1978 Lotus Esprit Base Coupe 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States
|
Here we have a 1978 Lotus Esprit S2, I have owned this car for many years but haven't had a chance to restore it yet. This beauty is complete, not butchered in anyway, original carbs, engine, engine cover, interior, etc. Its been stored in a completely dry garage under its cover.
The car needs total restoration but being an S2 will continue to rise in value. If you have been looking for a complete, stock S2 restoration project this is your car. I have a clear title for the car and its ready to go. The engine is not turning and will probably need a rebuild. The seats are shot but the rest of the interior is in shockingly good condition. The car has BRAND NEW tires on it, not junker tires but the stock size BF goodrich tires. I hate storing cars on flat tires so it was worth the investment. They cost over 700 dollars. Please note, I will add interior pictures, and more engine pictures Saturday, the car is stored away from my house. So please don't email requesting pics, just check back Saturday. I will sell this car with no reserve, but have the right to end the auction at anytime as the car is for sale locally. If you buy this car I expect payment via paypal within 12 hours of the auction ending, DO NOT bid on this car if you do not have funds in place, and your wife, girlfriend, banker is cool with it. Also since this is a no reserve auction dont bid this car to 15k and then leave negative feedback based on its condition. That just happened to me on of all things, an accordion.. To make it clear, this car needs restoration, if you wish to come see it, I am in Colorado Springs and welcome an inspection, however once you win the auction, its yours, so please arrange to look at it first if you wish. why am I selling? Well I thought I would never sell this car, but found a 308 GTB I am hot after, so this and my 89 Esprit are probably going to go, I will keep an 85 Esprit. Again, payment is due via paypal no later than 12 hours after auction ends, if you dont agree with that, or understand that please don't bid. Also I will help load it and will even store the car for a while if need be, I can fedex the title to you when auction ends if you need it stored. Please excuse the filtered pics for the auction, I just snapped these in my driveway last year. I will upload detailed pictures Saturday. |

Lotus team out of Le Mans, full driver list published
Tue, 20 May 2014We can scratch off one more car from the list for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Lotus T129 LMP1 car has been dropped from the entry list of the 82nd running of the historic race, with organizers citing "a lack of preparation" as the reason. On a more positive note, the list of 168 drivers in 56 vehicles has been officially published for the June 14 race.
Like the Lotus team currently in Formula One, the Lotus T129 uses the iconic British brand's name and colors but is actually built by a separate company. It previously ran a Lola chassis in the LMP2-class (pictured above). The Le Mans organizers claim the car will likely be on display during the 24-hour race, but it won't make it's competition debut until the World Endurance Championship round at the Circuit of the Americas in September. The T129 is being replaced by an Oreca 03 chassis with Nissan power in the LMP2 class, entered by Millennium Racing.
The Lotus' retirement came as the teams had to send in the names of the three drivers nominated to race each car. This year there are racers from 26 countries with the most coming from France (39), Britain (29), the US (17) and Italy (15). The latest tally of entries breaks down to 9 LMP1s, 19 LMP2s, 9 LM GTE Pros, 18 LM GTE Ams and the Nissan ZEOD RC as the experimental Garage 56 entry.
Lotus readying Evora crossover?!
Fri, Dec 19 2014If it seems to you like every sports car manufacturer is getting into the crossover game, that's because it's pretty much true. And now, we potentially have one more to add to the list, as Britain's Car magazine reports that Lotus – yes, Lotus – is proceeding with plans to build a crossover. Rather than build a new crossover from the ground up, however, Lotus is said to be developing a high-riding version of the existing Evora. It's tipped to keep its rear-drive configuration (rather than going with a proper all-wheel-drive system), with a raised ride height and more rugged styling. In that respect, it may emerge more like a Local Motors Rally Fighter than a Porsche Cayenne challenger. That may yet emerge as not such a bad thing as it may seem on the surface, but for those purists who'd balk at the notion of an off-road Lotus, the British automaker has other plans in store as well. The crossover would arrive on the heels of a refreshed version of the existing Evora, a potential convertible version of the same, and a hardcore, track-focused successor to the 2-Eleven is also said to be in the works. In the end, Lotus would only be the latest in a long string of established sports car makers to get into the crossover game. Porsche of course led the way with the Cayenne and followed up with the Macan, Maserati is set to follow suit, and last we heard, Lamborghini was still awaiting approval to build the Urus concept.
Kimi Raikkonen to miss rest of season for back surgery
Sun, 10 Nov 2013Formula One drivers keep themselves in peak physical condition, such are the demands placed on them in order to do what they do. But otherworldly as their capabilities may be, they're still human, and that means they get injured or sick just like the rest of us.
Case in point: Kimi Raikkonen and the announcement made today by Lotus that he'll have to sit out the rest of the season in order to undergo back surgery. That means Lotus will have to find a replacement driver for the last two races in Austin and Brazil while Kimi has and recovers from the operation.
Though we wouldn't debate the legitimacy of Kimi's condition or the necessity to rectify it, the timing is sure to raise some eyebrows. Raikkonen has been at the center of a pay dispute with Lotus, and while the situation was reportedly resolved, his decision to undergo what is said to be elective surgery at this point in the season (as opposed to waiting until its end) raises some questions as to his commitment to the team he is leaving and his team's financial commitments to him in turn.
