CUV from this OEM, it will undoubtedly spend the early part of its life thrown into battles with the Tesla Model X. Lotus wants to find its first car, built by Colin Chapman

Mon, Sep 24 2018

Lotus is looking for the first car its founder ever built. The Lotus Mark I, a trials special Colin Chapman built in a small garage in London in 1948, has been lost to history and the company has been trying to find it for ages. As Lotus is 70 this year, the first Lotus would be quite the icing on its birthday cake. Colin Chapman constructed the first Lotus in a garage that belonged to his girlfriend's parents, at the age of 20. The car was reportedly an instant competition success, but Chapman's competitive spirit meant he soon started on the car's successor, the Mark II, and sold the Mark I in November 1950 for GBP135 after advertising it in Motor Sport magazine. Both the Mark I and II were based on Austin 7 hardware, but the latter used different Ford engines while the Mark I retained an Austin 7 engine. Experiments with lightening the vehicle and developing a better suspension design were Lotus hallmarks from the very beginning, as the car needed to beat Britain's rough rally terrain and have enough grunt to climb hills. Lotus Engineering was set up in 1952, later spawning Team Lotus that started out in Formula 1 by the end of the 1950s — and the rest is history. But Lotus owes everything to the humble Mark I. "The Mark I is the holy grail of Lotus' history," Clive Chapman, Colin's son explains. "It's the first time that my father was able to put his theories for improved performance into practice when designing and building a car. To locate this landmark Lotus, as we celebrate the 70 th anniversary, would be a monumental achievement. "We want fans to take this opportunity to look in every garage, shed, barn and lock up they're allowed to," added Chapman. "It's even possible that the Mark I was shipped from the UK, and we'd love to know if it survives in another country." This means the first Lotus could even reside in the United States, if it is still in one piece. 2015 Monaco F1 Grand Prix race recap [spoilers]

Mon, May 25 2015

Lewis Hamilton came to Monaco with a new three-year deal with Mercedes-AMG Petronas and a vow to not let anything, including any "mistakes" by teammate Nico Rosberg, stand in the way of his best qualifying effort. Mercedes reportedly made it rain with a 100-million-pound deal, and Hamilton made it rain right back with his first pole position at Monaco. Rosberg did make a mistake but this time it was behind Hamilton, which meant he stuffed-up the qualifying attempts of rival drivers like Sebastian Vettel. So Rosberg starts second, 0.342 behind Hamilton but 0.449 ahead of Vettel in the Ferrari. Daniel Ricciardo thinks he should have been third, but a communication error with his engineers left him in the wrong engine setting for his final hot lap, so by the very first corner he'd lost the time he would have needed to get higher than fourth on the grid. The second Infiniti Red Bull Racing of Daniil Kvyat slots in behind him, ahead of the second Ferrari of Kimi "Not A Very Happy Day" Raikkonen, who just can't get it going lately. Sergio Perez did for the Sahara Force India what the car can't do on its own, which is grab a top-ten qualifying spot. Toro Rosso rookie Carlos Sainz had qualified eighth but missed a call to the weigh bridge, so he's been slapped into the pit lane. Pastor Maldonado in the Lotus inherits his eighth place, ahead of rookie Max Verstappen in the second Toro Rosso, and Jenson Button in the McLaren. Button only got up there because of two penalties: for Sainz, and Romain Grosjean who had qualified 11th but took a penalty for a gearbox change. Want to know how hard it is to do better on race day than in qualifying at Monaco? Even the never-say-die Fernando Alonso said, "Monte Carlo is a train of cars on Sunday, the race finishes on Saturday afternoon." Well obviously, he didn't take Max Verstappen's seek-and-destroy tactics into account. The young Dutchman had made passing look like a real option in Monaco, getting past Maldonado at St. Devote on Lap 7 after a bit of argy-bargy on Lap 6, then taking advantage of blue flags to slink past teammate Carlos Sainz and Williams driver Valtteri Bottas while hiding in Sebastian Vettel's slipstream. He tried the same move on Romain Grosjean on Lap 65, but Grosjean locked him out. Verstappen lined up the Lotus driver over the following laps, then looked like he slipped to the inside at St.
