As you probably already know, this is by far the best performing car on the road... seemingly without limits. I've taken meticulous care of this show condition car. No expense was ever spared. It will always be the best looking and best sounding car anywhere around you and is a total blast to drive. It's been upgraded with a Larini Clubsport exhaust for added horsepower and a great sound. My theory is, when I drive this car I want to be completely immersed in the experience... and the Larini definitely helps to complete that. Some of the other driving experience additions include the micro rear view mirror, ice cold AC, new oil cooler, oversized battery, weighted shift ball (5lbs if I remember correctly and completely changes the feel when shifting). Windows professionally tinted.
I also professionally added the Gut Sportwing 2. The wing is very expensive and I only know of one other Elise that has added it the "right way". I had all the work done by a Lotus authorized facility who sanded the Gut logo off and then color-matched the spoiler from the doors back for a perfectly seamless fit. I spent well over 5k achieving the look after it was all done. I have tons of extras with the car such as the soft-top, hard-top, hard-top nylon protective case, full car cover, complete shop-book and many many extra parts like new oil filters, cup holder and extras. This car is the funnest car to work on yourself for oil changes and such. It's been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Lotus uses Toyota "proven" parts that we as owners can always get our hands on without special order. Smartest decision Lotus ever made. (Right now the ABS light is coming on which means it's time to drill the dust out of the brake disks... I'll try to find time to do that before the sale... it's easy). Also included is the color-matched toy car version of the lotus. I had that painted when I had the spoiler work done. Doors and trunk open to show the engine. It's perfect for your office desk. Lotus reveals new LMP1 at Le Mans
Fri, 13 Jun 2014Lotus is at Le Mans this week where it has unveiled its new LMP1. Only it's not racing at Le Mans. And it's not really a Lotus, either.
The prototype belongs to an independent German team that ran a Lotus chassis in the LMP2 category last year, but was granted license by the FIA and ACO to step up to the top-tier LMP1 category to dice it with the front-running hybrids from Audi, Porsche and Toyota this year. Unfortunately, the team - which licenses the Lotus name from the automaker, much as the F1 team does - faced some setbacks. Not the least of those delays resulted from a mid-stream switch in engine suppliers from the Audi-sourced, naturally aspirated V8 it was originally set to use to a new turbocharged V6 from Advanced Engine Research.
As a result it wasn't ready for the Silverstone race that kicked off this season's World Endurance Championship in April. Nor was it ready for the second round at Spa in May or not for the headline event this weekend at Le Mans, but it aims to be on the track at the next round in Austin.
New Lotus owners ditch ambitious five-year plan
Thu, 26 Jul 2012This didn't take long. The new overlords at Lotus have reportedly scrapped the company's five-year plan. DRB-Hicom ditched the turnaround strategy, penned by ousted CEO Danny Bahar, because it believes the market viewed the plan as overly ambitious.
The new product plan will slim the number of new model lines from five to three, and Lotus will likely slash the number planned consultants in favor of relying more heavily on in-house talent. According to The Star, the move should help expedite product development and save cash at the same time.
Even so, nothing is written in stone as of yet. DRB-Hicom says the new plan will take up to a year to finalize. The company has dumped around $242 million into Lotus so far this year, and the struggling automaker may require another $121 million by 2013. Lotus all but stopped production earlier this year during a loan freeze, but the lights came back on in April. The company now produces around 44 vehicles per week.
Lotus to receive $16M government grant
Mon, 25 Nov 2013Troubled British automaker Lotus is getting a second infusion of cash following a 100-million-pound ($161.5-million) investment by its parent company DRB-Hicom that was made in August. The substantially smaller investment, a mere 10 million pounds ($16.2 million), comes from the British government's Regional Growth Fund.
The fund, which is part of a 3-billion-pound ($4.8-billion) fund to spur economic growth in the UK, will allow Lotus to invest even further in research and development as it seeks to reinvent its lineup of lightweight sports cars. The fund will also allow the UK-based outfit to provide further training for its new crop of employees.
"This grant is part of a wider strategy for Lotus created to ensure we thrive and grow. We are responding to increased global demand for our cars and engineering consultancy services and this grant will help to position Lotus as the forefront of global automotive innovation," said Aslam Farikullah (shown above with UK Business Secretary Vince Cable MP), the chief operating officer at Lotus.
