2005 Lotus Elise, Ardent Red with Tan leather interior.  It currently has just under 51,200 but I may still put a few miles on.  When new it was advertised with a 0-60 of 4.6 seconds with the sport package.  Clear title.  The car does have some nicks and scratches from daily driving duties.  We had his and hers Elises and after daily driving the first once since 07 and then this one, its time to move on. The wheels are painted gold.  They weren't done flawlessy but they look decent.  I wasn't sure about the color, nor was I sure about powder coating forged aluminum so I tried the color in paint. The color looks sharp in person and makes the car unique to other Elises.  If you don't like it, its easy to strip.  There is a small fiberglass crack inside the 'mouth' area just below one of the driving lights.  The rockers should also be painted because of chips, just before the rear tires. There is also a scratch behind the passenger side window that has been touched up.  The car has only been serviced with synthetic oil while in my possesion and it has been done within the last thousand miles.  I just had a set of brand new tires put on this past Thursday and a new head unit installed last week with a USB port and jack as well as Pandora control for your phone. The car has a soft top only and it is the thicker padded version.  I personally would drive this car any distance with only a concern about comfort.  That being said, it does not come with any warranty- Sold as-is.  It has never let us down and continues to provide a smile even on the worst of days.  The car is currently financed through USAA and has a PA title- it would take a week or two to recieve the title from the state.  The car is currently in Pensacola Florida and garage kept.  Not 100% sure why I am selling it to be honest other than to maybe try a car that doesn't get quite so much attention. After experiencing a majority of the sports and exotics out there, there isn't one as raw as this for the street and with a body.

A restored Lotus Esprit adds lightness on Petrolicious

Thu, Feb 4 2016

Spencer Canon believes the Lotus Esprit is a misunderstood sports car. The wedge-shaped exotics' reputation suggests they are incredibly temperamental, which means lots of expensive repairs. Canon sought to make sure his Lotus didn't suffer from such maladies, which was achieved thanks to a rebuild from a bare shell. The result of his hard work exudes 1980s style with some modern flair and even inspires Canon's career creating bicycles. The Lotus was a wreck when Canon bought it, and he spent months just stripping off the old paint. The car's condition prevented a complete restoration to original spec, so Canon decided to improve the coupe. He modified it in simple ways, such as replacing the power windows with simple pull straps. He also took inspiration from the color scheme on his company's bikes and painted the Lotus blue with a lighter stripe diagonally along the side. The completed sports car angers some purists for not being entirely authentic, but it's hard to argue with the results. Plus, Canon's happy, and nothing else really matters. Canon's Lotus has a rousing exhaust burble once he gets out of the city and out onto the open road. Take a ride with him in the latest video from Petrolicious to hear it yourself and to get a better understanding about the Esprit. Related Video:

Lotus team out of Le Mans, full driver list published

Tue, 20 May 2014

We can scratch off one more car from the list for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Lotus T129 LMP1 car has been dropped from the entry list of the 82nd running of the historic race, with organizers citing "a lack of preparation" as the reason. On a more positive note, the list of 168 drivers in 56 vehicles has been officially published for the June 14 race.
Like the Lotus team currently in Formula One, the Lotus T129 uses the iconic British brand's name and colors but is actually built by a separate company. It previously ran a Lola chassis in the LMP2-class (pictured above). The Le Mans organizers claim the car will likely be on display during the 24-hour race, but it won't make it's competition debut until the World Endurance Championship round at the Circuit of the Americas in September. The T129 is being replaced by an Oreca 03 chassis with Nissan power in the LMP2 class, entered by Millennium Racing.
The Lotus' retirement came as the teams had to send in the names of the three drivers nominated to race each car. This year there are racers from 26 countries with the most coming from France (39), Britain (29), the US (17) and Italy (15). The latest tally of entries breaks down to 9 LMP1s, 19 LMP2s, 9 LM GTE Pros, 18 LM GTE Ams and the Nissan ZEOD RC as the experimental Garage 56 entry.

Genii capitalizing on Lotus F1 tech with new sports car?

Fri, 24 Jan 2014

Detractors will tell you that there's little to be applied from Formula One racing to the cars we drive, but what about the cars most of us could only dream of driving? We're talking about supercars from the likes of Ferrari and McLaren - two hugely successful F1 racing teams that have successfully made the transition into building exotic sports cars for the road. And soon there may be one more.
That would be the Lotus F1 Team, which is rumored to be working on a sports car project of its own. Now we know what you might be thinking: Lotus already makes sports cars. Indeed they do, only the F1 team has nothing more to do with the automaker behind the Exige and Evora than the name they share. Today the team (formerly known as Toleman, Benetton and Renault) is owned by Genii Capital, whose chairman Gerald Lopez recently confirmed the rumors to Auto Motor und Sport: "We are going to develop a carbon chassis for a sports car that can be built in large quantities.... But this has nothing to do with Formula 1."
With little to nothing in the way of details available, the circulating rumors had tied the venture to on-again, off-again Italian auto marque De Tomaso. But our source at ATS (which recently bought the rights to the De Tomaso name following Gian Mario Rossignolo's aborted attempt to revive it) firmly denied the prospect of any such collaboration. Spokesmen for the Lotus F1 Team would not divulge any information; neither would the press office for parent company Genii Capital, leaving the door wide open to speculation once again.
