1978 Lotus Esprit Base Coupe 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States
Here we have a 1978 Lotus Esprit S2, I have owned this car for many years but haven't had a chance to restore it yet. This beauty is complete, not butchered in anyway, original carbs, engine, engine cover, interior, etc. Its been stored in a completely dry garage under its cover.
The car needs total restoration but being an S2 will continue to rise in value. If you have been looking for a complete, stock S2 restoration project this is your car. I have a clear title for the car and its ready to go. The engine is not turning and will probably need a rebuild. The seats are shot but the rest of the interior is in shockingly good condition. The car has BRAND NEW tires on it, not junker tires but the stock size BF goodrich tires. I hate storing cars on flat tires so it was worth the investment. They cost over 700 dollars. Please note, I will add interior pictures, and more engine pictures Saturday, the car is stored away from my house. So please don't email requesting pics, just check back Saturday. I will sell this car with no reserve, but have the right to end the auction at anytime as the car is for sale locally. If you buy this car I expect payment via paypal within 12 hours of the auction ending, DO NOT bid on this car if you do not have funds in place, and your wife, girlfriend, banker is cool with it. Also since this is a no reserve auction dont bid this car to 15k and then leave negative feedback based on its condition. That just happened to me on of all things, an accordion.. To make it clear, this car needs restoration, if you wish to come see it, I am in Colorado Springs and welcome an inspection, however once you win the auction, its yours, so please arrange to look at it first if you wish. why am I selling? Well I thought I would never sell this car, but found a 308 GTB I am hot after, so this and my 89 Esprit are probably going to go, I will keep an 85 Esprit. Again, payment is due via paypal no later than 12 hours after auction ends, if you dont agree with that, or understand that please don't bid. Also I will help load it and will even store the car for a while if need be, I can fedex the title to you when auction ends if you need it stored. Please excuse the filtered pics for the auction, I just snapped these in my driveway last year. I will upload detailed pictures Saturday. |

Lotus will go public via SPAC with $5.4 billion valuation
Wed, Feb 1 2023Lotus Technology, the electric-car maker owned by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., agreed to merge with a blank-check company in a transaction that values the combined entity at about $5.4 billion. L Catterton Asia Acquisition Corp. will combine with the EV making subsidiary of the British carmaking group that Geely acquired back in 2017, the two said in a statement Tuesday. The special purpose acquisition companyÂ’s sponsor has ties to Bernard Arnault, the worldÂ’s richest man. Lotus Tech has been looking to go public since at least early last year. Management may have been encouraged by another luxury auto brandÂ’s recent listing: Porsche AG pulled off EuropeÂ’s largest initial public offering in a decade when it debuted in Frankfurt in September. A week later, Porsche overtook Volkswagen AG as EuropeÂ’s most valuable automaker. Rather than go the IPO route, Lotus Tech will merge with a SPAC whose sponsor combined with the private equity operations of ArnaultÂ’s luxury-goods powerhouse LVMH in 2016. LVMH is a passive minority investor in L Catterton, according to a spokeswoman. Arnault overtook Tesla Inc. Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk as the worldÂ’s richest man last month — the first time a European claimed the top spot on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. While Group Lotus is tiny compared to Tesla, Geely has been steering it away from combustion engines and has several all-electric models planned for the coming years. Lotus Tech sees itself as a competitor to the likes of Ferrari and Aston Martin, and will get a jump on the first electric models from those brands. Lotus unveiled its all-electric Eletre sport utility vehicle last year and plans to launch a rival to PorscheÂ’s popular Taycan EV in 2023. Geely and other owners are expected to retain an 89.7% shareholding in Lotus Tech after the SPAC merger. GeelyÂ’s billionaire owner Li Shufu also controls Swedish carmaker Volvo Car AB and owns stakes in GermanyÂ’s Mercedes-Benz Group AG and the UKÂ’s Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings Plc. Deutsche Bank AG advised Lotus Tech on the deal, while Credit Suisse Group AG acted as capital markets adviser to the SPAC. Lotus slated to stop selling Evora in US
Mon, 22 Sep 2014It's been three years now since Lotus stopped selling the Elise and Exige in North America, leaving the Evora as its only model available Stateside. But according to the latest from Car and Driver, even that model is on its way out.
The problem reportedly comes down to air bags. Lotus was granted a temporary exemption from fitting the latest-generation smart airbags to the Evora, but that exemption is set to expire at the end of the year. And once it does, Lotus apparently has no intention of developing and fitting the proper equipment to allow it to continue selling the Evora in the United States.
Once the Evora is gone from our market, Lotus will be reduced to selling only track-bound versions of the Elise and Exige in the US, so the prospect of actually buying a new Lotus and driving off the dealer lot will vanish into thin air.
Lotus Exige S tears the roof off
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Some things just don't make sense. But then we're not sure they really have to. Imagine Porsche took the Cayman, which is essentially the coupe version of the Boxster, and turned it into a convertible. Wouldn't make much sense, would it? Well that's essentially what Lotus did with the creation of the Exige S Roadster.
The Exige, you see, was already the fixed-roof version of the Elise. So what was the point in turning it back into a roadster? That's what our friends at XCar tried to ascertain in the video below. We could tell you what conclusion they arrived at, but that would spoil all the fun. So we'll just let you enjoy the seven-minute clip and see for yourself. Just remember: it doesn't have to make sense. It just has to be a Lotus.
