1997 Lincoln Town Car Signature - One Owner - 68,000 Miles - ***see Video*** on 2040-cars
Dripping Springs, Texas, United States

Attention: This beautiful ONE OWNER Lincoln Town Car will ONLY be for sale through this listing period ending 05/25. After then, the car will not be advertised on eBay. This is not a sales tactic. If you have interest in this car, I suggest you bid or contact us before the listing ends.
About the car: This is a one owner car that came from an elderly couple. The car has always been garaged and the condition reflects this. Exterior: Good condition. Paint is glossy. A few scuffs on the bumper. A small dent in the driver's door. (we were quoted $300 to PDR the dents). Tires are Michelin in good condition with lots of tread left. The chrome molding has a little oxidation under the clear protective layer on the front and rear bumpers (not a big deal, new 3M chrome rolls can be bought if desired) Interior: The interior is in very good condition. The seats are very clean and only the drivers seats shows some wear (but not much for a car of this age. No tears) Headliner, panels, all in good condition. Mechanical: The car HAS had the intake manifold replaced (the updated version with metal crossover), so this will not be a concern for the next owner. We were told by the owner that the car has always had synthetic oil changes. Both rear air suspension bags have been replaced this week. See photos. Only one was leaking slightly, but we decided to replace them both so no issues for the new owner. This is a Texas car, purchased in San Antonio at North Park Lincoln and always garaged at the owner's home in Austin. Which means NO RUST or flooding. Look at the photos we took while the car was on the rack for the air suspension work. No rust or oil leaks. Bottom line: The two major issues that are typical of Town Cars of this age (the suspension bags and the intake manifold) have both been replaced. These items would likely be $1,000+ in repairs if taken to a repair shop/Ford dealer. Bid accordingly. If you have any additional questions, call us anytime at 512-608-5523. We will assist you in getting the car picked up by a shipping company if you choose to have it shipped to your location or possibly pick you up at ABIA (Austin Airport) if we are available when your flight comes in. We are a small dealer west of Austin, TX and Texas buyers must pay TT&L. The car is sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Be sure to view the video walk around of the car here: If you have any additional questions, call us anytime at 512-608-5523. |

Lincoln's L100 teases luxurious autonomy with crazy-long doors
Fri, Aug 19 2022Lincoln chose Pebble Beach (not to mention its brand centennial) to show its new autonomous coupe concept. This unconventional 2+2 has everything you expect from a classic Lincoln luxury car — an extravagant presence, over-the-top appointments and, most importantly, the most ridiculous suicide doors we've ever seen. It may not seem obvious in photos, but the L100 is truly massive. It's longer than a Navigator (Lincoln's words) and arguably has a far more impressive aura. The wheels are tucked beneath the L100's body work to make the car more slippery; the slick impressions adorning the bodywork are lined with LEDs, allowing for a customizable movement "signature." And then there are the doors. The L100's massive portals are mounted on hinges the likes of which you've never seen, which is appropriate given the scale of this massive coupe. The doors open rearward, then outward imbuing the works with look akin to that of a mechanized insect startled by an intruder. The angle can be customized, Lincoln says, and the ingress/egress points are lined with LEDs that allow for custom lighting effects, including an illuminated "red carpet" that makes puddle lamps look like weak party tricks. Lincoln Model L100 Concept Exterior 7 View 13 Photos "We are at a special moment in our history. Over the last 100 years, Lincoln has pioneered multiple innovations and pushed the boundaries of design that have come to define our brand as we know and love it today," says Joy Falotico, president, Lincoln. "With the Model L100 Concept, we reimagine what the Lincoln sanctuary might look like for our clients of tomorrow moving us forward to define the next chapter of the Lincoln story." Lincoln was light on the L100's technical details, suggesting only that it utilizes next-gen (solid state) battery tech and a wheel-in-motor configuration to maximize available interior space. The stylized "wheel" panels eliminate turbulence and are sculpted outward from the car's centerline to maximize space for the actual wheels and tires hidden beneath them. Lincoln's designers say it was surprisingly easy to assure clearance for the front wheels to pivot with steering inputs, but despite the L100's size, it's hard not to fixate on how narrow that front track must be. Lincoln's idea of the next chapter is one where people still own their own cars even if they don't drive them. This is in contrast to Cadillac's InnerSpace concept, which is otherwise very similar in both concept and execution.
Lincoln says MKZ supply crisis over
Mon, 25 Mar 2013After an excessive number of recalls on the 2013 Escape and Fusion, we can't really fault Ford for being a little extra cautious with the launch of the 2013 Lincoln MKZ. Last month, we reported that dealer supply of the car was extremely limited due to more attention being paid to quality checks of cars rolling off the assembly line, which led to a 73-percent drop in MKZ sales from last year on top of a 32-year low in monthly sales for Lincoln in January.
The reason for the delay was that the sedans were being shipped from the Hermosillo, Mexico assembly plant to be inspected even closer at Ford's Flat Rock, Michigan plant before they were able to head to dealers. Things seem to be straightening out for Lincoln and the MKZ's production now, as Automotive News is reporting that supply should be up to a "normal level" by the end of this month.
Chevy, Lincoln dealers say they still want sedans
Mon, Feb 17 2020Detroit automakers have famously turned their backs on sedans as they make the strategic bet to double down on money-making trucks and SUVs, but dealers for at least two American brands are giving the companies contrary signals. In separate recent interviews with leading national dealer councils for Chevrolet and Lincoln, Automotive News reports that both brands’ dealers still see a need for cars. The publication published a Q&A interview with Mike Bowsher, chairman of the Chevrolet National Dealer Council, who said Chevy dealers managed to hold onto market share last year despite the phase-out of the Cruze compact sedan and hatchback, thanks to products like the Spark and Sonic subcompacts and the Trax and Equinox crossovers. But, he acknowledged, “We do feel like we could use a car, especially in the low-MSRP range.” The comments follow similar recent comments from Tom Lynch, who chairs the Lincoln National Dealer Council. He told AN, “If weÂ’re not in segments where there is still a good amount of business, I think the company and the dealers lose out.” The Cruze was one of the victims of GMÂ’s November 2018 announcement of plant closures, with production having ceased with the closure of GMÂ’s Lordstown, Ohio assembly plant last year. GM sold 47,975 Cruzes in 2019 but a healthy 142,617 in 2018. At Lincoln, Lynch said the council has been telling the company it needs to stick with the sedan segment, despite plans to kill the MKZ sedan in the coming months and unconfirmed reports that the Continental isnÂ’t long for this world, either, despite the buzz of the suicide-door Coach Door Edition, shown in the photo above. Lincoln sold 17,725 MKZs and 6,586 Continental sedans in 2019, down a combined 15%, but still good for almost 22% of overall Lincoln sales. It's worth noting that Lincoln competes in a luxury segment that still expresses allegiance to four- and two-door cars. Even Cadillac, its cross-town rival, is staying active with the upcoming CT5 and CT4 sedans. Lynch pointed to Tesla as evidence that strong sedan products can resonate with consumers, though he conceded that “What that looks like for Lincoln going forward, IÂ’m not sure of.” For now, anyway, Chevy still offers the Sonic and Spark subcompacts, the latter of which saw sales climb 32.5% in 2019 to 31,281 (Sonic sales fell nearly as steeply).
